Killzone blew its load and bled out as the devs went to fuck off to open world robodino shooting, Resistance is long buried after running its course, Halo is spinning its wheels for whoring itself out but has nothing to stand on but a MTX-ridden game that was horrifically incomplete at launch, Half-Life is still incognito despite its promises with Alyx's ending, Unreal is long buried, and virtually every other franchise died out or is stuck in some F2P hero shooter or battle royale hell, like how Titanfall got murdered for Apex Legends. You want your Halo fix? Go play Helldivers 2 for the unfortunately underbaked and overpriced ODST collab unless you really like the style, or goddamn Fortnite with its anorexic SPARTAN-IVs.There's no pick up and play shooters, or couch co-op action sessions, and you're damn lucky DICE is throwing a bone for BF Portal in BF6 having a pseudo-Forge mode, but that's the exception to the rule. Everything's microtransactions, live service, and minimum viable effort for maximum product. Campaigns are becoming a borderline taboo word, an arbitrary thing the AAAs only add because it's expected since it didn't fly well with CoD the one time they skipped it. And forget an intricate sandbox of weapons and vehicles used at the player's discretion when offered like the old Halo games. And even the campaigns we do get are all basically borderline Bollywood insanity with excess swearing and lots of blood flung around trying to be edgy and hip for the 4/20 dudebro weed gamers.Shit's dire, man. Only way you're seeing anything like a Halo campaign again is someone pulling an Expedition 33 on the shooter industry without being yet another a pure boomer shooter indie game to the pile.
