Anyone else actually appreciate the struggling economy in this game? It's a pretty overt criticism of capitalism/financially motivated evangelism that's woven into the gameplay by making you, the player, feel dirt poor and desperate for currency the way the common rabble of Pharloom must feel on a daily basis. Then you reach the Citadel in Act 2 and there are rosaries everywhere, all the enemies you fight drop it, you find rosary strings and loose rosaries in every corner, there's even a secret room with a tool that shoots rosary beads as projectiles. One of Hornet's journal entries mentions that she wonders if the enemy in question is naturally large or if it became so due to the Citadel's excess. Of course, visually speaking, the Citadel is so much gaudier and flashier than the rest of Pharloom, so even on a surface level the intention is pretty clear.Are there any other good examples of games weaving social commentary and critique into the gameplay in a meaningful way? Especially indie games. I'm sure there are, but I can't think of any.
