Like it or not, this is PEAK Shadow. Even while glimpsing into the future and understanding that the people he fights for will betray him, he will still fight for them because he needs to. He had discarded any notion of his past and only looks forward to the good he can do because that's what Sonic showed him he could do. Even the people backing him up unquestionably denotes what a hero he had become. An emotionless robot bent on retribution and justice understands that Shadow's path is one bent on utter righteousness. A former jewel thief only in service of herself is so enamored with him and his moral code, she is willing to back him against a literal demon. And MEPHILES, literally created from his physical and genetic data, tempts him like Lucifer himself into being a worse version of the hedgehog, but Shadow rebukes him without so much as a second thought. This is the only time Shadow ever removed - or even hinted at having - his limiters, showing how serious he was at fighting for what he believed in. But because this was the worst-received Sonic game, we'll never get this absolute kino again. Why even live?
