Senran Kagura regular cast is way over 20+ girls all with different movesets, so making them simple is the easier way. I think it should've evolved into something else: Bigger, longer stages with maybe multiple objectives, way more enemies on screen, more deployable characters in every stage with the option of swaping them, etc.
