Swarms of Stalfos rising the the sands, across Hyrule monsters grow restless and so Link trains his crossbow skills and fights off the swarms.At level 8 we fight the resurrected Darknut infused with dark insects reminescent of the ones that flew out of Death Sword upon being vainquished.At level 9 we confront the source of all the rampant evil, Stallord. Either the same resurrected creature of Zant whose remains were within Arbiter's grounds thought to be destroyed or another of its kind since he clearly seems to have a different number of horns from the boss of the same name in Twilight Princess.It could be that the dark insects that flew out of Death Sword had some kind of role to play in all of this, resurrecting a more powerful Stallord and swarming the land with monsters.It was never explained what Death Sword and Stallord were, they are imprisoned and buried within Arbiter's Grounds but at the same time are seemingly unrelated to the Interpolers or Ganondorf. They could be what the constantly mentioned "Ancient Hero" fought, the evil told of with the description of the Hero's Bow.Perhaps the cancelled sequel to Twilight Princess would have explored this unexplained part of the past and have Link deal against evil beings unrelated to Ganon.
