What the fuck was her problem? she could've gone for the guy anytime since hinako isnt even interested in him, instead she seethes about it.

Shu doesn't reciprocate Rinko's feelings and Rinko blames it on Hinako
>>
Because it's clear that there is a spark, no matter how small, between Hinako and Shu. Hinako's dad even says at one point that he would have been happy for her to be with Shu.
When you're in RInko's "room" you see its very feminine and Hinako is the complete opposite. Rinko is jealous that Shu likes Hinako even though she's the complete opposite of a "nadeshiko."
Oh and Hinako IS a little interested in him, I think it was Ending 3 where that is explored a little more (the one where the town is evacuated after Hinako resists the wedding)

Yes. Unlike Sakuko and Hinako who come from broke families she's comfortable. Her parents own the Chizuruya General Store.

There's a journal you can find where she literally admits that she is more obsessed with her jealousy of Hinako than of her love for Shu. She's the most woman to ever woman

The bond between men
No its about two Japanese spirits who decide to play a little game by having a human influenced by a fox marry a girl with a supernatural blood type. Hinako struggles with wanting to marry a boy who she genuinely loves but wanting to resist the marriage because it was arranged by her alcoholic abusive dad so he can get out of debt. The reveal is that he got scammed out of all of his money by his best friend, his wife developed brain cancer and he went into even further debt to cure her and that he's an amazing husband even if he wasn't the best father because of Japanese norrms.
Also it has nothing to do with Silent Hill except these two being the same purifying compound (left is from SH1 and 3, the image is the form in 3)

Who knows. The only things that are actually "real" in the game are
>final True End cutscene
>Rinko being married off
>Sakuko loving rabbits
>Hinako saving Kotoyuki and the Fox
>The Mom/Dad backstory
Nothing that took place "in-game" was real besides these (and maybe some other small shit I forgot) so it's 50/50 on whether she's a real bitch or Hinako is just too drugged up. Its probably the latter for the first ending, the former for the others since you don't take the capsules at all.
>>
>>722637996
Did you forget the part where the bitch tried to kill her by pushing her down the stairs?

I only played the Remake of SH2, I enjoyed it from beginning to end. This game though, has me bored to tears. Same thing happened with the FF7 Remake, first game was good and the 2nd Remake bored me to tears.
>>
>>722638134
She was Hinako's friend but a friend willing to call her out for being a wishy washy cunt for years instead of making an actual decision. She wasn't even really obsessed with Shu what she really wanted was Hinako to make a choice and thought if she liked Shu then Hinako would finally give up or go for it.
>>
>>722637198
>i still have no idea what this game is about?
Set in the 1960s, schoolgirl Hinako and her friends Sakuko, Rinko, and Shu are sucked into the Otherworld when a monster creating the fog arrives in their hometown of Ebisugaoka. Hinako's home life isn't good, her father beats and abuses her mother, who simply sits and takes the abuse. Additionally, Hinako is due to be wed in an arranged marriage, and this not only causes endless gossip at school, Hinako is terrified that she will wind up like her mother, an abuse victim trapped in a loveless marriage with no free will of her own.

>is this some lame (souless) visual novel?
No, it's a third person exploration/puzzle game, with some combat. Like the other Silent Hill games.

>also what it has to do with SH?
Same style of gameplay, just translated to 1960s Japan. The four human characters are stuck in the Fog World version of Ebisugaoka, and ocassionally Hinako is drawn into the Otherworld too. Instead of rusted, bloody metal this Otherworld takes the form of a perpetually dark Shinto shrine, inhabited by a man wearing a fox mask, Hinako's supposed husband-to-be. Hinako doesn't know the Fox Mask's true intentions, and whether to trust him or not.
>>
>>722638370
Just to clarify when I say other things didn't happen I mean that my view of the game was that when Hinako returns for the wedding, the influence of both Gods sort of "seal off" the town so that while she may have done the wedding massacre AND accepted the wedding AND the UFO end happened AND she rejected the wedding, by the time the God's influence cleared up at the end of the True Ending, the only real consequences or events that remained were the True End.

MC doesn't want to get married
she has a childhood friend she gets along really well with who clearly likes her but she spends their entire youth stringing him along
other girls are mad at her stringing him along because they like him but he wont look at anybody else
since she isn't doing anything to get married eventually her parents arrange a marriage for her with a rich kid to help with their financial issues
rich kid is actually really nice and likes the MC and the MC says she likes him too but she still doesn't want to get married
she doesnt want to get married because her dad became a drunk who gambles all their money away that they really need to pay for medical debts from the mother's illness so she sees all men as inherently abusive and all women who get married like her mother as slaves
the game is a drug and psychosis induced fever dream after the MC goes nuts at her arranged wedding at the age of 20 and slaughters everyone
she goes nuts because the childhood friend gave her the ambiguous red pills you use as healing items and they're partially made with the silent hill cult narcotics which is the only direct link this game has to anything else silent hill
the primary endings dont really provide any sort of resolution for the MC the way the mainline games do its sort of just
>actually I wanna go with childhood friend
>actually I wanna go with rich guy
>actually I just wanna not get married to anyone and find myself
but since she already murdered everyone it all sort of falls flat and feels mishandled

there's good ideas for symbolism like when she cuts her arm off to put on the fox arm, brands herself, and gets her face cut off to have a mask attached to her flesh instead to how she feels that marriage is tearing apart her own independent identity but when her overall motivation is so basic and silly and the meta framing for what you're playing through kind of leaves no paths for the character going forward it just doesn't really work

He was a betacuck for not admitting his feelings
>her dad became a drunk who gambles all their money away that they really need to pay for medical debts from the mother's illness
No, a friend betrayed them and stole all their money so Dad's business venture failed. He pays for the bills and shit but he's bitter and angry ever since, and once threw a knife at his kids.
>the game is a drug and psychosis induced fever dream after the MC goes nuts at her arranged wedding at the age of 20 and slaughters everyone
That's only one ending, and isn't set in stone. Each ending is a different possible path, though the story clearly favours the "don't get married/save the town" ending morally as the best, as every other ending has a downer moment. (Wedding ending involves Hinakos inner voice still unhappy without freedom, the Shu ending leads to the destruction of the town)

I don't disagree with your takes on the symbolism but I personally found all of the characters stories extremely compelling, especially how even at the end of the "true" ending where she rejects marriage she still plans on returning to fox man and considers marriage in the future

>Hinako: Such cute things don't suit me

No, Hinako isn't into feminine things herself, Shu doesn't gaslight her (about that at least).
>>
>>722645763
>also what it has to do with RE?
Nigga you could have chosen RE3 and RE4 as better examples, RE5 is one of the most "RE" games in terms of lore
>last Umbrella exec is hunted down
>Chris and Wesker finish their fight they started in RE1 and continued in CVX

If you want to take the most important RE games in terms of the Umbrella lore its
>RE1 - RE 2 - CVX - RE5
>>
>>722645861
>Hinako: Such cute things don't suit me
>Shu: I think it suited you pretty well though...
Where's this dialogue from? Because Shu the opposite at some point in the game,
>>
>>722644489
main thing with Hinako is she's canonically a tomboy, she doesnt outright reject societies standards since she does like feminine things and does plan on getting married but she's almost given no freedom to do her own things thanks to the current era of 1960s japan.
>>
>>722635643

No they just did her fucking dirty
>>
>>722646204
>but she's almost given no freedom to do her own things thanks to the current era of 1960s japan
Freedom isn't the issue. It's the mixed signaling. She rejects feminine thing because she was rejected first.
>You can't play house with the girls because you play with boys
And that leads a feedback loop. Like when Rinko says she's not strong like Hinako and therfore needs Shu's protection. Or when Hinako says there's no way cute cloths would suit her. If she tries to be feminine there's backlash.
>>
>>722635643
She was stuck in a society where she couldn't do that. You see it in the letter revisions she writes, where she dances around it, crumples it up, loses a small bit of the subtlety, crumples it up, and finally just says what she wants.

She's peak woman shit though. "How dare the object of my affection pay my friend any attention instead of just fucking me!"
>>
>>722646447
yes
They are useless people and should be put in the gas chambers
>>
So in context how is the events of the game happening? I interpreted as a disjointed collection of her memories during Hinako's psychotic break in her wedding. Which in hindsight makes her look really crazy and all Shu fault, because of everything we learned in the real ending she end up learning the truth about her mom and dad and she eventually accepted the marriage with Fox.

>>
>>722647472
She didn't, she's still finding herself in the true ending lmao.
>>
>>722647472
I look at it as nothing happens except the true end. She goes back to the village for the wedding (as a 20-something year old but appears as a high schooler) and before the game starts the town is "isolated" by the spirits. So every route happens (maybe at the same time, maybe in loops, maybe in "stacks") but the "fog" only clears at the end of the True Ending, so all the consequences of the accepting/rejecting the wedding, the UFO end and the wedding massacre, while they "happen" they only do so in the context of the spirits isolating the town. The only consequences that leak into the real world are the True Ending ones.

And no, in the True End she rejects the marriage but is open to it in the future
>>
>>722638614

Did you play the game or other silent hill games? This one is a little exploration/puzzle (you can easily count the number of puzzles on your fingers) with a lot of combat. Second half of the game is just rushing through forced fights with waves of enemies.

Okay I just went through them - it's eleven puzzles, my bad. One bonus puzzle available in ng+ that made me stand corrected.
Jokes aside, it's very different from other silent hill games. Barely collecting items for puzzles of actually having to put something together. So much stuff is just handed to you. Combat is clearly the focus in this game, don't let anyone fool you.
