What went wrong? Are games really that hard to make? They gathered experienced devs like Jade-chan and it still didn't pan out.
This article is over five years old.Bot thread.
no game developer wants to work for amazonimagine working on new world and Bozos walks in and says "why aren't we beating [other mmo]?" because all he saw was a pie graph on a slide show meeting. And you can't answer him straight because you don't even know, you haven't played that MMO or any others or even New World, all you know is serverside accounting so you were roped into this and it sounded fun at the time
>>722639813Fuck off Amerifat, it's still an interesting topic.
>>722639718Do you really think amazon would do better with tv or movies? Big american corpos just can't make good entertainment period.
Its funny how fucking rich Amazon is but all their attempts at games resulted in the most incompetent shit
>>722640346The problem is that these companies are too big. If you only have a movie company, they want every movie to do as well as possible so they'll put a lot of thought into picking a good script and selecting the right talent. The corporate giants though just see everything in terms of money or star power. So what if "Mufasa Rising: The Anti-Lion Returns" shits itself and loses 500 million at the box office? That's a drop in the bucket to them if the loss actually mattered. Financially they can rearrange the massive loss as an expense and therefore as a tax credit (break them all up now please break up any business that does this), so your movies can truly become total advertisement pieces or even propaganda, which often happens. The US Army greenlit a lot of the Avengers and Marvel universe movies if they protrayed the US Army in a positive light like with Captain America, Iron Man, etc.Amazon could be buying up garbage IPs and losing money left and right but I doubt the most incompetent management imaginable could risk outweighing the Amazon Web Service's golden god machine's income.
