By known Xbox shill too.

Do you think Microsoft made the right choice? 10 milly units is a big amount to put down on an unknown device.

The only non-nintendo handheld that sold that much was the PSP.

I don't think the Steamdeck itself has reached 10milly units sold. Some estimates puts it around 4mill~ And that's been out for a while AND valve eats the costs a LOT

AMD holding gaming back once again.

The PS6 handheld failing is going to fun AMD's getting cocky, it's time to take them down a peg.
>>
>>722628243
AMD is quite content in fucking killing itself right now. They also kicked back working with Valve for the Steam Deck 2.
>>
amd just signed a massive deal with openai
they dont have time for paltry shit like handhelds
>>
>>722628084
If true, then yeah. They cant sell 30 million of their current consoles but they're going to sell 10 m handhelds?
>>
>>722628084
Is Kepler a Xbox shill or an amd shill? He also said that next gen Xbox isnt a pc but a console
>>
>>722628713
The fact that Valve is stuck using one of the cutdown Medusa Premium APUs is just insulting. It's either that or they go to Intel, Nvidia, or Qualcomm for a chip. Seriously, fuck AMD.
>>
>>722628084
Microsoft needs to disappear honestly, and not just from video games.

AMD

>waaah baby need custom milkies
Van Gogh isn't a custom chip built for Valve in the first place, it was a pre existing design that they purchased. Literally left overs from another dead Microsoft project called the Surface Book
>>
>>722629231
I guess Valve can make use of something like the Medusa Halo Mini and just disable what they don't need or something.
>>
At this point, I wonder if MS could even sell 10 million of whatever the Xbox is.
>>
>>722629062
I dont think AMD really cares for the handheld space.
>>
>>722629530
I honestly can't believe AMD idiotically believes or should I say believed, lol, Microsoft could sell 10 million+ next gen Xbox consoles for more than $1000. This should be a warning on what's Sony's planning with the PS6s.
>>
>>722629689
AMD cares about moving volume and margins no matter how it gets done. Handhelds are all still a drop in the bucket compared to laptops.
>>
>>722629689
It shows, I can see Valve shifting to ARM and possibly getting it from either Nvidia, Intel, or Qualcomm for the Steam Deck 3 in like 10 or 20 years.

Kepler's been riding the AMD hype train since day one, probably has a custom Radeon logo tattoo by now. Every "leak" he posts just happens to align with whatever narrative props up AMD’s image for that quarter. Dude can’t decide if he’s a journalist or marketing intern.
>>
>>722630668
He posts publicly available data found in driver commits, GCC commits, linux kernel patches, etc. The overwhelming majority of his tweets and AT forum posts is strictly technical data and naming schemes.
>>
>>722628084
Steamdeck sold 5 million units
Asus and Lenovo's handhelds sold 1-2 million

So yeah, no chance MS is gonna make it to 10 million.

>gamers wont switch to windows11 what do

it would have been a master stroke in getting young people to adopt their garbage windows 11 ecosystem but jeets are too stupid to comprehend more than 2 hours into the future. i bet the console was the brainchild of their last white decision maker and as soon as he retired, Bachad From Bahmajbedb probably decided he could win points with his boss by cancling it.
>>
>>722630862
But the switch is the highest selling console of all time!

>AMD Required 10 Million Units

AMD Required 10 million units for the price microsoft wanted as a wholesale deal

fixed that for you
>>
>>722631102
It was probably a minimum wafer commitment combined with upfront cash which is their standard from all semi-custom work. But Microsoft would have already known this.
Cancelling things last minute when they're already deep into development is caused by execs panicking.
>>
>>722628084
>can you sell them?

all that hardware being inevitably dumped like the zune would have helped

Are you retarded perchance?
>>
>>722631102
>AMD Required 10 million units for the price microsoft wanted as a wholesale deal
No, but nice making shit up. Due to limited wafer allotment AMD sets 10m as the minimum unit sale for a custom IC
>>
>>722631205
>But Microsoft would have already known this.
No they wouldn't. Allotments for tape out change like every 6 months as orders ebb and flow based on hardware cycles. If one half gets taped out because of multiple phone releases eating up allotment the minimum order would be much higher than a second half where less than half the capacity is being run up. What could have been 10 million minimum order could have been half that if the order was 18 months before when there was no GPU release and iPhone eating up 70% of the run cap
>>
>>722634968
Shut up gay retard
Microsoft has done semi-custom work with AMD before and contracts are not made up on the spot
>>
So hilarious how retarded and pointless the whole Xbox brand is. That said AMD may have made the scale so high simply to guarantee a serious commitment which is something Xbox seems to be quite adverse to. Other than the commitment to collapsing.
>>
>>722635457
I guess valve is collapsing as well because they arent securing custom chips either due to AMD's high asking requirements.
>>
>>722628084
>AMD required 10 bajillion units from microsoft
>but not for valve
Wow gee we better all post about this and pretend it's real for fucking weeks on end
>>
>>722636291
Valve isnt getting a custom chip for steam deck 2 either since they arent getting the volume AMD needs.
>>
>>722636291
steamdeck apu isn't custom doe
>>
>>722628084
Microsoft: we want to buy a custom chip and we'll let you have 10% margin
AMD: Then we want a guarantee of 10 million orders upfront
Microsoft: What the fuck bro do you think we're a console manufacturer or something?
>>
>>722628084
>amd hardware can move 10 million units
yeah not surprising. bought a 7900xtx on my PC, and now I've moved to game on Switch 2 instead. Once you go AMD, you kinda leave PC space, cause none of the old UE3 games run great on it
>>
>>722628084
It would have been easy if they gave it a good 5 years. Just make the fucking thing 25% smaller than a steam deck, and add a pokemon clone or minecraft for free. SD's resolution is verifiably shit compared to your average cell phone today, so not only will the games 'appear' to look sharper, this gen could add FSR with no noticeable difference (yes that's usually shit too for larger displays), and power saving has probably gotten better too; could probably do double the capacity. Add a specific gamepass sub and it'll sell like burgers.
