I'm a Sonicfan, redpill me on the Mega Man series, including his counterparts
>>
It would take you less time to just boot up Mega Man X and play it than it would to read any explanation

Classic is the most consistently good, 7 and 8 are a bit different but I still think they're fun experiences

X is a lot of fun, but X5 and onwards are divisive
I'd say up to X6 is fun, X7 is ass, X8 is okay

Zero is pretty renowned, very fun fast paced gameplay and the series has a damn good story
My favorite series of them all

ZX and ZX Advent continue the Zero timeline but are a bit "mid 2000s trying to appeal to Japanese youth" if you catch my drift
Still fun

Battle Network is its own timeline and is a grid based battler real time RPG
I only played 5 but I quite enjoyed it as a child and it's a good formula with the chips and fusions

Star Force is a weird continuation of Battle Network's idea, it has some fans but I have no experience with it

Timeline is Classic->X->Zero->ZX
Battle Network is an alternate timeline where the Internet was the focus for Light/Wily instead of robotics

Mega Man Zero is the best series of action platformers of all time except they poured a hot steaming pile of obtrusive RPG mechanics on top of it

I've always felt that classic and X strove to fulfill two very different premises. Classic is built around posing challenges to the player and the expectation is that they'll probably fail a lot before they master each stage. Mega Man has limitations baked into his kit and he can't really take that many hits before he dies. Later games add a bunch of shit to make the experience easier, but these games are still designed to be kinda difficult.

MMX is more about giving the player a stronger sense of power and control. Most stages aren't that hard and it's probably not wholly uncommon for someone to beat a stage on the first try.

you platform and shoot things while on a 2d plane. if you haven't played a game like this already then you're more stupid than kids.

Why are they confused when they think of the classic games? Those ones kick ass too.

Play mm2 and mmx4
The rest of classic and x are redundant
Zero and zx are gay
Legends is cringe 3d doesnt work for mm
Bn and starforce is for pedos

In the classic series Megaman is Sonic, Protoman is Knuckles and Bass is Shadow.

In the X series, X is Sonic and Zero is Shadow.

The good games on NES are Mega Man 2, 3, and 4, but the series mechanics aren't complete until 4. 5 and 6 are just more of 4 if you like it.

The good Megaman X games are X and X2. X3 and X4 are more of X2 if you like it, but it's downhill from there.

Zero got his own spinoff series just like Shadow. The first 2 Zero games are good.

There's also the ZX series if you want more.

And Megaman has had even more spinoffs that are completely different than the 2D platformer gameplay.
