Every Monday for the last 2 months I've been secretly hoping that the CEO at my startup terminates me so I can get my severance package and spend the next couple of years traveling and taking classes while I wait for the US economic situation to improve. Sadly it looks like his plans are actually starting to bear fruit so the company isn't going to need to do any significant cost-cutting in the near future.

>>722519471
I was in a similar situation. My sector in the company did a massive fuck up and the CEO gave each of us a stern talking down. I have been unhappy there for years now, so even though I'm not eligible for severance pay, I was hoping he would just let me go, but then I find out that he just doesn't really care, and has actually given me more work to do; and not meaningless shit, actual work that needs to be done by competent people (which I am not)

>>
My company is slowly dying due to folks being complete divas. Nobody wants to be responsible for anything, so crucial work gets shifted around constantly instead of getting done. We delay orders, we get our customers angry and they order elsewhere. It feels like people are either too indifferent or too stupid to care. They clock in, do the absolute minimum and go home. New orders keep drying up while everyone's infighting and playing the blaming game. I can see the company dying in real-time.

I just hope it doesn't take too long so I can live off my savings for a year or so.

I use to work 4x10s and worked Fri - Mon.

Sure, it sucked working on the weekend. But the company offered an extra $3 an hour to work those hours because no one wanted them. As a early to mid-20 something with no family, I was a "sure why not" kinda thing. And I'd just do stuff in the middle of week with fewer crowds. But now I'm a 9-5 corpo.

>>722520190
I just gotta get through this week and then I'm off for a week. Taking a little vacation for my birthday, but I'm honestly anxious about it. The last time I took a week off, it was like time stood still and felt like nothing got done.

So it's got me worried what I'll come back to when I take a break again.

I'm working from home as much as I want at the moment which is a decent cope. It alleviates some of that claustrophobic dread of being completely bound by a schedule set by somebody else. Don't feel like going into work today? Just work from home and browse 4chan while I work. Don't even bother getting out of bed sometimes, just grab my work laptop from the desk and hop online.

Yeah, I decided that I wanted to leave after the vice president got let go. After the most recent board meeting in August they weren't happy with the sales figures and so a sacrifice had to be made. The VP mostly just did social media and public relations work so her value was kind of dubious and was therefore an obvious target. That being said, she was employee #2(I'm #3) and she wasn't actually getting paid all that much to begin with so I thought it was just kind of needlessly cruel. I'm the obvious next target since I'm a relatively expensive PhD scientist and since our product has already launched they technically don't need someone to do a bunch of fancy R&D, they could probably get away with doing little improvements here and there and have it spearheaded by the engineering people.

Abandon all hope if your job ever gets #girlboss'd. I will be doing mine for 10 years this months but it has been invaded by useless cunts and söys and at this point me and a handful of other older employees are pretty much doing everything while 80% of the team just sits in meetings and at lunch and bosses your around. No amount of putting skill points into madness resistance will save your sanity from this suffering.

>expensive PHD scientist
Jesus, I'm sorry I put myself in a situation where we're similar, anon.

I'm nowhere even close to that. In fact, I'm probably the most pathetic nepobaby in the world. I've been working minimum wage with no access to any worker's rights for nearly 10 years and dropped out of college twice. That's why I'm almost wishing to be kicked out of my work, I'm just too shameful to think I deserve even this minimum wage job.

The only benefits I get are
1.full flexibility with my hours (which doesn't matter, since I can barely keep up with my obligations)
2.freedom to choose my vacation (again, doesn't matter, because if I'm not doing it, no one is, so it's going to be much worse after I get back)

Do you have job options with your PHD, at least? I imagine people like you do have less weight on your minds if you know you work in an area that allows you to pick between a few surefire options

Being a NEET person lasts forever if you live in a group home.

The only things that I'm not allowed to have are drugs and weapons!

Living in a group home is actually comfy!

This is what I'm going to go for. Feasibly manual labor that will key me day dream a good portion of it, and 10 hours. Then 3 full free days to focus being in that state of mind.

how's security work? I checked some professionalization courses, and honestly, taking classes for just a few months, and getting paid just above minimum wage to potentially work night shifts and not have to interact with people sounds like my dream job. I'm tired of working alongside people

How the fuck do you enjoy your job? Sure I don't hate mine but I can't ever envision myself working at something I enjoy unless it's one of my hobbies. What exactly do people mean by this? Where are these jobs that people enjoy going to?

I just got back home and did all my chores for the day, currently 10:30PM, still going to hop on for some vidya and work from home tomorrow.
>>

My job is babysitting rest stops, and it's an all day affair. I leave for work at like 12pm, and don't get home until 12:30am

It's a great job though, pays well and I get to play with heavy landscaping equipment. Sucks on days when I have work back to back because I basically have to go to sleep the moment I get home, and get ready for work the moment I wake up. Gotta get my nut though.
>>
>>722527976
You will have to fuck up your sleep schedule any time you need to do normal shit like visit a bank/grocery store/DMV, you will begin to visibly fall apart. No amount of exercise and sleep negates the effects of getting no sunlight.

I've done nights for coming up 2 years and if you've got a social life and fitness goals then you're probably going to struggle to adapt. I posted earlier about 4 on and 4 off and it has benefits but I hate sleeping later than 10am. It feels like such a waste. I know people who sleep until a few hours before they start at 8-9pm and don't seem to mind at all. When I do that it's like "well shit, looks like I'm ordering a days worth of calories at 10pm again" I finish at 4:30 here and I'm in bed within 15 minutes so I can still manage to be up before noon, but I'll always be in bed before 10pm on my first day off catching up on sleep, which isn't awful but it feels like I only end up with 3 days off then and leaves me wondering if it's worth the bad points of working nights. Fuck doing something like 8-8 with a commute though. I did that last year and turned into a mean prick.

I know people with GOOD jobs and they are still miserable and are always wishing they could just become streamers or something. One of my friends had a government IT job and he HAD to quit because he was going fucking insane dealing with the insane amount of boomer shit and bureaucracy and the general abuse and overwork from him being the "new guy" three years into it. I've been unemployed for like a year after being let go of my night shift security job. It honestly feels like you only land good jobs out of pure RNG luck, or if you're a woman in the big city because those sluts always land high paying office jobs and sometimes even remote work.

There's something wrong with the job market right now and the fact that shit gets more expensive by the day. It feels like mass suicide bait. Video games.

I really do enjoy my job and where I work, my hours are flexible and for being in the Southeast US the pay is incredible. I just sometimes worry it was a mistake to move up to managing a lab and technicians.

The lab's kind of had a rocky past with managers since around the time I started. Just about everyone wanted me to take the position and overall I think I do pretty damn well at it, it's just been a bit of an issue with people leaving lately, but I don't think it's anything to do with me, rather it is a very busy lab with a shift work schedule, working 12 hours rotating nights and days 5 days on, 5 days off, 2 days on, 2 days off.

It is a cursed industry with any form of upwards mobility resulting in a pay cut and a massive increase in duties. The grand majority people that you'll work with will either be apathetic uni students who'll be too busy "studying" to be useful around the job, fresh of the boat immigrants that don't speak the language and somehow manged to spend an ENTIRE shift on yapping on the phone to some random cunt or dipshit boomers that got stuck in the same dead in job for 20+ years and will gladly make that your problem.

Management is useless and is constantly trying to rip you off. Get used to sending pay quires almost every pay period. You'll be the least respected person on any given site but also expected to come save the day because the local crack head isn't following the script from HR's latest "Conflict De-Escalation Strategy Guidebook".

People will approach you with full intent to start a argument over some stupid bullshit and there's nothing you can do but deal with it. People will conspire to try and get you fired because NOBODY likes dealing with Security until something goes wrong then all of a sudden it's "Why didn't security do the process that we're actively fighting to have removed!?!?"

If you're really unlucky you'll get sent to a University with onsite student accommodation, where you have to do something that's unofficially known as a "Suicide Patrol", where you have to check secluded areas of certain building that are known suicide hot spots. This is also not including times where a student will just randomly throw themselves off the 6th story balcony and you're expected to come into work the next day and pretend that you didn't just watch a teenager get scrapped off the pavement with a shovel by the EMTs 12 hours ago.

If you still want to work in that industry, just remember. Document everything, get everything in writing and don't forget, it always pays to C.A.R.E (Cover Arse, Retain Employment)

t. Spent 5 years in that Industry.

It really depends on the job. I was working weekends in my previous job (tax prep) but I live in a state with mandatory overtime for any hours worked on Sundays and it meant I got Wednesdays and Thursdays off. Having your days off fall on a weekday is so fucking useful. No traffic, stores are usually empty if you live in a particularly affluent area, and any sort of public spaces where you just want to hang out by yourself aren't packed full of weekend warriors.*

*Does not work if you have a large immigrant population in your area. Sorry.

Honest answer: Call centers. If they demand commutes, cope with it however you can. They will take anyone.
>B-but outsour-
Yeah and half of the people on those phones demand someone with an understandable accent, you're the guy who's gonna get those calls.
>B-but AI-
They want humans too and get real fucking annoyed at the AI ones. You're effectively getting 25% of the normal call volume for 100% of the wages. It's incredible.

Here’s a tip for literal retards that still manage to find themselves in debt:
If you use a credit card, pay the charge immediately when you get home.
Use the card to pay for recurring things like gas/transit, maybe rent/bills if they let you.
And then immediately pay it off.
Doing this builds your credit over time, raises your limits, and keeps you debt free.
It’s literally the easiest shit ever.
Good credit card companies will even offer points or cash back that can lower your already low payments (you are literally just spending the money you have, but are now spending less because of the kickback).
All this is relevant assuming you also have a non-single digit IQ and understand that paying for things with a credit card usually implies that you have or will shortly have the money needed.
Modern finance is so brain dead that I honestly cannot comprehend people living in debt to the point where it actively worsens their lives.
>b-but student loans!!
There are literally programs to help with this.
>b-but car payments!!
Your fault for wanting the newest, most expensive shit instead of reasonably finding something you can pay once in full for.
>b-but home payments
If you live in a home alone (no family or roommates) that you don’t fully own, you’ve lost already.
>b-but medical bills!!
If your health is so shit that you actively have medical payments due, fix your fucking life.

I agree with the rest of your post but I am gonna say this is becoming harder and harder. More and more cars actually worth a shit that are used are being hoarded by boomer "I know what I got"s that upcharge everything and the only time you find reasonable clunker prices you're typically actually getting shit just a hair away from being scrapped. I bought a 112k mile 2004 car for $1500 (negotiated down from $1900) and I ended up having to sink another $2400 into repairs (Suspension was fucked, electronics all needed to be replaced) and that's still not everything (need to realign tires, replace wipers, unfuck the wiper fluid sprayers, radio doesn't fucking work beyond being a charging port, etc). It drives fine, but it was the only car in the area even close to something that was considered normal 20 years ago. Everything else is triple the price with probably just as many if not more problems.

The car bubble is almost as bad as the housing bubble right now. Everything's turned into a hoarding speculator market.

>Do you have job options with your PHD, at least?
It's semi-seasonal. Biotech is really capital intensive so when interest rates are low there's lots of options and when interest rates are high there a fewer options. Interest rates are high in the US right now compared to most peer nations so the job market isn't amazing right now. The good news is that compensation for the type of work I do is very generous so I've been able to build my war chest up over the last 6 years or so and I can afford to take time off. A lot of people are expecting interest rates to go down in the next couple of years for any number of different reasons so I'm optimistic about things in the long term.

Some (or most) people just don't really save money. If they have spare money, they'll spend it on one thing or another that adds up over time so they're constantly at basically just a lil bit of savings. My job isn't particularly well-paying and I'm the primary breadwinner of my family (I pay the rent, utilities, taxes, and my share of groceries), but I still put back a couple of thousand dollars each month because I spend maybe $100 or less on myself each month. I just don't feel the drive to spend a lot of money and I have this autistic fixation on saving my money and watching it grow. It also depends on where you live, where it's easier to save in certain parts of the country, but those places also tend to have jobs pay better.

The anon you're replying to said it himself. He only just realized in his 30s that he should save money, after multiple years of working. Most people never realize that. Most people never realize that they can get free money from retirement accounts, long-term investments, and CDs (which is now just barely enough to keep up with inflation because the economy is a joke, but that's beside the point). So they just never actually grow their savings. This isn't a criticism of them, either, it's just how a lot of people are wired and there's never anybody or anything to teach them to be more conscious of their finances. Especially because the entire financial industry is designed to be as confusing and opaque as possible in order to fleece more money out of normal people that aren't psychotic investment golems.

The issue is this is like saying "buy bitcoin at the dip" - it was viable about 15+ years ago but if you're getting in now your options are shit. You get low-credit investments that still inexplicably have stupid low interest rates if you go corpo and if you go treasury you're gambling on if the government doesn't default in the next 30 years and odds are fucking high we're in the same situation as Russia when they had to change from Soviet to modern Rubles.

He used to be in cahoots with this taxi firm and we'd have drivers taking us to a few jobs, then another one would pick us up and take us to more.. we'd probably meet with at least 5-8 different drivers everyday and they would always be taking calls every fucking 5 minutes and they always sounded like arguments

The job needs these requirements:
1. Straightforward tasks that don't drain you mentally any more than whatever you would want to do that day would
2. If in-person, coworkers who you maintain an enjoyable but not manager-attention-drawing rapport with
3. Managers who only interact with you if there's a problem and otherwise leave you alone
4. No deadline culture whatsoever
5. The overarching employer needs to PRETEND to give a shit about its employees significantly enough to avoid bad rumor-mongering.

Here's an example: The company I work for, MetLife, does JUST enough that I don't loathe it even after 15 years of incredibly retarded decision making across three CEOs because they push for quality of life in a variety of ways. My office has a gym no one else goes to (because it's mostly out-of-shape older women) so I can lift heavy for free whenever I'm not on the clock and fap without worrying about hiding. It's even got working showers. That plus this automated system that forces you to take numerous micro-breaks on TOP of the state-mandated breaks and my lunch and my smoke breaks means I am never at any point particularly stressed by my job of telling old people how much is in their retirement account from the comfort of my home. Plus I get about as many paid vacation days as a European company (32). A company like that makes the waging bearable. Not good, but bearable and sometimes enjoyable.

if you can NEET and sling drugs on the side for tax free cash, that seems like the comfiest setup, don't do anything stupid by scaling volume etc, just sell enough to have a reasonable extra cash flow, also bonus that some cuties will give up the box for discounts/freebies

Worked for Amtrak on the cleaning crew and saw similar shit a lot. You'll see people just throw themselves or be pushed in front of trains, sometimes just splattering from the impact if they weren't on the tracks already before the train comes over and twists their bodies around, and you get maybe one day off if it's particularly shocking (a young kid or something) and otherwise you just come in the next day. I think the only time I got more than a day off was because a particular suicide actually damaged the train and the track simultaneously so the line was shut down for repairs.

It's fucked up but Amtrak does have some benefits that don't truly offset it but at least distract you. I was getting practically unlimited travel anywhere there was an Amtrak station, for free, I was getting paid stupid good money, my "8 hour" days featured typically 3 hours of actual work and 5 hours of reading, watching movies, whatever with the rest of the cleaning team. Full month-long vacation you can take all at once and they don't care. If you stick with it to retirement (which they will let you because the unions will genuinely fight and die for you for comically small dues) you can potentially get a HUGE untaxed payout. Plus people respect you for some reason lmao.

I left it to work on a shipyard because I saw less people die and I get basically all the same benefits.

I've had cushy desk jobs my whole life and currently work fully from home doing barely any work every day and even that feels like too much. Having you daily schedule controlled by other people that are getting rich off your work will degrade your soul, no matter how easy it is. I'd probably rather kill myself than work an in-person minimum wage job. No idea how some of you guys do it.

The only consistent output ive done in my entire life is drawing. Ive spent longer drawing than mosy employed people have spent awake. Im talking hoppin on the PC and sitting there drawing from 5am til 11pm, going to sleep, then hopping on the pc to keep drawing.

This was when i first became a neet at 22 and built a PC off commissions a year later. Im now 32 and im still doing the same shit albeit alot slower due to health problems. The bux have sustained me more than comfortably this whole time because i dont fuckin go anywhere and literlly only buy food and pay heavily subsidised council house rent. The extra 100 or so a month from tossing shitposts on patreon for the past 4 years means there isnt even a gap where i run out of money for 3 days anymore

It really sounds like everyone lamenting their existence shouldve fuckin sought purpose and psychotic drive outside of traditional employment if only for mental health sake.

>40 years minimum
Aside of the trouble of getting into the fields now (working on it, better off than I was 2 years ago) I've really lost any guilt and shame for neeting for +13 years after I rationalized it as a mortgage on my retirement. Retirement is what, 68-70 if you aren't really lucky. Most will live to 80-ish, and life declines rapidly after 85. So you get around let's say 12-15 years of retirement if you live to the expected 80-ish. The tradeoff is I didn't have investments to accumulate over that earlier period, and the lack of initial foot in the door to make it harder later.

But given I might not live to 80, let alone even retirement age (Dad died at 59 albeit not hereditary issue), it really put me at ease. The most godawful cuckoldry I can imagine would be working like a dog with retirement as your end goal and then haha whoops you died before you can even benefit from it.

In bongland the government is divided into local councils for each area and those councils often own property wholesale and can rent it out to its residents. They often do this at significantly lower rates. As to why, its so that those residents still circulate labour and capital within their community as care for your citizens is still a baseline actually practiced societal standard over here. Even actual prolific government lawmakers said "what the fuck are you doing" when cuts to disability and housing were proposed

Just "Cleaner" or "Cleaning." It's hard to get in by applying due to the union culture, you have your best chances of getting in by already knowing someone in. A friend of mine became head of the crew, and that left an opening, and I got in through him because I needed work. You can TRY applying through the site, there's typically two options:
>Cleaner
You wait at a station, train shows up, you get on and clean everything, train fucks off. Takes a couple hours. You don't deal with people.
>ERC/En Route Cleaner
You wait at a station, train shows up, you get on, train takes off, you clean while it's moving to the next station. Rinse and repeat for a train coming back to your "home" station. You sometimes deal with people.

Public transportation, if it ever comes, will be filled with homeless people, be dirty as shit, and never have pickup and drop offs at reasonable locations, but it's probably the only reasonable way to deal with less cars on the freeway. I actually work for a subcontractor for that. CA Rail projects take so fucking long to build because of all of the red tape. Building one overpass involves a shitton of work to investigate environmental and economical impacts, let alone making sure that everything passes quality and risk inspections before it's even built to make sure that the thing doesn't collapse and kill hundreds.
It isn't the 1800s anymore where we would just push people off their land by forcing them to sell it at laughable prices at gunpoint.

Also funding comes from a mix of state and feds, and feds cut funding because of the current administration's hateboner for califonia. One of our bigger contracts paused it so now we're out like 40% of our expected monthly revenue and if we don't find more contracts to work on in 2 months the company is dead and that's pretty fucking epic.

Another trade-off is you get paid a little less IIRC (Cleaners start at $21/hr and skyrocket, ERC I think get $20/hr, at least in my area at the time), plus you are far more at the whims of the trains. Mussolini does not run Amtrak, Amtrak loves to be incompetent. You will be on trains for longer than you want to be. You will see people die if your station isn't one just for your crew (this is highly likely) by sheer virtue of accuracy by volume. Your average coworker is probably on drugs (not threatening but it means they're fucking stupid and only capable of cleaning things).

how do people do it? i started working at an amazon warehouse 2 months ago since nothing else will hire me, after being a neet basically since i was 16. im just tired all the time and completely apathetic, even more apathetic than when i was a neet. sometimes i cant even be bothered to feed myself after work, and then theres other things you have to do that also feel like work after you get off of work. how do people do this shit!

You sound either depressed or boring. Single parent growing up?

You're a man. Don't lose out on that advantage. Your body can grow and adapt to things phenomenally quickly if you get your sleep, non seedoil/refined goyslop food, and now we have it ez mode with supplements. Get 100iu vitD per kg, omega3/6/9 combo, a multivit, and some supergreens powder. I also take biotin & glucosamine chondrite (at half the bottle's dose since I'm still younge). Get a probiotic protein powder too or some yogurt or something. I get all my water from those refillable stations with the 20L jugs. I'd use some kind of giga filter on tap water otherwise.

I started streaming this year to stay sober as it serves as a creative outlet. My only irl friend got engaged so it's nice having other people who come in and talk vidya. I like my little community.

I miss drawing lewd commissions.
It was a comfy side job.
Doing OCs was the most fun. I'd give the client extra sketches when I really liked the design.

I don't have to. I invest my money. Just go get a meme degree so you can get paid. If you're not going in person use the MGIB because you get a bigger payout.

I decided to try making kilju in a jar and managed to actually make something with decent alcohol content in it over 4 days
It inspired me to get one of those mead brewing kits from Amazon
Got a gallon glass jug with a rubber stopper top with an airlock and a cap for storage on sale from Amazon for $17, it even came with some yeast and nutrient
Then I got some funnels, a thermometer and gravity measure
All of it was probably about $50-60
But you don't even really need to spend that if you don't want
You can try brewing with just sugar and yeast in some water from the grocery store, or even just juice and yeast, maybe using stuff laying around the house
I'm currently trying to make strawberry wine
It fizzed like crazy and blew the sticky sweet foamy swill out of the airlock 3 times, ended up pouring out 2/3 of the original content (I left it at like 100-110 deg. F initially and didn't cool it down)
It's pretty comfy and I call whatever's fizzing in the jug/jar my roommate
It's not a crazy amount of time you're spending either, it's mostly frontloaded to the initial preparation and then either fixing it soon after the start or checking the gravity later
I'm trying to serve something to guests for my housewarming party late this month
