I think about that a lot actually, it would have to be some kind of party based CRPG + tactics style game, you wouldn't have control of a hero, instead it would be a small group of peasants organized towards a goal, like destroying the local goblin band that is killling the cattle or kill the brigands that are isolating the village by blocking off the road.Combat would be brutal and stacked against you, only with numbers and careful tactics you would be able to win and casualties would be guaranteed, hence the need for it to be a party based and not a character based game.

In a pre-industrial society, that means mostly people that worked farms which would have been owned by the state or nobility. But it also applied to artisans and merchants that were not nobility.

I literally cannot imagine a worse character.
