Is this the ultimate Harry Potter game? Is it good? Its on sale on steam. I want a good hp game.
>>
Yes if you enjoyed the books and films.

from what I've seen it's not a game about the Harry Potter story so much as it's a game where you get to rp in the Harry Potter world
which you can probably get a better experience of on some fuck off Gmod server

I heard it's hilariously glitchy though and I like me a broken ass game

It's pretty good. Great atmosphere, but the gameplay is a little repetitive.
>>
i don't get how hardy potter got such a big fan following, I never liked those books or the movies
the world is generic and harry is just an example of the pathetic mary sue who needs to be put down by the world before he gets told he's actually souper special and 'deserves' a buncha magical shit for being so gosh darned special and then the whole first book is just him being given stuff and being told he's special before any conflict happens which gets resolved by hairy being extra special

who likes that sorta crap?

Wasn't glitchy when I played it, like a year after release.

The writing in the books is atrocious. It got popular because so many schools put it on their reading lists and then there was a huge controversy because the Christian Karens thought it was about Satanism and everyone started buying the books.

>consuming something that sucks because someone you dislike doesn't like it
absolutely retarded

Being a contrarian does not make you interesting.

If you hate trans folx and you want to see them dead then sure, go ahead and play it.

What? It was the exact opposite in my experience. The Harry Potter books were explicitly banned in every english class where I was allowed to choose a book to read.
Probably to avoid controversy with the Karens you mentioned.

It was a good tech demo. Anything less than going through all school years and related events(along with classes and other harry potter shit) isn't acceptable.
>anon...that's too much
I DON'T CARE LOL

I loved the books as a kid. Easily the best young adult series. Which isn't a high bar to clear, but still.

You're not White, so I wouldn't expect you to understand.

lol

It's £10 and at that price it's worth taking a punt unless you're seriously broke. And if you like it keep it or refund it before the 2 hour limit. Not worth making a thread over. And yes it is a good game imo.

It's pretty bare bones. Order of the Phoenix has the same size castle (I think it's even bigger, actually) and more interactivity with the world. Hogwarts Legacy is only good if combat is the only thing you care about.

Its not worth $60 but if you can get it for cheap then go for it its decent.

Hogwarts Legacy is more so the ultimate Harry Potter theme park rather than the ultimate Harry Potter game. It contains only like 2/3rds of what draws people to this franchise, the 1/3rd that's missing is the simulation. It doesn't really do a good job of simulating the school and social life aspects of Harry Potter, but if you just like the idea of running around in Hogwarts and zapping people with a multitude of spells, it is the best game for that.

There used to be a handful of shitty Hogwarts games on BYOND that were run by angst teenagers. They had classes hosted by the mods/teachers and basically every spell from the books and official games.
I remember one of them would shut down once every few months because it was coded by a bunch of high schoolers who were dating each other's exes and there was always constant drama in the community.
>>
Maybe I'm being nitpicky but when I play a game in the Harry Potter universe, I want the focus to mostly be on Hogwarts. There just didn't seem to be a whole lot going in in the castle except collecting Revelio scrolls. You can literally phase right through most students, and only cast spells on a small handful of items.

I liked the puzzles in Hogwarts itself but I kinda wish it stayed in the school than doing the open world stuff.
>>
It looks nice but it's very shallow. It's like they initially intended it to be more immersive, but switched directions shortly after you finish your first couple of lessons. It completely dives off a cliff after you go to Hogsmeade.
The Sebastian questline is decent, the main story is forgettable, and the open world is your typical repetitive ubislop formula.
If they'd downsized the map considerably and made it a Bully clone with more emphasis on school simulation, it would've been great.

Alex Rider was better
