People who say each run isn't 100% dependent on RNG are idiots.

Discuss.

I wouldn't call a mission in XCOM 100% RNG either. XCOM is a little different but both games are all about working with what the game gives you. XCOM is more risk management but hopefully you kinda see what I'm saying. With Slay the Spire it's about knowing how to fit your deck together with the cards that are offered to ya. Which cards show up is RNG but the decisions you make and the decks you build aren't.

I don't get how people can get 80%+ win rate either, but it's real. The proof is as they say in the pudding.

Okay, bozo, exactly how am I supposed to "work" with my deck when I get 0 defense cards and a fucking boss does more than 2/3 of my health with one attack?

>say each run isn't 100% dependent on RNG
It's not, the goal is to build a good deck where you're drawing good hands each turn.
You just lack discipline.
I don't always play hyper focused. Sometimes I just want to draft my favorite cards depending on what ACT I'm at and my synergies but if you really want to win you generally want a lean, focused deck unless there's a very specific reason otherwise

You don't need to draft defense for act 1 bosses. Little bit of scaling damage and lots of front loaded
>>

I don't know. There is a lot of game that happens before that point. I'd have to see your board, the path you took, events you got, and shops you hit. Take a look at the deck you had. By that point you may have bad decision'd yourself into a corner. The very end of a run doesn't have a lot of information. It's just the end. The entire game takes place before the end.

Post any seed and show us your playthrough.

That's basically every new wave indie "roguelike" trash.
You can blame FTL for creating this horrible abomination of a subgenre.

No.

It's an Act 2 boss though.
I get hit with 50+ damage and I pull 0 defense cards.
How is that fair in any shape or form?
>>
>>722634784
cringe and intellectually dishonest

I could beat any boss in issac with zero items; I can't say the same for a lot of others rougeli(t)kes.
Managing bad RNG being the main appeal isn't fun.

I'm legit not trying to be nasty, but you probably failed earlier in the run and just didn't know it until just then. Learning the game is important and you're going to lose runs. All part of the process. After the loss is when you take a bit for your post game dissection. Reflect on the game, what worked and what didn't and what might have been wrong. Im not saying you need to make a spreadsheet and a flowchart for every decision you made. Just.. think on it a little. Just a couple knee-jerk tips relating to the small amount of info you gave me. If you didn't have ANY defense cards then, we'll, there's your problem. If you had some, then maybe your ratio of defense wasn't quite right. Also THIN YOUR DECK. Thinning your deck is just as important as getting strong cards. Think on the choices you made for events, did you get risky? Did you take cards when you needed some money more? Just.. general stuff like that. Failing is just part of learning the game, there is no shame in that. A bad hand can be a kick in the nuts but it should almost never be a run ender. If "bad hands" keep getting you killed, then thin your deck or mix up your cards, you might be missing a strong combo or think a card is better than it is.
