Why are peasants so overlooked in fantasy medieval games, they are never one of the main characters
>>
theyre lame. even when theyre a main character they end up being some noble-blood bastard like in kingdom come to spice them up
>>
>>722501807
They have very poor hygiene and that doesn't look visually appealing.
People like to see white teeth when you smile.
>>
don't you start as a peasant in Dragon's Dogma? Or a fisherman, same shit
>>
>>722502114
Henry wasn't even a peasant, he was a blacksmith.
>>
Because gamers tend to be of the peasant (middle/lower) class so it doesn't work as escapism

And how would that be different from nobility? Indeed, since the nobility had access to sugar, and no access to modern dentistry, their dental health was even more disastrous (although it was expected for everyone to lose most their teeth as they aged, hence the "don't teach grandma to suck eggs" idiom you might have heard). Here's exhumed skeleton of Gustav Vasa for example; he lost just about all of his teeth and lived in constant agony. Fuck! When some kind of functional dental prostheses were developed (that admittedly is early modern), and before modern dentistry (last hundred years or so), it wasn't uncommon for 20-somethings to have all of their teeth pulled out and replaced by a prosthesis so they didn't look like shit, the so-called bridal teeth (and obviously this is an upper-class phenomenon, since peasants didn't have money for such a thing)! George Washington for example had such a prosthesis, but it was ill-fitting, and if you look at pictures of him, you can see he's trying hard to not let the teeth shoot out of his mouth.

I mean he was living in the same wicker wall dirt floor hovels that the two unemployed day-laborers and town drunk lived in, so his family was basically just peasantry that had slightly pointier boots and could afford spices sometimes.

Have you literally never played one? This is one of the stupidest false premises I've seen on here. Weak bait. Here are some better known games where a peasant is the protagonist:

RPGs:
Tales of Phantasia
Dragon's Dogma
Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Sims:
Peasant Simulator
Medieval Dynasty

Honorable mention goes to basically any RPG that lets you create a custom character, from the many D&D games like Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale to Mount & Blade and the Guild series.

If you are explicitly talking about playing as some dirt-farmer doing mundane shit for his Lord, go play those sim games. But there's a wealth of games where you play as or alongside a common peasant. The farmboy hero archetype is one of the most common in all of English-language literature and oral tradition.

I think about that a lot actually, it would have to be some kind of party based CRPG + tactics style game, you wouldn't have control of a hero, instead it would be a small group of peasants organized towards a goal, like destroying the local goblin band that is killling the cattle or kill the brigands that are isolating the village by blocking off the road.
Combat would be brutal and stacked against you, only with numbers and careful tactics you would be able to win and casualties would be guaranteed, hence the need for it to be a party based and not a character based game.
>>
feel bad for peasant girls. nomatter their age or whatever the king could just summon them and dick them down whenever he felt like it for as long as he wanted

Having a character class means that you are not a commoner, which would be the peasant class in DnD, so nope.

Every girl's dream anon
>>

Plenty of IRL peasants were fisherman. "Peasant" was simply the word derived from French that meant "one who pays", as in taxes. So anyone that wasn't a noble. In a pre-industrial society, that means mostly people that worked farms which would have been owned by the state or nobility. But it also applied to artisans and merchants that were not nobility.
>>
>>722503952
the Arisen is still a peasant. The Dragon chooses him based on his bravery, not anything else.
>>
>>722503952
Then go play fucking farming simulators. There's multiple whole genres of "be a normal person" games where you do nothing remarkable. Even fucking Euro Truck Simulator counts by your definition.
>>
>>722504012
i bet 99 percent of them didnt get any wealth or something, he probably did it 10 times a week with different girls, it was get old man dick or be beheaded, all they got was pregnant if they were even old enough or he didnty fuck them in the ass. then they had to wait another 18 years for their bastard child to kill him and claim the throne by which time the mother is probably dead of some boomer disease

What do you think? Monotonous backbreaking labour for most of your waking hours (or a combination of monotonous backbreaking labour and spinning for all your waking hours if you're a female) with effectively zero chance for social advancement?

In general, player characters or any named characters whatsoever tend to be exceptional, and like 80-90% of humans that have ever lived were subsistence farmers which is everything but. Perhaps you go do soldiering or chosen one stuff or something (and as anon said, that's a common trope actually), but then you're no longer doing peasant stuff and the background isn't very relevant to the game.

If you want a game of what it's like to be a peasant, then take a look at Ancient Savo (from UnReal World developers).

>>722503868
Contemporary historiography tends to reject it being a thing (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Droit_du_seigneur). No evidence there ever was such a law anywhere, and while obviously there was rape from time to time and lots of royal bastards, you have to remember that medieval kings derived their legitimacy from acting like a king should, and that's not part of the job description.

Be nobody. In most cases be literal land slave without officially a slave. Have to apply to move or even travel to other territories. Have massive restrictions.
No education but your father and if you're lucky village but in most cases just a wide family community.
No skills, no education, no interesting lore or events.
Expendable shock troops in war, expendable fooder for nobles, expendable in general.
About 5~8 births per woman, 20-30% inftant mortality rate, 30-50% die under 5 years old.
So if you survived you'd have about 100% chance to have dead brothers or sisters. Life in extremely expendable and death is very much ha daily occurrence.

I literally cannot imagine a worse character.

He didn't do it with anymore but his wife usually because that puts all his heir in danger and delegitimizes him. Sure they had a bastard or two but it was generally frowned upon.

>>
>>722504873
if i was king i wouldnt do it purely because youd catch some peasant sexually transmitted disease like aids or whatever and then give your wife it. but if he wanted to he could just kill the girl/her whole family/exiled them/killed the bastard son as a kid. depends how cruel kings really were back then
there was no dna testing either so its impossible to prove if any peasant had royal blood either way anyway.
>>
i wonder if in the dark ages peasants had more games to play than nintendo switch 2 owners do now

>>
>>722501807
Peasants in general lead very uninteresting short lives without much agency over them. In a feudal system you had to get permissions from the nobility and the guilds in order to move out of your post so to speak. It was more about who you know type of a system and peasants weren't that smart either, think of the average Slav/Gypsie of today, that would've been a Peasant in medieval times.
>>722505112
>Using modern reasoning historical time period without such information.
STDs weren't known about since like 1960s when they started to become a manufactured problem. People mostly knew about pox and other diseases but STDs were unlikely to be a known factor back when.
