what the fuck happened to arcade racing games outside of obscure indie titles
>>
>>722576338
Here is your Burnout successor: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fud2lMr7blI
>>
>>722576606
Screamer is also coming out soon
>>
>>722576338
I didn't like burnout paradise
>>
>>722576682
Shh...we don't talk about that. /v/ is going to find something to shit on about that.
>>
>>722576682
Wreckreation too
>>
>>722576338
Arcades literally died anon.
>>
>>722576821
me neither, it just felt really sterile and boring somehow, the crash mode felt dead
>>
>>722576821
Me neither
>>
I loved Burnout Paradise but you faggots take anyone praising a game you wrote off as enjoyable as needing to fucking kill themselves.
>>
>>722576821
I hated it.
>>
>>722577579
it was an alright game but quite the departure from the earlier games
>>
>>722578949
I accept that but I also felt like Burnout Revenge was indicative of a formula that was starting to hit the limits of its design.
>>
2 was always better than 3.
Better music, less rubber banding, nicer tracks.
Road Rage is still the best game mode tho.
>>
I think Burnout Revenge had the best Crash Mode but I'm also someone who doesn't consider Crash Mode the draw of Burnout's gameplay.
>>
>>722576338
Most arcade games are just sim racing game with proper forced assist anyway
>>
>>722576606
This just look like a shit version of burnout 3
Why would i want to pay 70 dollars to play this instead emulating the old good games for free?
>>
>>722580565
It's a download-only game. I think it was only like $20.
>>
>>722579209
they could just have made more of it, revenge was peak
>>
>>722576338
cars are becoming increasingly uncool with newer generation so obviously there's going to be less demand for any kinds of racing games in general
>>
>>722581470
Its not uncool, just modern cars are shit, old cars are still kino. The costs are just too much to keep one around usually unless you are a 9-5er unlike prior.
>>722576338
Arcade Racing was always seen as the uncool kid vs the Racing Sim crew who thought it wasn't realistic enough, they were basically the Immersion Sim faggots of the sports game world.
>>
>>722580912
I actually would argue Dominator was better than Revenge in some ways, although I'd probably give it to Revenge overall.
>>
if you want to fuck around with some cars there's gta online for that
>>
>>722576338
i dont like the traffic checking mechanic
>>
>>722582682
I assume it was because shitters kept crashing

Arcade racing died when Sony shutdown Evolution
>>
All the major racing studios either died or became support studios due to corpo retardation. I think bugbear is the only old studio still around, and codemasters, if you consider working on the F1 mines to be alive
>>
>>722582603
nah the police and rules just makes it so you can't have fun

the year is 2025
i have yet to find a Daytona USA arcade anywhere near me
i wish my local theatre didn't get rid of their cab.
dark days indeed.
>>
>>722576338
it's just right there idiot go play it.
>>
>>
>>722576338
those games were so fucking good
i want to go back
>>
>>722576821
I was surprised to see the praise it got in recent years because I was under the impression the general consensus shared the feeling that it was lukewarm at best.

burnout 3 was one of the reasons I bought a ps2 despite having a gamecube for years
I was pissed that gamecube only got burnout 1 and 2 too
>>
>>722583774
Zoomer nostalgia people praise me3 nowadays it honestly wasn't THAT bad minus the ending ME2 was fetch quests
>>
>>722583040
it skews the risk/reward. driving into oncoming traffic was supposed to be high risk but reward you with lots of boost, but now you can just do that in the normal lane
>>
>>
Burnout is the racing game for people who doesn't like racing.
>>
>>722576338
I always prefered the Flatout games
When is Wreckfest 2 coming out?
>>
>>722583982
those are kart racers.
>>
>>722583982
It's for people who don't like "realistic" racing which is boring as fuck.
>>
>>722576821
It killed the series.
I've been playing Legends and it feels like 2 and 3, but portable. It has been pretty fun.
I don't want to get monkey paw'd asking for a pc port of 3.
>>
>>722583556
i don't want a kart racer

>>
>>722584228
I wonder how people can say this, lmao. I also wonder why people who like sim racing are mostly just fans of racing games and arcade racers, always wanking over the same one or two games
>>
>>722576338
wreckfest 2 is in alpha but you fags probably think its too simcadey
hot wheels unleashed is a decent arcade racer
real answer: the target audience grew up and people moved onto racing games with more realistic physics, got into sims or got into real life autosports
i recently replayed burnout revenge cuz i got a 360 and it's easy as fuck, there's no challenge
nostalgiafags are not an audience who buy games or MTX
however if burnout rose from the dead and dropped a new one, it would at least break even
>>

tried to play it, game was broken, didn't ask me to sign in yet required signing in to play. refunded it.
>>
>>722584585
>I also wonder why people who like sim racing are mostly just fans of racing games
Gran turismo fags and the people playing F1 games are not playing crash team racing or BallisticNG. Forzafags maybe, because you can essentially remove every sim element
>arcade racers, always wanking over the same one or two games

hot wheels unleashed was fun but I felt like it was missing something
I don't know if takedowns or items would have been a good addition but sometimes the races felt a bit sterile

I think something like blur was pretty solid and the items didn't seem too overbearing but I never got to play it online
>>
>>722585383
i think what unleashed is missing is tighter tracks. more emphasis on actually having to brake and corner then just straight boosting. and i feel like it could be faster too
i love the verticality and the physics though
>>
>>722584585
Are you telling me racing fags don't just wank over grand turismo and forza
>>
>>722585118
Isnt this that one which had black disabled faggots in it, pride flags and BLM flags etc all over the cars.

But was then banning accounts for having red cars with flames on them or something like that because 'racism'
>>
>>722584315
People have melties about the absence of Crash Mode.
>>
>retards think GT is sim racing because of the slogan
Kek, no wonder even the dev and publisher don't take you guys seriously
>>
>>722576338
They're still around. Aside from the ones mentioned so far, iRacing Arcade looks like a good time
>>
>>722586603
still way too realistic for my liking, their entire platform is dogshit slow and clunky, and you can't just unlock all cars to play around with
>>
>>722586603
Anything more realistic than need for speed is sim racing
>>
>>722587409
The older games had a career disc/mode to play around with most of the cars and tracks. they balance around online since ps3 games
>>
>>722587638
are the non-brake to drift NFS games sims?
>>
>>722587795
It was a joke.... I meant the nos part
>>
>>722588017
I was half joking too, the categories are pretty arbitrary
I recently played through Carbon without NOS or team powers for a challenge recently, pretty good time
>>
>>722576338
tokyo xtreme racing just came out
>>
>>722576606
cornering looks bad, like you've got way too much down force. and the crash physics are just horrible. how can they be worse than a game from 20 years ago? back then it must have been tough to even get shit running at 60 fps. now these should be solved problems with no performance bottleneck, yet you've got cars rolling around in the strangest way. and then the track is entirely surrounded by invisible walls! maddening to see.

also the fucking camera is still so low your car blocks your vision of the fucking road. yes. I know. it makes things feel faster. so what, I don't want to have a blind spot in the center of my fucking vision, fix it.
>>
>>722588809
it looks interesting except for the shitty camera
