I thought it was fine, the Majima Everywhere system was much more enjoyable to me than people led me to believe.

It also destroy the scenario for the new player, when Majima appear in the story, it doesn't do anything special since you already beat him 20 times in the last 3 hours

It's ridiculous how a 16-18 hour game was stretched to 50+. Original Komaki training was much faster. People will bitch about Majima but there was also that part where you had to grind arena matches to buy Komaki's drawings. And arena in this game was not enjoyable, between bullshit bosses, dealing chip damage and boss HP regen.
