Why is this series forgotten?
>>722641723Fps killed the 2.5d star
>>722641723Because it has not been good since 1999 when the original developer moved on from it.
>>722641723that thing has rabies
>>722641723I blame the redesign that changed too much of his identity right after he just came back into public consciousness
It isn't.It just had a shit game 5 years ago and there's not much to talk about since then.
That Crash design is so fucking bad, at least their Coco was a cutie I guess
if you took Crash and just asked a small dev to make a game every 2-3 years, not on the scale of Crash 4 but on the scale of Crash 1 or 2, would it make money?
>>722643681Are we talking about the GOOD Crash 4, or the shitty one?
>>722643710There's a good Crash 4?
>>722643774Yes, and if you correctly identify it you win a prize
>>722643710He mentioned scale of 4, wrath of cortex wasn't big it's obvious he's talking about it's about time>>722643774I enjoyed wrath of cortex besides the horrible loading times. Not as good as the ps1 games but it was good
>>722643834Is it Team Racing?
>>722643881Interesting answerGood gameIncorrect statement
>>722641723>Why is this series forgotten?>>722634249People don't like platforming anymore, it's sad because it's my favorite form of gameplay
He was close to coming back with NST and CTR:NF but they shot themselves in the foot by giving the series to the diaperfurs at Toys For Bob instead of leaving it with Vicarious Visions, who at the very least had prior experience with the GBA games before the series completely shit itself.
>>722643774kek
>>722641723it isn'tt. recently replayed the original three I forgot what kind of pain in the ass 105% Warped was to get
>>722641723They just decided to give up on the whole series. 4 wasn't even that bad if you ignore the 100%.
>>722641723You know why.
>>722641723>give IP to turbogay furry developers who already fucked up its sister-IP's revival>publisher is notoriously greedy and abandons anything the second number doesn't go up thanks to CoD expectations>bought out by consolemaker who only wants Gamepass numbers and is leaving consoles anywaysThe answer is Kotick's total hubris. He's chilling in the Bahamas now because of this btw.
>>722644501Not to mention they seemed to be getting used to Crash level design if Future Tense was any indication.Imagine, gameplay by Vicarious Visions (Just fucking change the hit box) and art direction by Beenox.
They wanted this as the new face of the series after Nitro-fueled. Their response to it failing was adding a transsexual bat.
>made Crash's design safe and cute>added a lesbo girlboss Tawna>turned one of the iconic villains into a good guy for no reason>Made a Multiverse plot because muh MCU>Made getting 100% a complete choreAnd the worst fucking thing they could've done>made Brio regress into his pathetic timid self
The only reason why you fuckers bitch about the last Crash game is because of the redesigned broad, you didn't even play the game.
>>722646163The 100% is ass and one thing Crash games shouldn't be is ass to complete 100%. Frustrating sometimes, but not Cold Hard Crash levels.
>>722646163I bitch about it because it's the only game I know about where too much content is a genuine complaint.
>>722641723tranny developer

>>722646203>>722646329This is nonsense, it was a fine platformer with actual challenge, fuck yourselves you casual pieces of shit.
>>722646450Hiding boxes off-screen is not a challenge.
>>722646425Are you really gonna reply this in a thread about a series that had a big tittied anthro bitch as its first female character
>>722646450Having to replay the same level up to 3 times to 100% it is not a challenge
>>722646484Kid, there was hidden stuff in video games all the time. Boo hoo.>>722646553What is a challenge then?
>>722646450>if you dislike the absolute tedium that were the nverted levels you're a casualThose were a mistake. >>722646950Having to listen to you and/or read your posts
>>722646950There is a reason why Cold Hard Crash is infamous.
>>722647027>>722647036See? This is just zoomer arguing points. These are actual butthurt replies. You people pride yourself in all the fromsoft games but all of the fucking sudden a game actually has tasks and you suddenly cry about it.
>>722647047There's many infamous things in many games, so what? What's your point?
>>722647073Motherfucked you're really expecting serious replies when you're unironically saying>YEEEEEEES>YES I HAVE TO REPLAY THE SAME LEVEL AGAIN>YEEEEES AGAIN AND AGAIN THIS TRULY IS A CHALLENGEHowever I guess there's some truth in that, not getting bored probably is a real challenge
>>722647073>oomerposterMy bad I thought I was talking to an adult.Enjoy your ragebaits or whatever you kids call it nowadays.
>>722647110The ideal thing would be to do the hidden objects that people liked (Most of 2's hidden warp zones which had a good hint on where to find them), not the one people hate.
>>722647132>>722647134See you're still not actually giving any lefit feedback because you never even touched the game you're bitching about. That's all you zoomers do while at the sametime flex how hard certain bosses are in Elden Ring or some other fromsoft thing.Like boo fucking hoo zoomers, you kids couldn't handle older platformers.
>>722647173Trying too hard, everyone can tell your real reason for posting like this
>>722647156If everything was easy, that's not a challenge though.Video games are for entertainment but they're also supposed to be challenging. But sitting here and whining something is too challenging? What are you even saying? That shit is optional ontop of it, you're just a fucking crybaby.
>>722647213My real reason? I've made it pretty clear you kids just yap a lot, you don't actually play video games that actually challenges you
>>722647215The hidden warp zones are challenging, because you have to figure out that they exist using the clues given to you. Cold Hard Crash having a box off-screen that you can't see with no hints at it existing making you go through the whole level to try and find it is bullshit, considering that the level itself is a good hard level outside of that one box what with the death route and the requirement to do it backwards to get the gem. That's a fun challenge.
>>722647304You act like this is some new crazy concept.
>>722647336I know old platformers had shit like this, but the hidden box in Cold Hard Crash stands out like a sore thumb in a game that does difficulty well. Crash 4 decides that making more levels like that is better than making genuinely difficult levels because outside of the requirement for 100% the game is piss.
>>722647424I'm not even talking about platformers, plenty of other games have pulled stuff like this. The ourage isn't real. You're just so used to treating video games like junk food.
>>722644256>People don't like platforming anymoreNo, people DO like platforming, they hate kaizou bullshit. Crash Bandicoot is a game that rewards caution and awareness only OCCASIONALLY forcing the player to not have that time(the chase levels) otherwise it's very forgiving and fair. What you're trying to praise is the exact opposite and it's that kind of instant death spam that helped kill TfB's fuck up.The lads at Traveller's Tales got it right. They understood what the design philosophy of Crash was. TfB didn't.
>>722647569>instant death spam that helped kill TfB's fuck up.???
>>722646163>you didn't even play the gameNot only did I play the game but I've also played every entry in this series and can pinpoint with perfect accuracy every single aspect they fucked up in terms of level design, music, character designs(silhouette's especially), mechanics, color use, concepts. EVERYTHING.YOU are the one who didn't even play the game if you can't see why they made so many colossal mistakes with just the level designs alone
>>722647569He's a retard baiting for replies but speak for yourself, the hidden stuff (gems and crates) was one of the few things I enjoyed about the game. It's not even remotely kaizo.
>>722647753I guess I have a higher tolerance for spice more than you.
>>722646450>with actual challengeKaizou bullshit is not "an actual challenge."On an unrelated note what are you thoughts on Wrath of Cortex, especially it's level design.
>>722647816What do you think challenge means?
>>722646950>there was hidden stuff in video games all the timeIn Crash Bandicoot it was always telegraphed and shown to you if you were paying attention.>Floating wumpa, use of camera, cratesThe BIGGEST fuck up of something being totally obscured is in ONE BONUS LEVEL in ONE GAME. The devs took that ONE FUCK UP and applied it multiple times to the entire game and called it difficulty. No, that's called incompetence. Same with their total lack of understanding of level design which was such an abomination even Titans had better level design. Titans DS.
>>722647920>In Crash Bandicoot it was always telegraphed and shown to you if you were paying attention. That's debatable because some people may never have seen those things casually.>The BIGGEST fuck up of something being totally obscured is in ONE BONUS LEVEL in ONE GAME. The devs took that ONE FUCK UP and applied it multiple times to the entire game and called it difficulty.Well if it was hard for you to find, wouldn't that make it difficult by literal definition?
>>722647993>That's debatable because some people may never have seen those things casually. There were deliberate hints though. The Nitro staircase without jumping Nitro, the boxes in the water lined up in a way to jump to a platform etc. That one box doesn't have any hints of where it is except for the fact you will go through this hard as balls stage to be met with 1 missing box.
I find more baffling the fact that you guys are still unironically replying to that guy like his posts are not just "haha you a bitch" on repeat
>>722648063That's a weird counter point because numerous games have areas that you would never guess things were there unless you actually tried it yourself. That was the beauty of older video games. That's how people found out about the power ups in the first DOOM map that is right behind you. Or the invisable blocks in Mario. The Excaluber 2 in FF9, The heaven and hell islands in FF8 that grant extremely powerful draw points, The knights of the round summon in FF7, hidden bosses in multiple games, the little nook in Skyrim that you have no way of knowing about that has a bunch of gear unless you were right over the spot, The Batman Arkham Aslyum hidden wall. I can keep going here.We also live in the age of the internet. It's not like you found out about that box yourself. So it's not like you actually tried and figure it out, someone else did and now everyone knows about them.
>>722648234>DoomDoom deliberately uses texture alignment and sound cues.
>>722648110I'm baffled you want to admit you can't handle actual interaction without memeing or shitposting cartoon lewd pics.
>>722648275What are you talking about? What sound cues?
>>722641723>main "draw" of the game is that it's a "2D" platformer but rotated 90 degrees so it's forward-and-back instead of left-to right>games became full-3D>the main draw is now irrelevant>Naughty Dog then moved on to make the Jak games>then market changes killed off mascot stuff, so ND went all in on Uncharted and Last of Us and completely washed their hands of fun to focus on being a dead-serious boring devThat's the biggest part of it anyway.Honestly the #1 is just that mascot shit and platformers aren't super popular very often.
Faggot here, can I still get all achievements just fine if I play that one mod that fixes everything?
>>722647073>but all of the fucking sudden a game actually has tasks and you suddenly cry about itWrong, I can prove it as well. TfB fundamentally DID NOT understand what they were requesting of the player. We can prove this in multiple ways but for this specific example it will be the use of death and the Restart Level button in the pause menu.In Crash 1, 2, 3 and even WoC deaths were only counted AFTER the first checkpoint. This meant that you didn't need to leave for the map/warproom to get either a gem or activate a Death Route unless you broke a checkpoint. This follows the logic of needing to complete the level or reach the Death Route platform in one try.In Crash 4 however they count deaths from the start. Now why is this an issue? Well first of all you have two collectables that center around death(The Under 3 Deaths Gem and the N.Sanely Perfect Relic). THE SECOND is that to reset the death counter you need to select the Restart Level option in the Pause Menu. Now why is that a problem? It's a problem because of how it operates. In previous Crash games when you restart a level it drops you right back at the start as if you just spawned in. On top of that it's near instant.WITH CRASH 4, the Restart Level button RELOADS THE ENTIRE LEVEL INCLUDING CUTSCENES(which is another problem, WHY THE FUCK ARE CUTSCENES ATTACHED TO THE LEVELS INSTEAD OF IN AN EASY TO VIEW VIDEO GALLERY something even fucking porn games made by 4 guys can do). So EVERY TIME YOU DIE while trying to get an N.Sanely Perfect relic you'll need to RELOAD THE ENTIRE LEVEL which can take well over a couple minutes if you played it on launch on PS4 or xbox(which mind you was a point of complaint towards Wrath of Cortex so it's already known to be indefensible among Crash fans.)And finally to make this all worse, the solution to the "Level Restart" issue is so obscenely easy to solve. JUST CHANGE ONE FUCKING INT VALUE but Toys for Nogs couldn't even do that right.
>>722648350Some of the most famous secrets of Doom have door sounds just far enough from the player to let them know something opened when they walked over a linedef. There are dedicated functions for it iirc. The only ones that are a bit out there are the shootable objects that American McGee loved to use in his levels. Romero did as well in Sigil, but those were pretty well textured and sign posted if you were actually looking.
>>722648408Half of your argument is about things that has nothing to do with the topic. We're talking about the challenges.People don't seem to mind losing their stuff in soul games, why is it suddenly a problem now?
>>722647459>I'm not even talking about platformers, plenty of other games have pulled stuff like thisThat's great retard. WE are talking about CRASH BANDICOOT a series of video games that this abomination tried to claim it was a "true sequel" to. A game that DID NOT do that shit aside from ONE SINGULAR INSTANCE that everyone rightfully hates.
>>722648413I legit have never heard anything about sound cues.>American McgeeThat makes more sense if true.
>>722647840Well balanced, but fair, with a reasonable range for success based on observation of the movements with in the environment. You know, what the original Crash games did. You DID play those right?
>>722648503Your complaints are not that big of a deal though. Shouldn't you be happy it's more challenging since you're older now so when you did complete something it felt like you accomplished something?
>>722648234>because numerous gamesAnd how many times do we need to tell you that we are talking about ONE SINGLE SERIES OF GAMES. CRASH BANDICOOT
>>722648548>Well balanced, but fairThat's not what a challenge is though. A challenge is supposed to be a test.>with a reasonable range for success based on observationSo then why bitch about the crates if you know where they are now?
>>722648596My point still remains. Crash isn't immune to change. He's changed many times before. We don't talk about those times.
>>722648480>Half of your argument is about things that has nothing to do with the topicNo, it has everything to do with the topic. You're just defending a bunch of troons that didn't even know how to change a single int value and instead needed to reload an entire level AND CUTSCENES.>People don't seem to mind losing their stuff in soul gamesRight. Now please remind me, what is the name of the series we're discussing?Crash Souls? NoCrash Knight? NoCrash Gaiden? NoIt's right on the tip of my tongue OH YEAHCRASH BANDICOOTIf you make a CRASH BANDICOOT game, there are expectations you must abide by. Otherwise it is a bad CRASH BANDICOOT game.Crash Bandicoot is not Doom, it is not Dark Souls, it is not Mario, it is not Ninja Gaiden, it is not Hollow Knight, it is CRASH BANDICOOT.DO YOU UNDERSTAND?
>>722648752Wow you like using caps lock, as if that's supposed to intimidate me or something.I can see why you rage quit playing. You're a huge baby.
>>722648576>Shouldn't you be happy it's more challengingIt's not "more challenging" in a manner that fits what Crash Bandicoot is. I DON'T WANT Dark Souls in my Crash Bandicoot game.I want the levels to be well made, with a proper sense of rhythm, to be fair and to not have 50 points of no return and 500 boxes in a stage with 20 of which hidden off camera or blending into the scenery because those speds wouldn't understand good level design if it showed up out of nowhere and raped them.I don't want kaizou bullshit in my Crash Bandicoot game, I want kaizou bullshit in my kaizou bullshit game.
>>722648752Imagine wasting your time writing all that while the guy is just making the most annoying shit eating grin because you've replied to him, should've just called him a retard
>>722648861You keep using the word kaizou but I don't think you know what that means. Did you just learn that word?
>>722648649>Crash isn't immune to changeAnd yet the "changes" you're defending are the same ones that the fans shat on relentlessly the last time it happened.>too many boxes>levels too long>too many points of no returnIt's just a worse Wrath of Cortex.
>>722648884What else is there to say? If you know where the crates are now, go get them. Problem fucking solved. If you keep dying, that's on you. What else was I supposed to say?
>>722648892What does it mean then, oh wise niggerfaggot?
>>722648912Why does it not bother me but bothers you so much? You could say I never played the game, that's up for you to decide, but I'm not a child anymore. Crash was hard when I was a kid. I'm a middle aged man now. It's okay to crank the difficulty heat.
>>722648953The term used in games meaning you need precise inputs in order to get through a level.
>>722648987>Why does it not bother meBecause you're a TfB shill who's butthurt that people don't like the abomination those faggots made.>You could say I never played the gameYou haven't, that's pretty obvious with how you talk about the games.>Crash was hard when I was a kidIt wasn't. It's okay to crank the difficulty heat. It's meant to be a children's game, it's meant to be fair. Lazy faggots that can't even get basic level design and color theory right and just pass it off as "difficult" don't have a right to speak.
>>722649039>you need precise inputs in order to get through a levelAnd how does a kaizou game ensure you enter those precise inputs?
>>722649130>Because you're a TfB shill who's butthurt that people don't like the abomination those faggots made.I'm not allowed to like something you don't? >>722649208>Oh so now we're just going to tell me my experiences was a lie?Yes, I will. You being retarded doesn't mean the game is "The Dark Souls of platformers," It's a moderate challenge because of how they allow the player to be patient and plan their next moves. Introductions to enemies and mechanics was done expertly, learning how to navigate around them was fair and well balanced. You being retarded doesn't make this "hard" it makes you retarded.
>>722649352>Unfunny story that also expects you to take part of it seriouslyAre you bipolar? It's cartoon characters

>>722649446011110010110010101110011
>>722649267>you had no problem in those animal riding stages in the earlier gamesBecause those aren't kaizou. Kaizou is TIGHT timings, they have a miniscule range for success. With the boar you have plenty of space and plenty of timing to respond to and act in relation to each hazard. With Polar you have the burst dash to extend your jump as well as that same space and timing. And then with Pura you have a constant dash you can activate which gives you an extended jump that allows for better response ranges to each hazard. If the animal riding stages were kaizou like you're trying to claim the hazards would be far more numerous and you'd have hardly any room to move.

>>722641723Because despite 4 making decent money and saving the quarter for Activision due to underperformance from COD it didn't make INFINITE money so they sent TfB to the cod mines. And you can't talk about the game on /v/ because there's a couple resident schizos who think alt dimension Tawna killed the franchise and not the actual answer of management being fucking dumb across the industry. Also the TfB models are better looking than the felt puppet look of CTR even if the designs are worse in some parts.C4 has legitimate flaws that have been discussed to death, but it's still a solid 7/10 game.
>>722641723Activision and dei
>>722651170>Because despite 4 making decent moneyThe first month sales (emphasis on FIRST MONTH) were 80% lower than the Nsane Trilogy. That's why TFB's Wumpa League and Crash 5 was cancelled immediately. The game was a huge flop.

>>722653059Realistically, it could with the Switch release. Not just cause that's where the platformer audience is but cause it got a price cut down to $40. Even then, it might not have been profitable when its all said and done. That's why TFB ended up laying off people in the end.
>>722653249I actually almost bought it on Switch until I found out it was digital only in my region, even though I got a physical N. Sane Trilogy cartridge. Thanks Activision, you saved me 40 bucks.
