Odin Sphere Luftwaffle is the only truly great remake I have ever played. REmake was solid too and Shattered Memories if you count it. Both of those were worth playing even if you had already played the original.Leifthrasir was the only remake that was worth playing INSTEAD of the original.

It's only expensive if you're buying an old physical copy of the game. It's not expensive for the company to take the ROM/ISO file they absolutely have on a server in their basement and shove it onto an "official emulator". They could even steal some open source public emulator code to make that if they want to be even more lazy.
