This toy is on sale but it's the LCD version. Does it suck compared to OLED?
>>722577978It sucks period, dog
>>722577978the lcd has a worse screen and worse battery life. it gets the job done if you wanna treat it like an emulation handheld where you're not using a lot of power but if you want more battery life, the oled is a lot better.
was about to buy this, then anons talked me into buying the oled instead -_-
>>722577978No, it doesn’t suck.I’ve had that exact model for a couple years and it’s been fantastic
>>722577978Buy a Switch 2 instead
>>722577978Even a chinkheld at that price has an oled.
>>722578347Nah.
Smaller screen, smaller battery and worse cooling but, I've been using it as a 5/6th gen machine and it's fantastic, I get around 3-4hours of playtime from 85% - > 20%. More modern games suck it dry in an hour, persona 3 reload and death stranding for example.
>>722577978They could sell it for $0 I still wouldn't buy it. Whats the point of a portable you can't carry in your pocket? If I'm gonna bring a bag may as well bring a laptop or controller.
>>722578624So I can easily sit anywhere in the house and play it without being tied to a TV or desk.Makes gaming a lot easier to pick up and put down between taking care of family
>>722579903If you can't afford to sit down and play on your PC then you probably shouldn't be playing to begin with.
>>722577978In of itself it's a tremendous value. I upgraded to the OLED from the LCD but it still carries its own weight at that price especially.
>>722577978the LCD on the base steam deck is a better screen than you're probably using right now, unless you buy super fancy OLED monitors to game on
>>722578474>Shitty screen>shitty resolution>shitty controlsYeah im not straining my eyes on non 4k images on a blurry shit screen while i fumble with garbage ergonomics.
>>722577978Kinda. The LCD has a hardware flaw on par with the ROG's SD card slot imo in that the L/R buttons are attached vertically to the daughter boards and hang at a 90 degree angle from them, with it's only support being a piece of plastic holding them up in place. The issue here, is that not every deck is made equal, so alot of the time the plastic support has an extremely small amount of give, which is just enough to allow the switches solder to flex back and forth on each button press until eventually it snaps. The OLED fixed this by placing the switch inside the board and leaving a cut out made specifically to handle the flex stress that occurs when pressing it. TLDR The LCD's shoulder buttons are a time bomb.
>>722581624Another reason to move of my steam deck as soon as a well priced new handheld comes out with good software support, thanks.
>>722584457What did he mean by this?
