Nintendo is FURIOUS. Are they going to sue?
>>
can we not talk about nintendo suing anyone for 2 fucking seconds?
>>
>>722632426
That depends on Nintendo.
>>
I hate slop but I also love the idea of it raping Nintendo so it’s a net neutral sort of thing for me.
>>
>>722632631
You could also just ignore news about what Nintendo might when people keep trying to illegally profit off of their IPs.
>>
>>722632740
There is no reality in which Nintendo would be harmed by generative AI slop videos of Pikachu twerking or whatever zoomies are prompting. The second any of them try to monetize their IP, they'll come down on the retards faster than you can say "Gary Bowser."
>>
>>722632345
if companies didnt saw this coming with the surge of AI, then they deserve it

It's gonna be a wild ride when the AI bubble pops and the world economy loses trillions in value in one day

Gonna be a real test of how much they believe in 3 second videos of random shit with the risk Nintendoink hounding them for hundreds of thousands of dollars. It just shit all around and i dont care for either side
>>
>>722632345
They are probably waiting to see how the disney vs midjourney thing goes. If disney wins then Nintendo and others will follow suit and the lawsuits will start rolling out.
>>

why should I ignore nintendo being a piece of shit company?
>>

There is no reality in which Nintendo would be harmed by someone downloading a fan-translated ROM of a 30-year old game they never released in that region but try telling them that.

vs
>a computer program gets fed data points of a piece of copyrighted material
>those data points get categorized into descriptors
>the computer program can now make new pieces of material that have similarities but are still distinct enough
>people cry infringement
you can hate ai and still see why this is silly

unless a 1:1 copy of the work is produced and USED in some kind of meaningfully infringing way, people are just yelling the new thing bad

if i wanted to i could paint a 1:1 copy of Mario right now, and it not be an infringement if i dont DO anything infringing with it (dont impede the market, dont offer it in substitute of the original etc)
it's called the factors of fair use

It’s funny how all the common folk are worried about AI taking their jobs when companies like Nintendo are also terrified. Pretty soon someone will be able to put in a simple prompt and immediately make a sequel or whatever to their favorite game and there’s not shit these companies can do.
>>

Don't believe that article title. It's literally every media company being pissed at them. Their front page advertises using Rick and Morty, South Park, Pokemon, and various other big ip's however you want. Meaning it had nothing to do with emulation and you brought it up for no reason whatsoever.
>>
If I bought any hardware and it's physically in my house, I should be able to do absolutely anything I want with it.
Give me a single logical argument why that shouldn't legally be the case.
>>
>>722649853
If you're not allowed to make backups of even your own legally purchased games, then that means you cannot emulate them. Nintendo has therefore helped to make emulation de facto illegal.

Cause and effect.

>who represented himself throughout the case
This dude is DUMB.
>>
>>722649995
There's only one problem with your logic.
That has nothing to do with Nintendo. Making backups of software was always illegal in America
>>
>>722650190
And did Nintendo ever fight against this precedent? Or were they happy to support it? Thanks to Nintendo, the laws are even worse in Japan.

The fact you really believe this is fucking hilarious.

Pic related, the guy even got a C&D but he just ignored it deliberatly and kept selling Switch ROMS before he got slapped.

Anon, how much longer is it going to take before you realize AI is a load of hot air?
Have you seen what the AIjeets have been obsessing over lately? Fucking figurine gens.

This is actually something i WANT Nintendo to sue. I hope they sue all AI companies into the ground.
>>
>>722636664
It likely wouldn't have become a problem if terminally online retards didn't keep bragging about it, trying to make money off piracy and poking the hornet's nest

Artist genes have been a net negative to humanity. Without them AI wouldn't exist in the first place.

So because Nintendo effectively did nothing they did everything.
Huh, you anti-Nintendo people really do treat them like gods.

They raped the legal system with lobbying and corruption.

IP/copyright bullshit is an absolute cancer and a huge anchor on all industries.
No, it doesn't help the "little guy" in the slightest, because everything the "little guy" creates will inevitably "infringe" on at least one bullshit vague patent the hoarding trolls are sitting on.
Everyone who supports this is a useful idiot.

Kickstarter will soon be flooded by "games" that literally do not exist and the people will be running off with the backer money.
This shit is going to destroy digital media and society at large and I think at the end of it, we might actually just have to abandon the internet altogether.

>Kickstarter will soon be flooded by "games" that literally do not exist and the people will be running off with the backer money.

Hardly. People have already became savvy and skeptical after fake trailers like FFXIII from 2006, KH3 2013 or Aliens: Colonial Marines. Nobody with a functioning brain trusts any pre-release footage anymore.

>This shit is going to destroy digital media and society at large and I think at the end of it, we might actually just have to abandon the internet altogether.

No. What's going to happen is people will mark their calendars for release dates and then wait few weeks after it to watch raw footage from first adopters and their select few streamers.

AI footage will become shitpost/meme fodder at best.
