>actually, the story is great because the twist is nothing interesting is happening

What a fucking stupid let down.
Was an OK game for a walking sim too.
>>
>>722588571
I played this game on YouTube and really does insist upon itself
>>
wasn't there a dead kid or something
>>
The missing kid never seemed like a grand mystery and the main story is satisfying enough. The "answer" the the "mystery" of who is following you is also logical yet surprising.
>>
>>722588571
I was expecting all the conspiracy stuff to be red herrings but I was also expecting a dumber twist of him being the one with alzheimers instead of his wife
>>
>>722588571
the scene where you encounter the girl campers and they're just poorly drawn 2d cutouts in the distance made it incredibly obvious that you'd never encounter another character in the game
so none of the twists were at all surprising, there's never a moment when you think she might actually be there waiting for you at the end

>one story path that is unrewarding is that you're pining for the female fire lookout you've spent the whole game with and she rejects you because she knows you're only doing it to get away from your handicapped wife
>more rewarding ending is leaving things off as friends and going back to spend what little time your wife has left with her
It was honestly pretty funny once I realized this.

Only half an hour left for you to buy one of the best walking sim mystery games: INFRA.
>>
the ending would be fine if the conspiracy wasnt the overwhelming majority of the last two thirds of the game. its built up so much it cant help but be a letdown. if it were just kind of simmering away in the background id accept it, but the ending being
>the entire plot of our game amounts to nothing dont you feel silly now!
is stupid
>>
>>722588571
This but unironically.
>>
>>722590162
if they wanted to do the conspiracy idea then they should've made it more obvious that the only reason the two of them believed it was them just hyping each other up on it. it should've been henry's real threat of someone being on his side of the woods be made worse by delilah bringing up conspiracies.
>>
>>722590375
yeah. the more you think about the plot, and the characters interactions with it, the less it all makes sense. the game is really just carried by its vibes (which are very kino).
i think the most egregious bit is the constant references to a random child whose fate delilah doesnt know, which, if you think critically about it, makes perfect sense because he and his dad left the firewatch so shed have no reason to know (and the game takes place pre-internet). but its mentioned constantly throughout the game, even though the characters have no reason to care, purely so that you understand where the nothingburger ending comes from. its so clunky
>>
>>722590825
I think it falls apart the moment it stops being about two people who have issues, and starts going right into the kid stuff like you said. All of the kid stuff should've been revealed afterwards and not before.
>>
>>722588571
I watched a yt playthrough end to end but forgot the plot entirely. What was the game even about again? What was the ending
>>
>>722591264
It's nothing bro. Don't worry about it.
>>
>>722590127
I have it on my wishlist and it goes on big sales every other month (I haven't gotten it yet only because I have too much shit to play already)
>>
>>722591264
>man moves to buttfuck nowhere firewatch tower because he doesnt want to deal with his wifes dementia
>meets another lookout called delilah
>they talk on walkie talkies
>regular fire lookout stuff ensues
>clear chemistry between the pair, though they never meet irl
>delilah mentions previous occupant of your tower who had a young kid
>spooky things start happening
>walkie talkie glitches
>you find transcripts of your conversations
>eventually find big fenced off facility
>decide to get to bottom of conspiracy
>break into facility
>find a ton of fancy mysterious equipment but no answers
>someone starts fire in the facility
>fire spreads
>go back to your tower
>find a confession tape saying there was no conspiracy it was the dad from earlier who staged a conspiracy to somehow distract you from the fact his son died in a climbing accident
>you get evacuated because of the fire
>think youre going to be on the helicopter out with delilah
>she takes an earlier helicopter and tells you to go back to your wife
>the end

It felt like a redditor tried to write a ""deep"" story
>>
>>722591613
Right, thanks. What a dogshit game
>>
>>722588571
it's an indishit game, what did you expect?
these games are made by millennials with no confidence in their writing.
>>
>>722589861
go out and climb real mountains, like a real white man then.
>>
>>722591613
holy shit that's trash.
you can tell some redditor wrote this garbage, not wanting to take any chances of making the MC look like a bad guy for abandoning his wife.
not wanting to make any big plot points in case people don't find it interesting.

I can tell reading this greentext is your only exposure to this game
>>

the other ending is exactly the same but the dialogue changes to where you just go "okay bye we'll keep in touch" then you go back to your wife and thats it
