You know, if it wasn't for all the glaring flaws, this would probably be considered the best Zelda game in the series by a country mile.

OOT and MM are by far the best Zelda games. They might as well be considered a different franchise as they are that much better than the other Zelda games.

Is there any game that has a similar premise to Majora's Mask? I played some Skyrim mod that kind of did (and it also got made into a game), i.e. your trying to maximise the value of a timeloop. I really liked it.

>>722615849Majora's Mask is the best Zelda because it recognizes that the core strength of Zelda isn't the individual dungeons (you can find much better dungeons in more elaborate games) or the lame story of "Defeat Ganon and rescue Zelda" but rather the small, almost inconsequential little side activities and rewards that fill the limited game space with some sort of life and purpose. Nobody thinks Zelda is good because they're amazed by the Forest Temple layout or because they're so inspired by some lame boss turning out to be a reincarnation of Ganondorf. Timeline autists excluded. It knows exactly what kind of ambience and mood it wants to create and lets you interact with that setting in a satisfying manner. It trusts that you know that the point of the game isn't to rush through a few dungeons and then fight the big bad in a castle at the end.

For obviously being the focus of the game the sea looks like shit and you're staring at it for good portions of the game. I don't even hate cel shading but the sea just looks like someone filled out an open space with the light blue bucket tool in ms paint. Even for Zelda standards the game is beyond piss easy. There's like 2 interesting locations in the whole game out of the dozens of islands.

Its my personal favorite and I'll fully admit its because I got an n64 late and it was my first 3d zelda, doesnt change it being amazing. Ill even admit that OoT is technically a better game but it wasnt more fun or thought provoking.
