Remember this astroturfed piece of shit?

>>
Is this game worth it if you (correctly) think actual NES games are 99.8% dogshit?
>>
>>722655225
The game is fucking excellent though.
Pathetic that the game upsets you so however. Have you been trying to sell some shitty indie games yourself and you're massively jealous of this clearly superior game getting the kind of attention your game never did and never will? How typical.
>>
Hello!
>>

Anyone?
>>
>>722656225
No, every game has that retro game artificial difficulty because othwrwose they would take 20 minutes to beat
>>
>>722656514
most of the games are fairly easy tbqh
>>
>>722655401
Only a small handful of the games play like NES games. And even those games have very modern influences to their design.
Despite what some might think, the game isn't aiming to accurately replicate retro games. UFOSoft in-game weren't like other developers at the time. It's an alt-history collection of games.
And for better or worse they're modern indie games. But they're great games.

>And for better or worse they're modern indie games.
Cultural appropriation is what this game is guilty of, then. Aping the aesthtic while not understanding its relation to the games as a whole.

good stuff, strong selection of decent games. Also Combatants
>>
>>722655401
It has nothing to do with NES. It has nothing to do with old games either (neither the good ones nor the bad ones). It's 100% indie pixelshit games. The art and music are very amateurish. Some games are playable and interesting, but without much depth.
>>
>another thread by the absolute schizo that seethes in every ufo50 thread that the games aren't "authentically" retro
You're absolutely mind broken.
>>
>>722659575
No idea who you are talking about. My problem with this game is exactly the other way around. This game was sold to me as being retro games but modernized, meanwhile they are even more bullshit and full of artificial difficulty than actual games from that era
>>
>>722660325
How? Play Mini & Max, Party House. Rail Heist, or even Night Manor or something. And tell me how that's true?
Instead of just basing your opinion of the entire collection on something like Barbuta or the Arcade category games like Velgress or Campanella or whatever (and these games are splendid still)

Threads about what? Even if the game was an 11/10, what is there even to talk about?
>>
>>722655401
It has some modern game design philosophies and sensibilities. There's really only one game that's intentionally obtuse, which is the first game in the collection. If you think you'll have fun playing 50 experimental 2D games that would never get published alone, go ahead. There are definitely interesting concepts in there that you would never want to try, and are only trying because they're bundled with something else.
>>
>>722662561
>If you think you'll have fun playing 50 experimental 2D games that would never get published alone, go ahead
A good number of those games would sell standalone.

You know it's artificially shilled trash because the moment you try to bring up an actual complete package of well-developed games, included in-universe documentation, and even in-game "bros" who talk about the games with you, everyone goes stone cold silent.
NoFun50 went the lazy route and stoked fires of artificial engagement by lazily shirking off the "complete package" to (You), the product.
Filtering this thread.
>>

maybe it's because no one played an obscure nintendo DS game from 20 years ago
I'll take your word that it's good
>>
>>722655401
it's pretty good. like >>722657084 said
most games don't play like any other NES games, the biggest example of this I would cite being the idle game, and my favorite of the bunch Mini and Max which contains a slew of levels which hide various secrets
>>
>>722662832
Not him and I'm less generous than him, but grimstone probably has enough content to stand as a standalone game. Party House is mechanically interesting enough to sell as a standalone game, but could use more content. I'd say there's 1.5 to 2.
>>
I was somewhat disappointed there wasn't more of a meta narrative, they even have that little debug menu and secret messages you can find if you enter it at the right times
>>

I'm glad the meta narrative wasn't forced down my throat. I just want gameplay man.
>>
>yea bro this indie game made by 3 people has the money to set up an astroturfing campaign all over the internet
this thread was made by an EA or Ubisoft marketer, likely a pajeet, they've been pretty aggressively trying to discredit any indie game
>>
>>722655225
Everything except the shoot-em-ups were good.
>>
>>722663568
>yea bro this indie game made by 3 people
Love when people unironically think that this was just some random indie game made by 3 no-name devs that sprung up from the ether.
This was quite possibly the least indie "indie" game ever developed, but you'd only know this if you bothered to look at the credits list.
>>
>>722662278
>What fans it has hypes it up as great but in reality no one gives a fuck. Didn’t even get any genuine threads (or any that lasted anyway)
That's completely and utterly untrue though.
>>
>>722663673
Yeah it's obnoxious how people act like very big indie release is some small passion project. Undertale had massive backing from Fangamer and Fox was already a micro celebrity for example but everyone acts like it's the same exact deal as Cave Story.
>>
>>722663639

At this rate the game is being targeted rather than being shilled. Its been a year. You played about 3 or 5 games, didn't win instantly and still can't stop bleeding from the ass.
>>
>>722664659
pajeet marketers from EA or Ubisoft trying to discredit every single indie game on /v/
that's what's going on

same tactic in every single indie game thread around, claim it's not actually indie, claim it's being supported by a big nebulous corporation and then claim that said big nebulous corporation is pushing the game here

nigga that's just people talking about a game. The fuck is wrong with you faggots? Every time people enjoy something you act like there's some conspiracy going on.
>>
>>722655401
It's hard to recommend this game because there's like 50 different games and each game varies wildly in duration, quality and ideas, many of these games try to mimic retro classic (there's a windjammer clone for example, there's a game that plays sorta like son son, there's an horror adventure that sorta like deja vu and a Roguelike deck builder)
Ultimately I thought it was pretty unimpressive (thought I didn't play max and mini,a platformer where you shrink which seemed to be everyone favorite game in the collection) and I couldn't understand why /v/ shilled it so much other than a bunch of California indie dearies were involved, which is also why the game is full of random niggers and ugly characters (this feel particularly bad in the final fight clone where one of the character is a woman with the biggest manjaw ever)

>>
>>722670532
>>722672641
I do wonder if 90% of the seethe of this game is just because the devs wanted to troll and put barbuta first. I personally hated it, but love a lot of the later games.
I have to wonder if barbuta was behind ninpek or something (like how mooncat is later) if there would be less gamer rage in these threads.

>>
>>722661773
nta but most of the games are way too short even by nes standards and don't get to fully expand their ideas, and a dozen of games or so are inferior to the games they're ripping off from (off the top of my head: all the shmups, the Sonson clone, the pocky & rocky clone, the beat'em up and probably more). They should have trimmed it down to the 15~ best games and expanded on them, rather than leaving everything feeling incomplete for the sake of a gimmick.
