Aaaaaah, so the price hike was just a preemptive bump so they could just squeeze a little more revenue(not even profit) from the clearance sales

Allegedly they've stopped manufacturing consoles. You won't be able to buy one with GTA 6.
>>
>>722560169
But that would only make the Xbox price spike, as GTA 6 is a timed console exclusive again.

The series x is 5 years old at this point. Honestly, that's long enough for a console.
>>
>>722559974
That window of time 5 years ago when scalpers hoarded the PS5, crypto niggers ade GPU prices incredibly retarded and Halo Infinite beta was deceivingly good sold a good amount of them since in that brief moment the Xbaws Shit | Piss looked like a good idea.

Now I realize they went an entire gen without a new single Gears of War game.
Literally NO GAEMS.
>>
>>722560641
As someone who's gone to japan many times recently you wouldn't know it. There's an unspoken rule to speak only in nip to an indian clerk. I had one get so mad and started shouting, YOU ARE NOT JAPANESE, SAAAR SPEAK ENGLISH, HELLO!. Because they just can't learn the language. It's funny, yet sad.
Here's hoping the new lady actually goes through with her plans on going back to abe era immigration. At the very least the "indian-japan high school/college prep" school is being re-evaluated which is a nice way to say cancelled.
>>
>>722560658
That's the thing, the console is nearing EOL but the next one isn't even in the concept phase yet. Writing is on the wall.
If they go the way of Sega then the next thing to watch is where all the hardware people go once they're out of a job. Last time they went from Sega of America to Microsoft and helped make the Xbox. Xbox shat the bed overall but the consoles themselves are quite well-made.

You are too late fucko.
Unleashed is also on PC, one of those what do they call them, um, yes decompiled versions which is better than the console version.
The Xbox store for ONE and X|S does not have the full catalogue of the Xbox 360.

Damn, I realize they will be shutting down the store.
So many stolen games when they go out like Blue Dragon and Burnout 3, the best version of Ninja Gaiden Black.

They're a better value than consoles, easily
You can build a system that's comparable in power for roughly the same price.
>>
>>722560118
>silver coins
were you trying to hunt a Jewish werewolf?
>>
>>722561432
Well yeah, but consoles charge a monthly subscription for use. even the most basic version of PS+ just to use your own internet costs $18 a month. The point of a console is to be cheap up-front and draw consumers in to make them pay over time, reaping value through fees and other locked-down shit like peripherals, store fees/MTX, etc. PC OEMs make all their money up-front (unless you count nvidia cloud gaming shit I guess)

That's what makes the price hikes worrying for consoles, their whole use-case is a low bar to entry. If they're turning the screws this hard on new users, then they must really be in bad shape vs. other forms of entertainment they're competing with.
>>
>>722561562
What about Windows 11 and how retarded the sars running it have been? Paying a few thousand on a new gaming rig just to have it bricked by a wild update doesn't sound like a recipe for a good time.

Better to have solid mint over paper currency at this point desu. At least gold and silver will always remain consistent. Paper dosh won't even be good enough for toilet paper and your social credits will be revoked long before you can even say oy vey.
>>
>>722561653
Unfortunately this is the most likely outcome. Console users generally do not want to research "The best way to play games" and just want to download the game and play without checking any wikis. PC gaming tends to involve troubleshooting and some (most) people have very little patience for it.
>Capcha: 2JANY
>>
>>722559974
I jumped ship after 360 but I'm thinking about getting a Series S for emulation when it drops around $150.
>>
>>722561653
The mobile audience is unrelated to "premium" gaming that happens on consoles and PCs. The fact that some people play gacha games on a PC or a console is a footnote, and happens purely because they already happened to own said device.

That's the thing, consoles are supposed to be cheap to get you to buy them, then use them for everything because you already own it, and the console maker gets their money back in fees from your usage. e.g. Gachaslop player buys gacha currency through PS' store, PS makes money.
Instead everyone wants to be like Apple and charge luxury prices, but it turns out xboxes and playstations are not indispensable goods like a smartphone is. You can simply not have a console. Whereas not having a phone is retarded.

I myself owned the first Xbox. Played Halo 2, Crimson Skies and NG Black on it. Never went with another Xbox after it and became a full on PC player.

The order came from the top that Xbox as a console is ending, so that they can focus entirely on the Everything Is An Xbox angle. Game Pass needs to prove that it can sustain itself without any of the traditional console revenue. Meanwhile, they will deny that the ending is coming until they absolutely have to disclose it during an investor's meeting.
Retailers are dumping stock probably because they received notification that "future orders for Xbox products are indefinitely suspended" and someone in their team was wise enough to understand what it meant.

I can see why people would still believe this. I mean, looking at the numbers, output, public opinion....it looked like Xbox was ready to pull the plug at any moment between now and halfay into the XBOne's lifespan. People have been saying IT'S FUCKING OGRE for so long that it's basically entirely meaningless. Why would the boy crying wolf actually be a wolf this time?

I mean, it's entirely possible that Microsoft will continue to fund the Xbox division and we'll get to see a Gen 10 Xbox console with an even sillier name and it will continue to sell like shit. Companies like Microsoft are too big to fail, they can just keep paying the cost purely for the market presence, even if their actual market share is less than 10%.

I'm curious why you preppers think silver would matter if fiat collapses.

Let's say I have like a hundred lobsters and you are incapable of taking one by force. You want a lobster, you offer me, a lobster guy, useless silver coins for it and I say no thanks.

Now what the fuck do you do with the silver? look at it while you starve to death? Instead of hoarding silver you should hoard shit you can trade like medicine or cigarettes

>>
>>722563489
Game Pass IS the console now. That's why they raised the price. The whole "Everything is an Xbox" campaign is to get people used to the idea that Game Pass is the way to go, that having a specific Xbox console isn't needed to play Xbox games. This is why they want Game Pass on Switch 2 & PS5, so they have a "Console" inside the competition's console.

This is why they are also going All In on the ROG Ally X, because it's just a Windows PC Handheld.
>>
>>722564094
Yes you should buy crypto and invest in the stock market
>>
>>722564094
Preppers think society will collapse but not that it will collapse so far to the point where the basic rules of commerce will cease to be valid. Meaning that, in the future that they are expecting, humanity will still have a need for valuable materials like silver and gold.

Alternatively, even if you're not a prepper, rare metals are about the safest thing you can invest in. Those things do not fluctuate in price and consistently go up. They are also very easy to understand and trade. There's also the benefit that you can actually buy and store it in your own home. It's also untraceable. Lots of benefits.
>>
>>722564094
FIAT Won't collapse. It's the big game the tribe has been playing on us and how it controls the world.

I still use it pretty frequently, but it's best use is playing my 360 games at higher resolutions and streaming games to my phone. I barely even use Game Pass. I used to be an idort who bought every console every generation but Series X was my last console purchase and I don't foresee ever buying a new one. Never bought a PS5, which paid off since all of its exclusives just got ported anyway, and Switch 2 seems too pointless of an "upgrade" to retire my Switch. PC won the console wars by simply not completely committing suicide.

Even on the x, the drive only reads 50GB discs and basically any AAA game is larger than that so they were already at the game key card phase. I have a series x and gave up physical when even Elden Ring and Stranger of Paradise weren't on the disc.

Sony will be in the same position next gen when games routinely go over 100GB, which is probably why they're planning on selling a disc drive separately just to get access to old stuff you already own.
>>
>>722564094
The simple answer is they were successfully marketed to. There's a reason boomer TV is jam-packed with ads to buy/sell gold. They trick financially secure people into converting their real, useful money into useless metal that sits around doing nothing. Then they charge desperate poor people a fee to convert their jewelry etc. into collateral for loans. Moving value from one place to another and taking a cut, that's what merchants do.
>>
>>722565171
The system relies a lot on the internet, yes.

Such as? How do I figure out if the gold you're giving me is real or if it's a realistic fake? We're much better now at faking gold/silver than we were in Ancient flipping Egypt when people were trading gold without having to double check it. That's what makes it unfeasible in an apocalyptic scenario today. That fake gold isn't just going to go away because the civ collapsed

Motherfuckers are asking 60 euros for a 14 year old game!
>i-it's remastered
I don't care.

Yeah, it's kinda sad how PC don't have disc drives anymore.
>>
>>722561653
Sadly this. Mobile gaming especially gacha are fucking eating Consoles alive PC gaming will always have the niche of having shit like Factorio and Rimworld on it but the reason for owning a console dwindles each day
>>
>>722561948
>650 dollars for a console
I would rather spend it on drugs and then flush them down the toilet in the hopes of saving some junkie from ODing
>>
>>722565246
Aren't there already a couple of PS5 games that aren't fully on disc? I still can't believe they discontinued the PS5 with the disc drive included. I couldn't imagine buying any console that's digital only.
>>
>>722567021
more PS5 games are on disc than Xbox

I'm Russian and consoles here were always much less popular than PC. And even for those hipsters who choose consoles Playstation was always the way to go. That being said there was actually a brief period of time in the late 00's when Xbox 360 became pretty popular among certain audience thanks to it being jailbroken before PS3. So a bunch of teenagers bought 360, were constantly burning their own DVDs and formed community around 360. Later some of them pursuing online multiplayer moved away from piracy and start buying games. You'd be surprised considering how Xbox One generation went, but some of those people are still "team Xbox". I myself moved to PC and Switch 2 these days, but I see people in my friendlist play on Series X. But yes, all of them are driven by nostalgia of those 360 days, they just refuse to move on.

It's a total of 63 games, and most of them are 2K sports games and online multiplayer games. By "not fully on disc" I assume you mean that it's mandatory to have an online connection to even start the game, despite the fact that it is "mostly" on disc. For instance you need a patch to play The Plucky Squire, otherwise you can't progress past a certain point. Balatro is so full of bugs you can't reliably play it without a patch. Hogwarts Legacy needs a 40GB patch, otherwise you can't get past the tutorial. So while you could chalk up most of the single player games needing an online connection due to developer incompetence, you do get the shaft in the end. Majority of games do not have this problem, though, and you need to have a at least a try in making a playable game on disc if you want your game to have a physical copy for the PS5. Not a single box was just a code like for PC and Xbox.

why did you buy switch 2 when nintendo left your country. You are supporting the people that hate you
>>
link to store that has them on clearance to buy online?

There's also the matter that plenty who already own an XSex will buy a PS5 just so they have more people to play online with.
>>
>>722567504
Russia always preferred PCs because you never spent money on games anyway, and its easier to pirate for PC

>>
>>722566596
this
they just want to destroy the secondhand market because THEY dont get any sales from it. R&D could very easily (if they havent already) make some 1tb read/write disc that holds all content off the game and downloads onto it any patches or DLC.
i can easily pick up secondhand new games already 10-20 bucks cheaper a DAY after release, a month later theyre usually already at half.

Xbox is not going away, neither is Microsoft's gaming division. They'll just stop making consoles, but you'll still be able to run games on other devices.
>>
>>722567632
Everyone left our country: Xbox, Playstation, Steam too. And I don't support my country either, everyone in the government who's making decisions should go to frontlines themselves and die there as far as I'm concerned. But answering your question, I bought the Switch precisely for the reason it supports physical copies. Cartridges don't give a fuck where my physical location is. They just work.

My older brother had one so he could keep playing certain games with his online friends. Finally convinced him to switch to PC since said games have crossplay and he ended up selling the thing.
I ended up with a Series S because one of my friends moved out of the country and just gave it to me for free since he didn't really use it. Same for me, only thing I really did with it was play some Xbox Classics and College Football. Sold it after I moved out of the country myself.

Shame to see the state of the console, I was a big Xboxfag during the Original and 360 days and then it just fell off a cliff.
>>
I still don't understand what the xbox generations are past One. I still have no idea what an xbox s or series x even are. Are they two generations or is one a different model of the same basic thing?
>>
>>722559974
I have one. Bought it is a backwards compatibility box/shit PC port player for the TV.
>>
>>722571291
It's retarded but when it launched it made sense. The Series X was the flagship with a disc drive, the Series S was a 1440p budget console without the disc drive. But it was retarded because people confused it with the Xbox One S(lim) and the Xbox One X. Now I legitimately have no idea what the difference in models is, because they have the big version of the console without a disc drive. Is it the Series S but scaled to the Series X so you don't have to have 2 different production lines? Is it a Series X without a disc drive? Can you still buy the Series X with a disc drive? Can you still buy a Series S? I have no fucking clue what is going on over there.
>>
>>722571779
They still have Series S vs Series X to differentiate power levels. It's just the cheaper new Series X is Series X all digital.

Microsoft is likely to downplay or deny any plans for Xbox to exit the market to avoid negative reactions from investors, while carefully managing communications to comply with SEC disclosure requirements.

That price for a Series X is a fucking steal if you don't have a powerful PC. Its an emulation powerhouse, theres lots of Xbox games that cant be emulated that you can play on that in 4k 60fps. Also runs PCSX2 flawlessly in 4k.

I bought one in Covid when my gaming PC died and I couldnt afford the crazy PC prices. Didnt ever regret my purchase and played a fuck ton of PS2 games and OG Xbox games on it and had tons of fun. The emulated port of Gears of War 2 looks absolutely phenomenal and runs in 60 fps

>>722579897
Xbox Dev mode is completely free now. You just put the Series X in dev mode, download emulator apps, then upload them over your IP address. Then you just keep your roms in a external SSD and game away. Then just boot back into normal to play 360 and OG Xbox games
