i just got bleak faith: forsaken on the steam sale and it's a pretty fucking cool soulslike. it's a bit janky but the setting is awesome if you're into megastructure type content. i'm only a few hours in but this game has a similar feel to "blame!", sort of a sci fi/fantasy mix. anyone else play this?
Wasn't this the one that got shit on for stealing a bunch of animations and such?
>>722534637They supposedly bought animations from the asset store and didn't realize they were stolen re-uploads
>>722534637>>722534761that would explain why the combat has decent weight kek
>>722535203They apparently replaced all of the stolen animations in an update not too long after the release
>>722533909I finished it last month and really liked it too. Nice atmosphere and environments. I wanted to do another playthrough but didn't because newgame+ doesn't really change much. It just increases enemy HP and damage. They are working on a DLC and got ideas for a proper new game +. Hopefully it releases next year if it doesn't get cancelled.
>>722535960>DLCnice, glad they are still working on it and supporting it. i waited until it was half off but i probably would have paid full price if i knew i'd dig it this much, i really like the setting. i read blame! and watched cube recently so i just want more good megastructure media.
>>722533909>anyone else play this?I did. I bring it up in BLAME!/megastructure threads.
>no souls to lose/regain, just pure XP for killscomfy as fuck for exploration, ngl
>>722536664any other reqs for games/books/tv that feel like blame!/BF:F? i have read blame! like three times, i cant get enough
>>722537461It was necessary because the levels are so huge. Makes the game feel more like a traditional rpg too instead of a pure soulslike. Focuses more on exploration than difficulty. Is a really chill game.
>>722537615>gamesNaissanceELorn's LureBABBDIBeton BrutalYou should read the other series by Nihei if you haven't already. Also the movie Angel's Egg is getting a remaster this year, you can check that out.
>>722536664>>722537615>>722539509Some upcoming ones to put on your Wishlist or somethinghttps://store.steampowered.com/app/2830030/MOTORSLICE/https://store.steampowered.com/app/2980260/Hypogea/https://store.steampowered.com/app/1933000/Luna_Abyss/
>>722537615Oh yeah and this one since it wasn't mentioned.https://store.steampowered.com/app/3539440/Metal_Garden/
>>722533909I saw a Montenegrin guy stream it and it looked like the jankiest piece of shit you ever did see
>>722540304very cool stuff. I'll repay with some of my wishlist:https://store.steampowered.com/app/2547010/Mik/https://store.steampowered.com/app/3962460/THE_CANON_OF_BALLS/https://store.steampowered.com/app/2063390/VA_Proxy/
>>722540758Jank is definitely there but is not worse than Bethesda games at launch.
>>722541219touche
>>722540304>>722541082Thanks, people like you are why I visit /v/. Love getting recs for games I wouldn't have known about. If it were reddit, they would try to tell me to play Hollow Knight as if everyone doesn't know Hollow Knight. I already knew about VA Proxy because of the nuke parry. Motorslice and Hypogea look cool, so I added those to my wishlist. Gonna try their demos on my Deck. I hope we get a game with a protag who's like Killy. I want to shoot some bitch niggas with the world's strongest gun.
My favorite boss fight was Wormlord. It wasn't fun to play but it looked super cool. https://youtu.be/FMt2YM9P0uU?si=q0s9FzILXGvh6DpE
>>722541896I hate redditors almost as much as I hate silicon life
>>722539509>>722540304>>722540425ty lads
>>722543958the concept of the jupiter room is what made me read blame! in the first place. i dont know much about manga so i dont know if it's underrated or not, but every sci fi fan out there should read blame!
I liked how they took that heilung song they had for their kickstarter trailer since it was a big part of vibe and just made pretty much the same thing but with a serbian poem.
>>722543958I dunno if it's just the scans or what but whenever I see Blame screenshots it looks real hard for me to tell whatever the fuck is going on with its art
>>722546642Sad a lot of things from that trailer didn't make it to the final game.
Not a big fan of the desert and the area that is basically a bunch of towers, exploration felt really tedious there, still loved the game, jank included.
>>722537615whats BF:F?
>>722548767best friends: forever
>>722548662Game needed more mobility. Some spell that made you go faster. That Desert was annoying to travel with the instant kill worm.
>>722533909blamelikeswhy is blame so popular now
You didn't beat the game.
>>722549590>now
>>722536664>>722537615perioeteia and g string if your really stretching it, only mentioning those 2 because there both blame! inspired but only a little bit and every other indie mega structure game has already been brought up
>>722550216fuck i cant spell for shit, just know that the level design in both isnt the best and thats putting it lightly, also i guess E.Y.E. has some mega structureshttps://store.steampowered.com/app/1224600/G_String/https://store.steampowered.com/app/1437760/Peripeteia/
>>722549590>suddenly
>>722537615AI Limit. It's anime but many of the environments are through megastructures. Level design is good. It's like Bleak Faith if it wasn't shit
>>722551370Surprised how good the level design is in that game considering it's a chink ripoff of dark souls
>>722550576g-string is supposed to be getting a big graphical overhaul again at some point.it's very much in a never ever state tho.
>>722533909It is the best surreal video game I've ever played and I played it on launch. I still feel like that game was a dream/nightmare and that you and me are still trapped in that dream.
>>722537615manifold garden
>>722533909>more souls slop thrown on the pileFuck souls slop. dark souls is a shit game stop making this garbage.
>>722533909Looks like a bunch of shit slapped together in Unreal that's not cohesive enough to really carry the vision of the surface level interesting visuals and setting they have. Kind of like Hellpoint. Remember Hellpoint? Kind of the same thing. Interesting, not terrible, but just too obviously slapped together from premade bought stuff to really hit it with the niche crowd.
>>722533909I’ve always liked this shot. Are the enemies more weird techno organic matrix squids?
>>722533909i killed the first enemy and realized the game was a piece of shitcool setting though
>>722533909Just play Doll's Nest if you want a soulslike with megastructures. This slop is embarrassing, they were even caught ripping off Fromsoft's assets.
>>722549590Out of 10!
>>722533909Huh, looks interesting. What's the premise?
>>722548767check the OP
>>722558318not quite sure of the story but the game takes place in the "omnistructure", a gigantic megastructure of huge aqueducts, bridges, towers etc with pockets of life/different biomes here and there. the setting is a mix of sci fi and fantasy with armored knights fighting robotic humanoid creatures wielding axes etc. this game does not have the typical souls mechanic, rather it uses a more typical XP on kill system, which makes the experience slightly more forgiving
What would you guys want in a megastructure game that wasn't just a bunch of cosmetic background and instead a tangible enviroment that the player can travel for kilometres both horizontally and vertically?
>>722558897I want a space game that takes place in a megastructure, where you physically fly your ship between dungeons and towns and have dogfights in between.
>>722533909I was willing to give this game the benefit of the doubt, when it was in development. But when it finally came out, it became painfully obvious the devs used stolen assets for their game. So I'm no longer interested, on sale or not.
the environment in this game is a pure blamekinoeverything else is practically garbageFrom something similar in atmosphere there is Let it die, gameplay there, although you run through the guts, but narratively it's one huge megastructure. And the music is cool.
>>722535960>dlcthat's good news
Is there a gravitational beam emitter in this one?
>>722541896I heard about these games on reddit long before here. Generally, 4troon is very bad for this sort of discussion
>>722533909I have never heard of it until now.Was planning to get Lords of the Fallen, but this looks interesting too. Should i buy it before the sales end?
>>722535960>dlcbut the game is still in early access...?
>>722570451yes
