A turn based RPG should not require precise button inputs from the player just to survive battles. This is an abjectively bad way to design a game and seeing the way everyone gushes over it is sickening.
>>722621091Fortunately, there are countless unoriginal RPGs out there for you that do just that.
>>722621091agreed but jrpgs aren't played for the combat. storyfag genre
>>722621091git gud scrub
>>722621091>abjectively
>>722621091>a movie game should not require actual gameplay because...how about you go back to /tv/ where you belong and KYS
Westoids don't know how to make proper JRPGs, leave it to the Japanese and stick to your domain.
>>722621221>we made paper mario with realistic graphics>TOTALLY ORIGINAL GUISE
>>722621091Dunno what game you're referencing but anything to shake up turn-based games is a good thing. RTWP is objectively better and only dev laziness keeps turn-based games prevalent.
>>722621091Just play the game on youtube for the story skipping the battles, like every grownup with a job that can't be bothered with tedious jrpg mechanics that weren't fun at 12, but at least back then we didn't know better.
>>722621091It does not require. The game gives you health and defense pictos, use them. You can literally facetank everything and play it like a normal turn based rpg
>>722621091>Video games should not require gaming
Can't you turn off the parry system, just make it auto win? I thought you could.
>>722621091
>>722621091You can play E33 like any other classic menu-based jrpg. >lower difficulty, >put more points into defense to make characters tanky, >dodge only (there is no point in parrying if you cannot parry the entire combo),>when you cannot kill boss, grind more levels.
>>722623068>Can't you turn off the parry systemThat would be an auto-win mode because with perfect parry, you never lose a single HP.But you can ignore parry system and simply outlevel enemies and put more points into defense to play it like old final fantasy.
>>722621091git gud gigafaggot
The mandatory dodge and parry system is gonna turn off a lot of casual gamer that's a fact. Its sleeper hit for sure at 4.4 million sold to date quite frankly it could've sold 10 million if it was just more accessible. But who gives a fuck none of us is getting pussy or paid for this game.
>>722621091Paper Mario TTYD and Bug Fables are great games
>>722623745>(there is no point in parrying if you cannot parry the entire combo),Nah you get AP for each individual parry. There's a starting pictos to let you get one AP for dodging but that's just one dodge no matter how many attacks you have to dodge
>>722621487So why are Final fantasy games so terrible since 2001 ?
>>722625483Yeah, you're right. My neighbor who is not a gamer picked it up because the people at work (she works for a game studio but isn't part of actually making the game) and dropped it because she didn't want to keep setting skills and pictosEven on the most braindead setting it was still too much for her.
>>722621091>you should cater towards casuals instead of making a good gameplease never work in the gaming industry
>>722621091It does what it does well, which is being a jrpg where you have to spend most of your time studying enemy attack patterns or you can't progress. The question is, why do you want that? I'd rather play Dark Souls or a JRPG, not a derivative hybrid of both.
>>722629146casuals like button prompts
>>722621523>3 million copycats vs 1 "copycat"It shits on PM's badge system with pictos build variety too
>>722621091JRPG combat isn't good compared to CRPGs. Doing the paper Mario route is perhaps an admirable attempt to make it less boring, but it's still shit anyway.
>>722621091Turn it to easy you fucking baby. Do that or get good you have no excuse.
Its an excelent game design, and destroys the worst part of turn based games, the grind.
>>722621091>getting filtered by paper mario combatlol
>>722635148I did hard bosses and started to get so overpowered by the end of the Gestral Village that I was basically overleveling just from the 20% bonus to XP you get for not getting hit. The weapon Maelle gets for beating Sciel is fucking disgusting and nobody else gets a unique weapon like that. Lune's weapon is one you get from fighting random Sakapatate like what the fuckI also like how they did the menus where you can just sail through them if you remember the button combinations to do what you want. >>722634380Definitely going for a harder core audience so they allow for more absolute nonsense. I've never laughed from doing shit in a turn based RPG before but I did in this one. Multiple times
>>722621091>A turn based RPG should not require precise button inputsit doesn't, you played a command rpg
I wish this game had more debuffsUnless they're all hiding the side content in Act 3 which I haven't done yet, debuffs were more like novelties than mechanics
>>722621091>average Atlus enthusiast
>watch gameplay >game looks exactly the same 1 hour or 8 hours inwhy does it look so bland and samey? what makes it special?
>>722627252Because Final Fantasy became the experimental IP where they send devs to do whatever they think will revitalize the franchise.
>>722621091>A turn based RPG should not require any innovation beyond that which was made in 1992. Any such mechanics as displayed in Super Mario RPG (1996) or Chrono Cross (1999) is verboten and should be shunned.
>>722621091>A turn based RPG should not requireThere are all-hit runs viewable online. You can just swap in tanky pictos. Are you crying because you lost the Clair-Obscur miniboss fight near the end of Act 2 and never figured out that you should raise your speed stat?
>>722639731>There are all-hit runs viewable online.Do you need to grind on the hardest difficulty?
>>722621091>abjectivelyYou mean "objectively," you fucking ESL.
git gud faggot
>>722640985The comma goes after the quotes.
