We're in a transition period where costs are soaring but the market is completely saturated so old business models are becoming rapidly outdated as they are counter productive such as exclusive games or being a walled garden ecosystem. Microsoft won't leave consoles they'll just adjust with the times. So will Sony. By this time in 5 years time there probably won't be anymore exclusives at all and you'll be able to run steam on whatever the next xbox and playstation are.
