How the fuck did Phil let it get this bad?
>>
360 was the last good Xbox console, but even then PS3 was a better offer.
>>
I really want to throw out my entire gaming hardware collection and just start over from zero.
>>
>>722543782
looks more like they're in the middle of moving sections. if they stopped selling it then it would be gone from their website.
>>
>>722544129
What would you start over with?
>>
>>722543782
I legitimately wish I had never got an Xbox One. I think I played it maybe 3 times and it was Dead Rising 4 which is also on PlayStation, and it sucked anyway. Now it just sits in my entertainment center taking up space, collecting dust. I don’t even know what to do with it since it’s essentially worthless. I guess just put it in the closet for a few years and eventually throw it away.
>>
>>722544589
Seeing how far I could get on PC-only.
>>
>>722544602
Yea the Xbox One killed them just a bad console and bad decisions
>>
>>722543782
look at all those switch 1 games
>>
>>722543871
maybe at the very end of its life cycle BUT you had to own one of the few first editions of backwards compatible consoles and even then that's being generous. ps3 was absolute dogshit for most of its life
>>
>>722544576
I don't believe it. I just saw this at my local Walmart too. I was trying out the Switch 2 demo unit to see how the new Joycon felt and I saw the Xbox display packed up and the Xbox games in boxes two aisles down.

>>
>>722545207
what a fucking disgrace
>>
If Xbox drops out of the console industry entirely, I wonder what their fanboys will replace it with.
Will they just go outside and drop gaming entirely?
>>
>>722543871
Microsoft never released a good console.
>>
phil spencer did imeasurable damage to the brand, far more than what mattrick could do.
This whole thing is an interesting case study on why you can't keep giving your tenured proven track record employees second and third chances assuming they will pull through eventually like they used to.
>>
>>722545295
Trick question, xbox has no fan boys.
>>
>>722545295

They will become Asus fanboys.

Shame how Nintendo stopped making consoles after the Wii-U flopped
>>
>>722545374
Both the OG and 360 were objectively good consoles, don't give into revisionism it is never right.
>>

>>722545259
Whats more a disgrace is you believe the larper instead of actual employee.

I noticed this a month ago at my city's Wal-Mart. There was no dedicated section selling Xbox games behind a glass case anymore, but there was still Xbox Series consoles being sold. There was maybe half a dozen Xbox games left in the $15 and $20 clearance section.

Playstation and Switch still had a dedicated section selling their games, but their sections didn't look that healthy either, they had both been downsized to about half of their previous space. They were still there at least.
>>
>>722545545
The difference is people weren't pissed at Nintendo for the Wii U, they just skipped over them that generation. Xbox on the other hand still gets shit for that initial show case, despite moving past it over a decade ago.
>>
>>722545550
OG sure, but the 360 was always worthless.
>>
>>722545545
The problem here is Microsoft's attempt to course-correct from this ended up straying them further and further from restoring viability as a console player. The only thing that really felt like they were reigniting interest in the Xbox ecosystem for the Xbox One itself was through the addition of backwards compatibility, which they've now stopped adding to.

Pretty much every other move they made to dig themselves out of the hole of the Xbox One's bad first impression has made it harder for them to be taken seriously as a gaming hardware company.
>>
>>722544602
Ninja gaiden you dumb zoomer
>>
>>722545789
So you're saying NO ONE in the 7th gen had a genuinely good reason to own one?
>>
>>722543782
Xbox wants to go full cloud by selling you a roku stick instead of being a console maker.
>>
>>722544602
Same, except with Gears instead of DR 4.
>>
>>722545996
backwards compat was a move rooted in good intentions but financially a dumb idea as most people do not care about old games.
They needed essentially a BOTW tier system seller and never came even close.
>>
>>722546164
>They needed essentially a BOTW tier system seller and never came even close.
The moment Starfield was a confirmed flop and not a system seller is when everyone realized there was no saving the console. Literally three months later they announced they'd be releasing shit on PS5.
>>
Costco and Sam's Club are clearance selling Xboxes, you can get a Series S for $230 ish now
>>
The worst thing about modern xbox is the fucking naming conventions. Even Nintendo realized they are better off just putting numbers in front of their consoles now.
>>
>>722545545
Nintendo still has quite a few exclusives that people will buy a console for like Mario, Zelda, Pokemon. Xbox hasn't had a good exclusive in a decade.
>>
>>722545772
But honestly they HAVEN'T moved past it. It's still doing damage that has left us in this situation. Virtually every big decision in the aftermath of this feels like it was made to try to make people care about Xbox again after losing so much mainstream credibility following the bad debut of the Xbox One.

And, TBQH, I actually think it's worked...but the problem is that the way they went about it has ingrained a sentiment in the market that Xbox as a hardware brand doesn't need to exist and Microsoft's gaming presence can be carried on via other avenues. I think Xbox on name value could be a decently strong player in the market but the Xbox console venture is dead.

Right now? The vast majority of games worth playing are either on PC or emulatable on PC (Switch 1 exclusives)
The rest, just get a Switch 2.
Switch 2 + PC is the true master race for the moment
>>
I'll never forgive them for the master chief collection achievements being so fucking gay.
>>
>>722545468
this
"Xbox" is going to become a "cloud gaming" platform with how they're doing that new marketing campaign where everything is an xbox.

Halo was THE console FPS everyone wanted to copy, until they allowed CoD to take the throne by letting 343 completely kill the franchise undisturbed not one, not twice, but thrice within a decade.
It's a fuck up at a level that should be studied.
>>
>>722546753
But they adapted to that well. They made the 360 THE home of Call of Duty during gen 7. If you were playing CoD, you were doing it on Xbox 360.

They just let that slip through their fingers thanks to the Xbox One shitting the bed. Activision took their business over to Sony afterwards because Microsoft's audience realized Microsoft wasn't going to be the place to be. The Xbox 360 audience became the PlayStation 4 audience.
>>
>>722546823
>But they adapted to that well. They made the 360 THE home of Call of Duty during gen 7. If you were playing CoD, you were doing it on Xbox 360.
On Xbox 360 you were playing Halo 3 or CoD. It wasn't until very late in the console's lifetime that 343 released Halo 4 and started the the decline towards irrelevancy.
>>
>>722545470
That's what everyone posted about the Wii U back in 2016, Nintendo will kneel and go third party in your lifetime blah blah blah It's impressive how they managed to bounce back with the Switch. Microsoft doesn't have any talented people left to make the same comeback for their console brand. Even if the next Xbox is 10x more powerful than the PS6, nobody would care when PC exists.
>>
>>722547045
>It's impressive how they managed to bounce back with the Switch.

I think part of that was seeing what people were actually liking about the Wii U and tried to figure out how to leverage that without any of the baggage that held the Wii U back. The Switch feels like the best ideas of the Wii U and none of the things it got wrong.
>>
How does Phil still have a job?
>>
>>722545789
Yeah, cause the PS3 was such a good deal with absolutely no exclusives and shittier multiplats until the very of it's lifespan. Wii + 360 was the must have combo, full on idort didn't make sense for a long while.
>>
>>722545789
dead rising alone made 360 the best until 2010
>>
>>722548228
At this point his job has been Activision/Minecraft tardwrangler that occasionally lays off a studio to offset costs
>>
>>722548396

It's more like a combination of limited resources and finding people who like F-Zero enough to make a F-Zero game. There was a rumor that they asked Criterion to make one back during the Wii U days but they chose to make another Need for Speed game instead.
>>
>>722548668
Bro be thankful he just posted the saved image from it rather than including the tweet too.

People from 2000 would have been tweeting about the PS2 and GameCube if it was around back then too. Keep that in mind.
