Forbidden Memories is fun to play until you get past the tournament and hit the ginormous grind wall
Duelists of the Roses uses some of the same systems of FM but also massively changes how duels are played into a very unique and fun experience.
The Sacred Cards is a good ride with it's own elemental weakness system different from FM and DotR, it also lets (You) be the protagonist of the Battle City arc.
Capsule Monster Coliseum takes everything and turns it into a fun sort of SRPG chess hybrid and its pretty much fully voiced too.

You can ran anything you want really. It's not like the duelist AI is too brutal. As long as your deck has a coherent and reliable gameplan, then you'll do fine. If you suck at deck building, then copy the deck of your tag partner so you two can synergize and have a easier time.

I feel like Yugioh is closer to Digimon than Pokemon.

I'm actually okay with everything through XYZ because at least Fusion/Synchro/XYZ all require specific deckbuilding to get to the extra deck monsters. But Legacy of the Duelist really cuts a lot of archetypes in half.

I'm okay with GX era stuff, but then like 75% of usable Fusion monster are Elemental Heroes and the options elsewhere are so limited too (like your deck in >>722549017 using Monarchs which are some of the only worthwhile tribute summons).

I don't think Tag Force 5 meta is too bad since there's viable Synchro and Fusion archetypes, though the menu management is a real pain in the ass.

Is there any way to get different card lists in Legacy of the Duelist? Or how's the card list in Tag Force 6 and 7, I don't think those got English translations?

Ultimate Masters is God tier if you want boomer Yugioh. There is Dark Worlds, but you have to unlock those much later in the game. Not only that but it has some excellent duel puzzles along with duels in which you have to make specific decks for their conditions.

Historically nobody played alt formats because they always devolved into whatever rules make your petdeck meta. Around the time of DUEA Konami released several officially supported alt formats and nobody played them ever. They were so irrelevant I even forget what they were.
Genesys and MBT's no-staples format did not rewind the format very far. Genesys is still 2025 vomit and MBT's winning deck was comprehensive Pendslop with the new generic support from 2022-2024.
I'm not opposed to making Genesys a supported format, but it runs the risk of accelerating players quitting the game when people realize nobody actually wants a weaker game unless their petdeck is meta.
