Writing is somewhat juvenile and naive to say the least. It's still good though.The worst problem is how easy it is to break the game and ruin any semblance of challenge is might have had otherwise.Ryuji's instakill move, difficulty setting that can be changed at any time, tons of SP recovery items you'll find later on, chaining together cheap moves that target enemy weaknesses so you can do a hold up and kill them with an all out attack.There's also stuff that just ruins the flow of the game, skills like Almighty Boost and Amp, which you basically got to have if you want to play optimally.Same with Charge and Concentrate, you have to use them if you want the highest DPS and SP efficiency so you end up using those moves every other turn, which isn't really fun.Basically they really didn't think the balancing through properly, they should go back to the drawing board and scrap a bunch of stuff that makes the game less fun.

The villan training you to beat him makes no fucking sense, just let Akechi do everything then kill him like usual. Maruki's logic also completely falls apart once you think all of the losers he'd have to create to fulfill everyone's fantasies, he is almost the exact same as the OG villain in execution.
