The System Shock remake is the best game released this decade.
its aight
this is kinda true
>>722652307The final boss fight falls off hard, but you're basically right.
It doesnt count
>>722652307system shock 2, thief 1&2 and deus ex are way better games
Unreal slop and bizarre artdirection make it slightly worse than it could be The choice to have fucking borderline claymation looking shaders on environments and characters is bizarre
>>722652529I actually loved the art direction. Let's be real. It's AA quality game. And a little bit of "demake" style on top of everything makes it look "stylish" instead of "cheap".No idea what kind of Unreal problem people have with it too.
>>722652468Agreed. SS1 feels too much like a rat lost in a maze.SS2 feels like Rorshach in Prison.
>>722652529I think they are meant to look like prerendered sprites, but it's kind of in contrast to the pixelated textures, so it does look odd.
>>722653010hmm, nah.
>>722652307Valid take
I literally got filtered by the first puzzle.
I liked it. But some aspects are uncomfortable. It's tedious to hack virtual spaces. The arguments don't play a significant role (the flashlight is an absolute disgrace). There aren't many useful things to spend money on. I understand that this is a remake, and it's important to give credit to the original game, but more advanced gameplay mechanics wouldn't have made the game any worse.
>>722653010>SS2 feels like Rorshach in Prison. What a weird take.
>>722652307Ye it's bretty gud
Balance kind of fell apart towards the end for me. Even juggling the full spread of guns with many upgrades I still felt really starved for the damage needed to put the bots down in a lot of encounters which turned into a series of savescumming when I'd get practically instagibbed on some spawns. Most of the time I'd throw my hands up and bruteforce rooms with shields and the laser rapier (same as I did with the Dragon's Tooth in Deus Ex) because I wanted to keep making progress instead of hitting reload over and over.Had no complaints all throughout the game up until after the midway point though, aside from how fucked the inventory juggle is and some of the progress flags being either really easy to miss (severed head) or not giving any real lead (well this elevator is locked, guess I need to keep doing whatever else until the game unlocks it).
>>722655459I never felt outgunned, except during boss fights. I cycled through weapons to keep ammo fresh and abused the fuck out of energy weapon recharges, so I could afford to dump everything I had into most encounters if I had to.
I enjoyed the headshot damage and dismembermentThe crazy plasma gun you get right near the end is fucking balls out
3221The gentleman's way to play.
>>722652307Mayhaps, I prefer the enhanced edition, but still quite good
>>722652307>Barely any Health items to be found>Enemies endlessly respawn if you don't hurrywtf, I just wanna read and listen to the logs so I can figure out where the hell to go.Not to mention that inventory management is never fun
>>722655804>no health>inventory management isn't fun>you played recklessly and used your resources poorlyTell me you're black without telling me you're black.
>>722652468No kidding? That's why I said Best released this decade!
>>722652307visual vomit. Prey 2017 is way better
>>722655945Blacks usually don't read logs
>>722655804Remember that health pod on like level 3 that you can never get to?And the booby-trapped health pod on one of the higher levels, that was a good oneI think the regeneration booth halfway through a level was a good way of releasing some tension. After you unlock it, you can just go on suicide missions and kill as much as you can before you die and get regenerated again
i agree. couldnt believe how much i loved a new game.
