What did you think of Metaphor Re:Fantazio?
I have not played it but it looks cool.
>>722548957it was pozzed so I didn't play it
>>722548957A waste of a premise but still better than shitsona if only for press turn
>>722548957Gallica sexo
>>722548957Best JRPG of the decade so far.
>>722548957Really good game with a cool world and soundtrack.Writing was mostly good, but it kind of shat itself during the final stretch and you could tell that the game wasn't properly finished.
>>722548957If some average slop had sex with an equally average or worser slop it would produce the peak of mediocrity slop i.e. Metaphor ReFantazio.
Should have won GOTY
Louis was right about everything and the game developers had to infere at every turn to convince the player otherwise
Pretty good
>>722548957>good soundtrack>character designs are cool>art styles is cool>cast is whatever>no romance>BORING so FUCKING BORINGglad i pirated instead of buying this game
>>722548957I played the demo but it was kinda boring, crashed halfway through and never booted it back up
>>722549429>Claims that he deserves to rule because he's strong enough to resist humanization>Turns into a human after getting punched in the face a few timesHe was demonstrably wrong about that. But I guess his libertarian bullshit was technically correct, in that the stronger party got to exert their will.
>>722548957It was pretty alright. I liked my racist bat dad.
>>722548957Had some nitpicks with the archetype system (like having to manually switch around specific items you wanted every time you tweaked the loadout, or how the Royal Archetypes end up being a clear-cut best choice for the final act of the game), but I enjoyed the story and setting quite a bit and actually remember the experience much more fondly than Persona 5.
Very condescending and patronising
>>722548957waiting for a golden or royal or something edition. I will not make the same mistake with atlus games again
It's kinda good but would've been better with a more attractive cast and more world map locations to explore.
>>722549348I liked the finale well enough, but it feels like they had to rush to wrap up some subplots because they didn't have enough time to make the mage academy into a proper dungeon.
>>722548957It was good.
>>722548957It was based so I beat it twice and 100%'d it
It's basically a barebones Persona game.I expected way more from the game.I enjoyed it, but it should have been so much better.
>>722548957None of the dungeons really blew me away which made the final month a bit of a slog, but I had fun overall. And I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a game's main villain as much as Louis.
>>722548957Incredible game, really liked the feeling of journeying together with the party.
>>722548957It was alright. I've been going through a bunch of JRPGs on a binge lately. I've replayed P3R, DQ3, E33, DQ11, DQM3, SMT3, and Breath of Fire 4 in the last few months but I've not felt the itch to revisit Metaphor. Idk.
>>722548957It increased my tolerance levels.
>>722550263His VA was amazing, really sad how all awards snubbed him.
>>722550171I figured that was only a Persona thing. Don't know if Metaphor is a big enough name by comparison for them to try to double-dip with it.
>>722550303Yeah, while the game is obviously aping the Persona calendar system, I think the element of turning that format into a big road trip added a lot for me. I felt like there was always something worthwhile to do to fill up the timeslots when you're traveling.
I really liked the visual design.
>>722548957it feels like a japanese game supervised by a DEI company. Instead of providing a good narrative it has an emphasis on lecturing you why racism is bad.
>>722550481Cute gnome
>>722550406They won't do double dipping unless they release some extra content with it or something. They should make another Metaphor game and make it a franchise of its own that's more experimental.
>>722548957Atlus finally made a good mascot character
>>722550263every scene and battle with him in it was pure kinohttps://youtu.be/Ob7wTROGwFk
>>722550647>They should make another Metaphor game and make it a franchise of its own that's more experimentalI want them to do this so badly. It has the potential to become my favorite Atlus series

>>722550835i'm starting to think that atlus is trying to pander to fujos after SMT VV and this
>>722550835Happy that Basilio is that high but pissed Neuras is that low
>>722550835
>>722548957Mostly good. The pacing gets fucked towards the end. I'm pretty sure most of the hate it gets is because people would rather have P6.Unfortunately, it's doomed to obscurity since no coom, no sales.
>>722550745If you like something, you fucking buy it so you get more of it. Or you won't get more of it in the future. Piggy up faggot, piggy up.

>>722548957Was fun, Catherina best girl and should have been my queen that I plap every night.
>>722549348>the game wasn't properly finished. It held your hand too much because ATLUS sees how fucking braindead and retarded their American fans are.
>>722550835>>722551116That faggot black mutt being so high in both polls is baffling. Hated that ugly fag.
>>722551510Furry faggots have the worst tastes usually, especially when males are involved. They come out of the woodworks.
>>722551510Shit taste. He had one of the better characters arcs of the game
>>722548957AI-written game
I did not like it. The music sucked. The graphics were dogshit with some actual PS2 era shit. You couldn't fuck Brigitta. The Archetypes are far worse than Demons or Personas. The side quests were shit. The game has ugly ass furries. I did like the restart battle function.
>>722550835Well, at least Bat Dad is top ten.
>>722552176>The Archetypes are far worse than Demons or Personas. You're right, magic jobs are way worse than edgy pokemon.
>>722548957Definitely not perfect but I enjoyed it. I really loved the party, mainly because they didn't really follow the archetypes(heh) Persona has been locked in to since 3.
The calendar mechanic doesn't work in a more traditional rpg setting, the dungeons were some of Atlus' worst, grinding Archetype levels was tedious, and there were large stretches of the game that felt rushed after the opera house sequence.
>>722552176The archetypes were my favorite twist on the formula. I had a lot of fun creating different party set ups. Persona party members are super limited in comparison.
>>722552446I liked using the calendar to plan trips to different locations for quests. I think if they expanded on those aspects it could work well.
>>722548957I want to play it because when it was released, /v/ threw shit to this game for weeks, so it's a good game
>>722549348>but it kind of shat itself during the final stretchIdk I really liked the whole conclusion to the More/Akademia storyline. Felt much more involved in the stories themes than the Velvet Room. I feel really dumb for not putting two and two together that the Royal Magic Magic was the games credits till afterwards.
>>722548957I thought the demo was cool. The world building seemed promising. Haven't bought the full game yet.
>>722551817Man Bas' awakening got me.>Basilio, protect the weak. Not for me, but for yourself.
>>722548957Really enjoyed the game.
>>722551510>hating on Bas
>>722553102If he wasn't so good in combat despite showing up so late I would have benched his ass.
Didn't play it, nor did any but one of all the streamers I watch.I assume it's dogshit.
>>722551510Out of all the characters, why hate Bas? He's one of the most pleasant characters in the game and his family relationship with Del gives them way more depth as characters.
>>722548957Thought it was neat but fell off a little towards the end. I can see an enhanced edition for it in the future for gameplay and story tweaks
>>722548957>took them 8 years to make a shitty p5 cloneNo wonder E33 replaced metaflop
Still need to finish it
>>722548957I would have loved it more if the postgame was longer.
>>722548957It was alright, deserved the GOTY really, but also you can see Atlus hold it back in some places because they wanted the journalist audience. Hope they make another one
>>722548957The Persona calendar structure adds nothing to this game
>>722554451Neither do the social stats. Probably went through development hell so they had to stick with what worked instead of branching out.But at least it works, unlike the shitty Archetype system.
>>722548957I enjoyed it quite a bit and I kind of hope that all the stuff they were dropping during the epilogue means we are going to get a direct sequel taking place on a different continent.
>>722548957great game, seems like it needs a royal version
Bought it from the Steam sale few days ago. I cleared the cathedral and currently travelling with the gauntlet runner embarking to catch the kidnapper knight. Did the first 2 bounties, desert dog and Goblin king, and the merchant quest of downing the minotaur. The game's fun and Hulkenberg is great. The noble guy is ok, I keep associating him with Jean from Attack on Titans because of the similar designs
>>722550263I just wish Louis didn’t turn into a typical atlus chaosfag at the end
>>722548957I thought the game was fine overall, tying Archetypes to story progression (through social links) sucks dick. And that's ignoring the fact that the Royal Archetypes are optimal anyways, which also blows.
>>722554173>postgame
>>722548957liked it more than Persona 5but music and bosses/enemies needed more varietyalso the last part of the game had some big up and downsno Gallica romance is the worst part though
test
It was alright, Louis fights were all giga pushovers though
>>722555596All the late game fights are bad. Balance is completely out of whack.
>>722555547Are you trying to see if you're still b&? You should post something like FUCK JANNIES next time.
>>722555596Even the full-power version? Though admittedly I did cheese that by spamming the +turn item.
>>722548957just started playing it, so far it's kept my interest
>>722555751yeah i killed the full power version in 1 party turn and also the ng+ superboss in 1 party turn both on merciless game is a joke with well made late game builds
>>722550835fujos are not people and do not deserve rights
>>722548957Solid game. Production was high all around, there were a few standout dungeons mixed with the mediocre ones and the job system was good. Played EO3 & SMTVV afterwards really made me appreciate Metaphor. I think EO3 is the best of the bunch as a dungeon enthusiast but a lot about the job system there just feels bad. Didn't finish SMTVV because I find the verticality hard to stomach. I can deduce the proper path to places in both EO3 & Metaphor by staring at the map but SMTV just has too many hidden rails which can be any distance away. I value smoothness in JRPGs, the ability to figure out hidden dungeon areas without needing a guide. I don't think SMTVV was very smooth but Metaphor went down really easy.
>/v/ tells me it's better than Persona 5>it has all the issues Persona 5 has and more
>>722548957Louis was hot but had no real depth. The enemy designs were cool until they either ran out of time or fucks to give and started just recoloring them like shiny Pokemon. I don't know why the calendar system or the friendship event system needed to exist. Also, the fact they made interesting locations but they're just still images you look at before going the generic tower or hallway dungeon is SHIT.
>>722548957weebslop
>>722556521While I agree in this case, are there any weeb games that aren't slop in your eyes?
>>722551332
>>722548957it's alright
>>722548957Just a straight upgrade from persona almost across the board. Only felt the music wasn't better. This is mostly because it's not in fucking high school. It should have gone harder into both it's dark themes and fun scenes. It did need to work on its tonal whiplash a bit too. I'd play another for sure.>>722551116Hulkenberg is best
>>722556521Funny how there are two Trails threads up you didn't post this there.
>>722555825And why should it be a problem? JRPGs are fun because you can break their mechanics with fun builds.
>>722557486those are weebslop too, stay mad
>>722548957It's alright. Side dungeons suck and are copy pasted corridors. The academy should have been an entire chapter.
>>722557595Whatever you say, Trails troon.
>>722557559It's not a bad thing, the endgame is very fun (because you can 1 shot everything) I just think the Louis fights in particular (especially the earlier ones) are comically bad and easy. His AI is garbage and considering they built up fighting him for the entire game, seeing him attack into a nulled element, wasting all of his turns over and over again and then dying in like 2 or 3 turns on the hardest difficulty. It was just really poorly done imo.
>>722548957I loved the ending, I don't know why anons call it bad, I thought it was amazing and comfy. Also Louis final form song is so underrated, probably my favorite song.
>>722556406this, hashino learned nothing and just made persona 5 again even if it doesn’t look like it
>>722557831If Charybdis Destroyer ajusted his elements according to the party weaknesses, a bunch of players would not clear the game. I read people crying about how hard is the final fight, even more after Louis add turns. Not everyone knows about the bat busted skill.
good
It has problems but overall I would recommend it before the vast majority of other JRPGs
>>722548957Good music, swapping personas for classes you can assign multiple units to is a good idea, unlocking abilities permanently and having a separate stat so people don't put all the best attacks on a character super early is great for balancing, the plot was engaging enough for me to play through it nonstop without taking a break from being burnt out.
>>722557831>>722558069Louis's sword in the 2 human fights should have a permanent pierce effect that goes through resistances, by that point in the game the player should be able to full buff insanely fast and Heismay should be a dodge god (even without the ultimate skill) so taking true damage as his gimmick wouldn't even be that strong. Just something to keep him from literally killing himself on the player.
>>722552473Originally, Persona allowed every party member to wield any persona tooOnly from 3 onward that only the protagonist has the exclusive status
>>722556686Xenogears
I bought it, got to the first town, didn't play it for a few days then started on a neutral run in tactics ogre. Tactics Ogre us a good gameThe only persona game I played was 3
>>722548957Bready gud. Probably like a 7 or 8. 100%'d it just for the sake of it but the NG+ experience was really really bad. I really liked my first playthrough though. Please do not make another not-Persona game without romance though, there was literally zero benefit to this game not having the option to fuck Junah.
>>722554447why do americans ruin and destroy everythingq
>>722548957Louis and Senator Armstrong are /v/core heroes.
Louis did nothing wrongGallica best Atlus mascotSide dungeons were incredibly repetitiveFuck that stupid dragon on the tower that only takes almighty damage, has 4-8 turns and inflicts all stats ailments
>>722548957There've been a lot of threads lately. What's going on? But I've gotta get back into the game. A few days before delivering the lance, but those side-quests and strong enemies are kicking my ass or testing my patience. The game is really great though, and boss encounters have been a bit of smooth sailing and challenging.>>722556406Persona 6 is in trouble if they really can't move past Persona 5 lite.
>>722561847Persona 5 was such achievement to the JRPG genre, they know they can't repeat the feat with Persona 6.
>>722548957it was fun but it was just fantasy persona
>>722549348I got a good laugh out of calling that one final boss move "the racism attack"
>>722548957one of the best fatlus games if not the very bestavoided all of their classic game design pitfalls and improved on the changes made to the SMT combat system in Vthe combat and the job system are both 10/10 and I wish they became the standard for the company from now onthe purse owner calendar sucks tho
>>722548957I'll divide my opinion into story and gameplay.Story: genius premise, imperfect execution, overall decent quality. The premise of going on magic king elections tour is rad as fuck and quite often I was going forward just because the idea was so cool. The entire first dungeon is actually probably the worst part of the game solely because the idea isn't introduced yet.Unfortunately, the execution of storytelling just can't measure up to the ambition of the premise. Writing focuses a lot on racism and politics at the expense of many other worldbuilding details, but it can't say much about politics besides "shit can't be solved without years of consistent effort" (which is admittedly completely correct). I don't feel right saying things should have been less ambitious, but the focus should be placed elsewhere if they can't afford to discuss politics more deeply.Still, the writing is actually pretty good and has less problems than most Persona games. I guess it's a bit more boring but also more consistent. Poor choice of focus serves as an Achiles Heel for it, though, it could be great.Gameplay is just GOAT. Probably either the best or one of best JRPG combats I've ever played. It's just consistently fun as fuck and incredibly well developed. This is probably the main reason I love this game. The game has a lot more emphasis on dungeons than social sim too. Social links often feel like more of a break from dungeons and travel than a full part of the game. Which is why those who say that Metaphor is just Persona 6 obviously never played it, the focus of the experience is entirely different.Overall it's a great game and a great JRPG. It probably appeals more to core JRPG fans rather than people who just want a social life sim (and I am in both demographics). What I'm really looking forward to is another game in this series. I feel like it could be really special if they continued to develop on the concepts and the world.
>>722548957I tried the demo and it didn't do much to grab me
>>722567926how did you feel about the social link system?for me i was a little annoyed that they stuck so strictly to their tried and true formula. It really hurt this feeling of going on a world tour when they had to shoehorn in a magic teleporter just to ensure that previous locations were always avaiable for the social links. It could have been a real opportunity to do something interesting by working with the limitations. From the preview stuff they did for the game I got the impression after moving on from an area it would be inaccessible since they would go on about how you only had a limited time to do things. I was interested to see how they would handle the social links under such a constraint. Would some social links travel along with the tournament, would they do something like writing letters back and forth for those who didn't travel. When they drop the teleporter on you just after you arrive at the next area i was pretty disappointed
>>722567952funny cause it was the opposite for meI had zero interest in the game until I played the demo and it was so good I kept playing it for 30 hours
>>722568795Yeah I wish they had all the SL NPCs on the Gauntlet Runner. They could've expand it to need a full crew. It's also kinda unbelievable that your super special Gauntlet Runner only needs 1 driver when others are shown to have multiple crew.
>>722568795nta, but im in two minds about itoverall, i liked the social links this time, they had more substance to them rather than being 1 conversation spread out over 10 separate instances, magical teleport bullshit aside BUT i hated hiding the upgraded classes behind them. i get why they did it, to force you to level up different stuff to get cross class skills and prepare you for royal archetypes but it felt particularly bad for some classes with only 2 stages of evolution. idk if it's a common sentiment or just my pet peeve but yeah.
>>722569075that would also be a good way to do it. have a larger crew and then sprinkle a few more SL for competitors like catherina or the announcer batlin. And more is off in his own dimension so yeah it was definitley doable. At the very least i hope that there were some initial plans to be more ambitious.>>722569195locking archetypes behind the social links wasn't really a bother to me. locking the royal versions behind multiple max level archetypes that you had no way of knowing was annoying. largely because of the grind you had to do at the end to get enough currency for itthough i didn't feel like the social links stories were that impressive compared to the persona ones. they were still very short and most completely forgettable.
