>called the Elite Four>you have to fight FIVE trainerswhat were they thinking?
>>722584716Originally it was a twist, the champ came in last moment and stole the top place
>>722584716It sucks they never let you come back to the elite 4 as a defending champ and play as the 5th challenger
>>722585052Gen 7 lets you do that with title defense.
>>722584926oohhh so they've just stuck with it ever since
>>722584716four you
The Elite Four are basically a group of additional Gym Leaders holding a semi-permanent position within the League. The Champion (i.e. the fifth trainer) is not technically part of them.
>>722585520how does the champ hold his position if a child can beat him/her
>>722584926This is one, but also because in most stories featuring the shittenou/4 boss guys there is almost always somebody else commanding them, it's a Japanese thing.
>>722585052Sun and Moon actually had a title defense feature, but you had to face the Elite 4 again before facing the challenger (who was randomly taken from a selection of characters, although they were basically all taken from the main story)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YbBG5YCGn90.
>>722585520This, the champ is just a vacant spot that is to be filled by whoever wins against all 4 and wants to stick around. The player doesn't stick around because they have shit to doIn Red/Blue it's vacant until Gary beats it, in BW N becomes the champ after removing Alder from play and in Sun/Moon the spot is also vacant and the final battle is for who gets the spot since you and the professor end up there at the same time
>>722585626ah yes, the good old demon lord and his four generals, I'm surprised that I did not see the resemblance at once
>>722585352you can apply this to everything about every single pokemon game ever
>>722585745Sun/Moon did it right because you got to defend the title from different challengers after each E4 runbackprobably the only time it was ever interesting, only time I even bothered to fight the E4 again.
>>722585745N isn't the champion he just brings his flying bowser castle to sit on the league building and postpones your champ fight
>>722586048He beats Adler and the elite four after getting all the gym badges to fight him fairly, he's the champion. He just doesn't officially deem you champ after you win because the stakes are so much higher
>>722585610Because everyone else except (You) is fucking incompetent.
>>722585610I don't think he's an average child considering he can beat god.
>>722586203it's not he that beats the gods, it's his over leveled pokemons
>>722584716>every champion has a secret room that only they and whatever child beats them are allowed to enter alone together into>also professor oak is allowed for some reason
>>722585626I thought it was a reference to yakuza or some shit since Pokémon is like cockfighting, which is illegal
animestyle league stadium battles with the best trainers competing would be coolgens 1, 2 and alola are the only true gens
>>722585745In SM you do become Champ after the E4, but Kukui wants to be your final test for funsies.
>>722586390The autist lore behind that is that Oak actually already beat the elite four, he was actually going to be a super boss with stronger mons than Gary, its still in the code for red/blue/yellowhttps://youtu.be/bR6jiah-PRg
>>722586764>cut contentglad I didn't buy it
>>722586764>secret final boss>still 5/6 mons
>>722588003still more than the single encounter with mewtwo
>>722586764At the very start of the game on his computer there's an email asking him to come to the Pokemon League
