Do you remember the first time you played this?
>>
>>722563917
Yes, it was in a computer club in 2001, instead of playing CS like everybody else I pressed "Change game" in game launcher and switched to HL and tried to play it.
Got scared shitless after the resonance cascade and then my time ran out
>>
>>722563917
I do. I remember distinctly the credits during the monorail at the start and it realising it was something totally different. Zoomers will never feel that.
>>
>>722564132
Zoomers played this franchisr you balding retard.
>>
>>722563917
yeah it was a few years ago
you could launch boxes across the room at lightspeed but they fixed that in the anniversary update
>>
Yeah played it on PS2, couldnt kill the last boss so put in cheats. Was already bored of it by then.
Tried t play HL2 and got bored of t too, dropped it at some point
>>
>>722564352
I dropped HL2 at water hazard and didn't touch it for a decade
>>
Yes I clipped through the tram in the intro and fell down by the helicopter.
>>
>>722563917
Yep. Was a few years ago now, thought I should finally try it out. I knew it was something special when the Resonance Cascade hit, but the whole game I was blown away by how modern it felt, in a good way. Without it CoD, Halo, pretty much every action fps franchise would not exist.
>>
My dad loaded up the tutorial for me when I was 12, maybe even younger, and that was all I got to play of it. I remember mentioning in passing to my mom that I got to play later the same day and she freaked out on my dad. I don't remember how long it was until I could play the actual campaign after that.
>>
I remember getting HL: Uplink on some pc magazine demo disc and was totally blown away. I got the full game right away (still have the big box in storage), but I don't remember anything of my first playthrough. I do remember playing an obscene amount of mods and total conversions though, planet half-life was literally my browser start page for years.
>>
>>722563917
yeah, it was 3 years ago, I consider it overall better than 2
>>722564132
rent free, millenigger, rent free

>>722563917
i was sat at home eating smegma butter when pjotr ring

‘resinance is cascade’

‘no’
>>
>>722563917
my friend bought a new video card and it came with that, he knew another friend and I were obsessed with doom and quake so he invited us over to show off
>>
>>722564402
idk wat that is but it sounds familiar so might be a similar place.
Last I remember was riding on some water bike thing in some sort of sewer area in a wooded area and I saw Gman in the distance in some sort of boat house.
I just wasnt having fun and unlike HL where it was in a facility I was on a journey across the country or whatever. I had no idea what I was doing or what the story was, just soldiering on.
>>
>>722563917
I liked it a lot. Despite its minimal story, I was hooked on the plot, wondering where Gordon would go after the ending.
>>
>>722564402
>HL2 at water hazard
>>722564925
>idk wat that is but it sounds familiar
I just checked it and it looks familiar. Been ages sicne I played it, but that might have been where I quit too.
Do you get on that jetski thing before or after that part?
I skipped through this YT to try see if I can see the part I remember last but its too long to see it all.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8BcZIRpNYc
I think if I ever play it again I am just gonna put some cheats in so I am invincible and have infinite ammo and just run through it for the story.
>>
>>722565080
Water Hazard is the airboat chapter, yes.
>>
>>722563917
Yes, I quit the game because when I put on the HEV suit I thought alarms were going off because I stole it.
>>
>>722565106
Funny that we both dropped it at the same place then.
Do you know if this part gets criticisms often?
Like it is well known to be a shit part of the game.
Like I said I didnt have a clue WTF was going on or what I was doing and I was not having fun so best to drop it.
>>
Hid in the corner pre-experiment when the computer panel breaks and you have the teleport glass containers. Was pretty scary for 10 year old me. Then i was mind blown seeing Xen during the resonance cascade, it was so unlike anything I'd seen before. God i wish I could have that sort of experience again as a calcified 32 year old.

hl2 is all shit except ravagehole and citadel, which are only fun because there's some creepy shit going on there
>>
No but I probably thought it was shit and wished I was playing brood war or quake instead.

It was one of my first games along with Duke and Quake but I didn remember my first playthru too well except the tram ride and the cliffs segment.
>>
My asshole was clenched the entire time through Lambda Core and Xen. Fucking stressful levels.
>>
>>722563917
No.
>>
>>722563917
My first experience of Half Life was the Uplink demo.
>>
Yeah. Must have been late 2007 or early 2008. I had gamed on both PC and console since I was a kid, but mostly just played flash games, emulators, and MMOs on PC. Got the fucking Orange Box for 360 like a doofus (tbf I was a teenager).

Instantly realized "these games are fucking awesome but playing them on console sucks". My PC was decent enough for the time, made a Steam account, got Half-Life 1, Counterstrike and all the rest and never looked back. Been a PC gamer ever since and never bought another console (aside from a Switch). Orange Box fully converted me.
>>
>>722563917
yes, it was actually in 2017. I just never got around to it until then and surprisingly I was never spoiled. So when I entered the portal to Xen I truly had no idea what to expect.

I actually beat HL, blue & opposing force and both episodes on 1GB of ram
>>
No, it's not that memorable.
>>

>how to say "I'm an adhd-addled zoomer" without saying "I'm an adhd-addled zoomer"
>>
I played it for a bit then went back to sims or starcraft probably
>>
>>722563917
>>
>>722568467
I played it when it came out.
It just isn't as good as other shooters of that era, sorry.
>>
1998 , on pirated disk i was 12 years old and the retardet German Version with the braindead censorship, but the Immersion and gameplay was Peak.
>>
>>722563917
I worked at Hollywood Video. I preordered it, and since I was working 6-7 days a week to save up to move out, I had it delivered to work, where I was during UPS delivery hours.
I was quite wowed by the tram sequence because of
>how neat the scripting was
>never played a game where shit was normal before the action started
Overall, it was breddy gud.
>>
First time I saw it was at my cousins uncles place. He had like an entire pc gaming attic and I had no idea video games could look so good. I mostly only played build engine games till that point and a little unreal. It was like a paradigm shift.

Yes fondly even.
My little brother had a fat friend, litterally that kid from the meme. Who aways had games and shows cause his dad works at nintendo.
So eventually he started hyping up counterstrike and that his older brother was some kind of super competitive dual baretta top champ.
I asked how i should get it and wanted to know if it could run on my pc. Then he said that i should play half life instead.
I was like wtf what is half life. Some kind of hacker program? Not knowing what mods were.
At one day he stayed a night at our place. And i litteraly begged him to bring HL. But for some reason he kept coming with excuses so i quickly got something was off.
But eventually he did anyways. So he started comming over. We watched some movies, ate snacks, played some other games. Then i mentioned it was time to try HL. He hesitated but gave me the game anyways. At that point he went super silent. Even when i asked him how i should download mods and such.
So after playing a bit i got past the monorail part and cascade stuff and even killed the first few zombies and had fun.
Suddenly fat friend says. "I-i think im going home i gonna call my dad."
Me and my bro were like wtf. He told me to unstall the game now i tried it and just went without any hesitation to stay.
To this day me and my brother still dont know what was his deal was we just thought he was so scared of the zombies he became too afraid to sleep at our place.
Anyways i was so hyped i did buy the game for myself the next day.
