Honestly Terraria is not a very well-designed game. There is so much shit that actively points you in the wrong direction and the game itself is constantly breaking its own rules. For one, the keys: seems simple enough, gold keys unlock gold chests and shadow keys unlock shadow chests. What about the light and dark keys? Well there's no light or dark chests and interacting with the other chests doesn't seem to do anything so maybe they're a secret or something?>You leave them inside an empty chest and it spawns a mimicThe game is full of stuff like this. And when you get further to the end the game just kind of gives up and goes 'here's all the recipes to the weapons you need for the next boss, go get them'.
