Outside of games with legacy fanbases like Silksong or Deltarune, most successful indie games today are none of that. They're all garbageous gambleslop/friendslop that's forgotten in a month or a week like Peak, Megabonk, Schedule 1 or Lethal Comapny. All equally soulless as well since they were all shat out to be cashgrabs.

9.9% of indie games generate enough money to keep the dev(s) afloat, with them probably making more money if they just worked at a regular dev job.
0.1% of indie games turn into massive hits.
You can't even reliably predict this, given how many great games fail & how many dogshit games prosper.
Compare that to AAA games, where Concord-tier failures are still somewhat rare. It's a safer bet.

the problem i find is that the area to actually walk around the shrines is a bit too small, and getting hit by fucking anything will LAUNCH you out of the capture zone 9/10 times. i also dont really understand how the orbs work. they sort of home in, but sometimes they're easy to avoid and sometimes you just get chain hit to death and not even aegis stops the damage.

and then the desert boss with the fucking laser. blocking it with terrain is great, but then theres the fucking orbs. im still not entirely sure how i beat him, but it was with the dice guy (first run with him too, lol).

I think the shrines are a terrible design. If you have too much move speed you cant dodge effectively while capping either. I like the old bosses being adds summons, since that sticks with the whole premise of the game.
Just remove the shrines and replace them with bosses being summoned as a wave.

your run is also dead in the water if you take 3, because your regen will be negative and you wont be able to heal. weirdly enough, your health doesnt deplete as if you were poisoned, but it will LITERALLY be negative (because its -50% each crystal) even with a regen tome. died super quick to the tier 3 boss.

the kevin item sounds stupid too, where its like a 25% chance for the item to "hit" you (but it cant kill you) when you hit an enemy. so, what, this is supposed to just synergize with gold gained on hit and the static discharge item? thats fucking awful.
