Why would you ever want to use PAL ISOs? Using a PAL CRT isn't a reason. Throw that shit in the trash where it belongs and stop being European.

Isn't PAL higher resolution? I'm fm Europe but conflicted on downloading US ROMs as they aren't compatible with PAL saves.

Most PAL releases just fill the extra resolution with black borders. Up to you though if you have saves

Pal has to run at a lower hz (50 compared to 60 hz ntsc has)
As a result, its common for games to run like 10% slower if devs dont account for this.
Pal CAN have better image quality with this one specific connector which specific pal tv sets have, but no pal games do not have better resolution compared to ntsc games

it varies on the title. in 99% of the case you will want progressive scan + 60hz.

the game is in interlaced mode now which doesn't play friendly at all with progressive scan mode. hdtvs dont do interlaced anymore they're all progressive scan.

thanks hoss, I'll look into it. popstarter wont work, and my PS2 is currently configured for FMcB to run a razzberry pi with a HDD plugged directly into it. It'd be great to run PS1 shit like I run my PS2 roms.

you cant do that because the ps1 cpu on ps2 board is used for both ps1 backward compatibility and ps2 I/O functions such as the hdd bay. as soon as you put ps2 in the genuine ps1 mode it stops reading the hdd.
