Dashslop like Bloodborne

Dodge rolls are a generally better mechanic because they at least involve movement rather than being nothing but "press the i-frame button at the right time to win".
But dodge buttons were better when the i-frames were an implicit rather than explicit mechanic. Something the average player wasn't expected to abuse but something to give wiggle room when using dodges to actually avoid attacks. Parries were also more interesting when whole games weren't designed around them and they actually felt like high risk high reward options that reward mastery, and when they didn't just lead to cinematic finishers.

Parryslop because it looks much cooler than just rolling around.

Based turtler
I decided to try estoc shield poking in all souls games.

why the fuck did they decide to use your weapon stats when blocking an attack while poking in ds3, fucking retarded. Thankfully it can easily be fixed with smithbox.
I'm liking shield poking the most in elden ring, but well most animations are the best there tho.

Rolling directly into enemies instead of away form their attacks should result in you bumping into them and leaving you open.
Souls combat is so fucking stupid and horribly executed.

Before I would have said parryslop, but games like Sekiro, ER, and MH Wilds really show just how braindead "Perfect Block" Mechanics are. They are simply way too forgiving. "Parry" mechanics, like in earlier DS games are fairly balanced, they don't work on everything, have a tight window, and you don't get a fail safe like with perfect blocks, ensuring you get punished if you fail.
Sure, Rollslop has gotten easier as more and more iframes have been given to the players, but when iframes are strict and not generous, like old MH games, it can be incredibly engaging. Of course, when you give everyone super iframe attacks like in newer MH games, or just make rolls baseline OP like in DS3/BB, It can make the game braindead.

Ideally you make rolls like ER, rolls are great because of how many roll catching mechanics enemies and bosses have. But ER gives players so much power with all kinds of different mechanics that it is no longer primarily a roll slop game anymore. it's parryslop, statusslop, buffslop, summonslop, etc. It reminds me of Nioh 1/2. Where you just make the most OP build to kill bosses as fast as possible instead of engaging with mechanics in the later difficulty levels.
