It absolutely nails this unique, I dunno, utilitarian atmosphere. Big Shell has this effortless industrial charm to it, the kind you can’t quite put into words. They probably didn't even think about it, but there's a particular allure in that industrial aesthetic: the exposed beams, steel frameworks, weathered surfaces and the vast expanses between them. The muted grey-blue and rusty-orange tones give everything a sense of melancholy. The whole place feels very grand and quiet as you're running up there, above the world, surrounded by the wind, open skies, and the hum of machinery. The great soundscape amplifies the feeling of solitude, too.So basically I really like it, it's been 75 years and nothing else has quite captured this vibe again for me.
you are so fucking autistic posting this shit thread over and over

I find this game very unnerving. Like kinda a weird nightmare. Things just dont feel right..
>>722603737This game was like the perfect blend of 2D game design with 3D environments. Everything is clear, movements are precise, and nothing ever takes up too much of your FOV. This was one of the things I feel later MGS games really sucked at replicating. MGS3 had the worst overhead camera, and when they abandoned it for the Subsistence OTS cam there were a lot of things that were missed in the translation like certain camera angles that intentionally concealed enemies, it made the game much easier than it was intended to be, but it was given a pass because the original MGS3 camera was so ridiculously frustrating and clunky. Level design like this will never exist again since overhead cameras have now long since been abandoned in favor of OTS.

i really like it too. one of the coolest parts about this game is how when you zoom into first person it adds a layer of atmospheric sound that's different depending on what area you're in. game is peak. you should read the dev diary if you're interested.https://docs.google.com/document/d/1yxOZqichi1BLXan35OMi7ebrO2Tn89nx/edit?pli=1&tab=t.0
>>722604938the style of overhead camera + first person that's in this game is so perfect, it's really one of a kind in how well it manages to use two different camera styles. i wish that newer games would take try to take on this style again because it is so much cooler than a 3rd person camera.
>>722603737Big Shell feels more like a real location than many other places in the series, which is ironic considering
