>feeling nostalgia for such a shitty rpgi almost feel bad for pokemon fags being trapped in a prison of nostalgia but the door is right there they can leave any time and play better games
>>722630189crystal was my last game
I played a Pokemon romhack recently and I felt like I was back in 2000. Just don't expect that same feeling from a game you've played dozens of times.
>>722630075no, nostalgia is cringe.
the help is playing deus ex again. this run i want to try failing as many objectives as possible.
>>722630254I need you to tell me the romhack man. Please. I want to feel what I felt when I first unpacked the green game boy advance on christmas and played red for the first time as a kid next to my brother at midnight.
>>722630324Gameboy color I meant before someone goes ACKTUALLY
>>722630324i recently played through polished crystal. it's legitimately like playing a 1st party game with how, uh... polished... it isi also played yellow legacy which was ok
>>722630408polished crystal has a woke dev that made half the npcs black and stole code from another romhack
>>722630189its not about the game
>>722630503why no citation man
>>722630189Old pokemon games are amazing amazing rpg games for kids in my opinion Anyone above the age of 18 should move on tho
>>722630504That's the bloody problem with nostalgiadrones innit
>>722630538there is no citation because he's being disingenuousthe dev is woke as fuck. this will have 0 effect on you unless you go to the official discord and antagonise them
>>722630538>>722630621Never mind, I was thinking of Crystal Clear.Crystal Clear has black NPCs thrown in (Trainer class being rappers lol), and the dev ShockSlayer stole code from other romhacks.
>>722630842Still no citation tho manI never believe shit unless someone has some sorta proof of it.
>>722630503That’s crystal clear and SHOCKSLAYER is a faggot, polished is good
I replay silver every now and again and I still get the same feeling. Its just fun to play still after 25 years.
>>722630075Felt like a real downgrade when we went from visible day/night cycles in gen 2 to daylight 24/7 in gen 3.
>>722630075Depression is just a made up mental illness anyway>oh no I'm sadpathetic
>>722630324Scorched Silver. You may not like it, but I did. There's a romhack for you out there, somewhere. The actual problem with "muh nostalgia" isn't that you can't go back in time, you're playing really old shit and expectations have changed. Which often times just means things need to be updated in the right ways. With regards to Scorched Silver, some of the gym battles I actually had to think because the romhack's makers were no longer constrained by the fact the game had to be made for five year olds. It's not "hard", but satisfying.
You know it's weird, I always liked red/blue more than gold/silver as a kid, in terms of atmospherics. gold/silver felt like a trip, like a vacation across some cities. red/blue felt like an adventure, I think everything was too relaxed in gold/silver.
>>722631105It is a downgrade, but the day/night cycle requires a battery in the cartridge to keep track of it and eventually that battery runs out. It's a fatal flaw.No excuse now, of course.
>>722630408Do romhacks work on original hardware?Random flashcart I dont know if it's good.
>>722630075Take me back.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4MNAktk9ei8
>>722630578No. Kids deserve better than rock paper scissors
>>722630075I'm currently replaying the Halo games and having about as good of a time now as I did when I was a kid/teen. I often find myself enjoying old things again. New stuff just isn't generally as good as the old stuff. There are still some good new games and such, but despite the qauntity of new things, there's still significantly less quality things being produced year for year than any time 10-25 years ago.
>>722630578I agree they're perfectly fine for young kids but by 12 I was realizing they were not worth the level of obsession I had for them. They are excellent for very young kid.
>>722630189>>722630075You don't get it. You had to be there.
>>722630503This image has never ever been attached to a good post. It's always in defense of some grim normalfag goyslop
>>722630189We must play better games
>>722630075I want to write a horror story about someone trying to recapture nostalgia and not only realizing that it is negatively affecting them but also dragging them down.
I cast off my physical collection more than a decade ago. Gave a little bag filled with all my childhood GBA and GBC games to a music producer friend at the time who was really into "nerd shit". He was a good guy and i have no sense of nostalgia whatsoever. My personal carts of Ruby, Silver etc dont really mean shit, i can play those games on almost any device i still play games on. However im no real autist as i wont say "i dont get why people care so much" because i do, i just dont feel that way about physical sentimentl artifacts. The only things i still own from my actul childhood are my pikachu gameboy color with gold slotted into it, my gamecube and a ps2 nd ps1 nestled away somewhere. No games at all. Just dont see the point. The games are still accessible and i remember them- the esoteric nature of deaperately grasping at physical artifacts of yourself as an adult doesnt hold any importance to me. But then again im fucked up in different ways so to each is own
>>722631495Considering how many good RPGs the Snes and PS1 had, nah, Pokémon is just shit.
>nostalgia
>>722630075I'm a zoomer so I got this
>>722630503There's a patch to make the NPCs japanese again
You can't "get help" for depression, it's an incurable illness that fundamentally affects how the brain is wired.
>>722630578if SMT wasnt so niche they might, but there aren't really any other "adult" monster catching games afaik. i only discount persona cuz like 3/4ths of that game is a social sim
>>722630075No thanks Mr shekelburg. I'm feeling great and will play crystal with my light attachment. Thank you.
40 hour pokemon story based fangame WHEN.Hard mode: the story has to be good, or at least not complete ass.
>>722630189>very good and popular thing back in the day was actually always badKYS
>>722632184still a great game, some could even argue better, HGSS had gen 4 rules
>>722630189>play better gamesBut the later pokemon games only got worse.
>>722630075I don’t have time to seek professional help, due to work. Fortunately, I haven’t been deeply nostalgic like I used to be, so I’m able to cope with the present.
>>722631895You sound pretty retarded, my dude.
>>722630075Nostalgia doesn't make me feel bad though. I enjoy replaying old games every now and then, and that's all there is to it.
>>722632114I can see the present around me and the future its going to result in, so i stare into the past even harder.
The real retro game niggas dont feel nostalgia, because they never stopped playing "old" games.
I am so tired of nostalgia.
>>722632781millions of flies can't be wrong>>722632953why on earth would you presume the post complaining about pokemon games is asserting someone play more pokemon games?
>>722630075What's the mental condition that compels people to justify everything being replaced on account of it never being good in the first place?
>>722633570judaism
>>722632184HGSS was a straight upgrade in every way to the originals and set the standard for Gamefreak with remakes which they refused to ever follow again.
>>722632841Nobody likes the Physical/Special split.
>>722633570you mean "acquiring standards"? do you still watch teletubbies?
>>722632052It was on the go in a world where the internet wasn't. And you could connect with friends which you couldn't on other devices.Pokemon hit at just the right time. Too early and the tech wasn't there and the culture didn't think Japan was cool. Too late and smartphones would have gobbled up its relevance.

Apologize.

zoomers seething because they have experienced nothing garbage in their shit life so they don't understand the concept of nostalgia
>>722639902>nothing but
>>722639902I think it's very sad that they should seethe, not being able to experience what we got to experience during that time. You strike me as the opposite of a good person for celebrating it.
>>722639684The cost of ingredients, equipment, maintainence, electricity, boxes, phone bill, and whatever else you can think of is far less than the difference between the value a worker creates and minimum wage. So while no, $78/hr would not be their take home, the basic truth that they are being utterly underpaid is undeniable.
>>722640018I do agree that they're underpaid. But the solution you're selling is a trapdoor straight to hell. My god. How many countries have to fall for it before you admit it.

>>722631107Wow it's like I'm back on 2013 /b/ reading dogshit bait. What fucking time machine did you stumble out of?
>being nostalgic about PokemonThis was the last and only time you, an autistic 35-year old manchild, felt like you belonged with society. Your sole hyperfixation matched with the ongoing fad for like 2 years, so knowing how to catch Mew or catching 'em all was cool instead of stupid, cringy, and "who the fuck cares." Then all the normies around you inevitably moved on from Pokemania and you turned into a social outcast for decades to come, sitting in the corner playing HeartGold by yourself on your phone while desperately trying to sell your PSA 9 Charizard cardboard for 50 grand.
>>722645302That's a very interesting notion I'd never considered before. Nostalgia being something that occurs when someone misses being connected to a greater whole. I think, however, for the most part it's just about being young and having less responsibilities.
>>722645302truthnuke
>>722630189The thing is we also had anime so while the games were mechanically shit it was still satisfying for examplebeating Lt.Schwarzenegger because it wasn't just a bunch of pixels but a buff dude who personaly gaped Ash's anus and now you get to gape his.
