The overworld is redundant. You should have been forced to explore it rather than mindlessly run on horseback past all the encounters. But the modern Souls fan doesn't think this is a bad thing because all they care about are the hype moments and aura farming of boss fights, and have only cared about that since Dark Souls 3. No Nu-Souls fan will ever see anything wrong with this formula, and so they are blind to the flaws of modern Souls games - save for the "flaws" that are builds that enable gameplay that isn't pressing circle to dodge.

Normally I hate open world games, and I put off playing Elden Ring for a long time specifically because it was open world. Once I finally played it, I realized it was the exact thing the formula was missing. And because combat isnt fun and boss behavior's stick to their limited set of long combos and wonky delays, they inadvertently leave a lot of time to just spam them to death anti climatically, because they didnt seem to plan for that. its as though they expected everyone to follow their dance, and never filled in a range of backup moves for other play styles. And with a game that big with so many bosses, i certainly was looking forward to finishing the game and being done with it. its my least played Fromsoft game because of its poor pacing across the board.

No use for leftover items like golden seeds, cvalices and dragon hearts, once capped, should have a secondary function granting temporary buffs like health regen, poise atttack buffs, elemental resistances, new attacks etc. Too many common items hidden away in areas you're meant to explore, like in Sekiro, Miyazaki "poking fun" fuck you, that makes exploting less rewarding. NG+ taking your great runes. Legendary weapons not being that legendary. Nerfs for pvpnigger's sake. No weapon or armor recolor at Boc's. No marriable waifu other than Ranni. Endings have no effect or changes in NG+. Diminishing returns, we're a fucking demigod this timee around let us be OP without a dozen buffs if we max out levels. Atrocious drop rate. Too many weapons having a single copy per playthrough. No random events on overworld. Having to upgrade weapons one level at a time instead of giving us a toggle if you have the mats. Low warp chest fuckery. Not being able to pet Torrent. No enemy other than rats dropping rune arcs, mo bell bearing for them or lost ashes. In Dragon's Dogma, we have Blind which makes the enemy attack in random directions or spend less time attacking, which allows the player to follow up with attacks, support, buffs, or repositioning. Sleep takes them out, and it allows for those same setups. There is sleep in Elden Ring, but what can you do with it? Removing either does change the fight considerably. No more spells, freedom to climb, and no more poison. I enjoyed my first playthrough a lot, but I'd never play it again just because the replayability sounds awful. The though of going through random shit caves that mostly look the same sounds the opposite of fun.
