Hello /v/, I'm here to employ your expertise. I've been searching for this game for years and at every turn it's eluded me. After all this time, part of me is angry at my childhood self for never picking the controller back up to play it again.I played the game when i was a kid (maybe 2008-2012). I think it was a horror game, though it may have been action or something, but definitely on the Xbox 360. The console and games belonged to my sister before having been passed down to me, so most of the games I played back then were from franchises that I didn't have any real knowledge of; I'd assume most were either apart of popular gaming franchises or popular tv series. It was a linear story game, and most assets were kinda washed and grimey. It was definitely 3D and3rd person, and the one section I remember most was walking past crime-scene tape into a large open tunnel, basically a sewer, wherein a loud roar can be heard. After that, I remember turning off my xbox and checking under my bed for monsters lol. So far I've checked Silent Hill Downpour, The Evil Within, Alone in the Dark, Condemned 1/2, Deadly Preminition, Infernal, Here They Lie, and Murdered Soul Suspect, none of which match my memory.I know I haven't provided many details but I promise that if I could see this scene again, I'd know it. It had a real grip on me for years. Looking back, I really don't know why it was so scary to me, I don't remember there being any monsters or anything in frame to actually scare me, just the roar was enough.(pic only slightly related)
>>722655970Silent Hill HD Collection?
Only thing that comes to mind is The Suffering.
>>722656068visually Silent Hill 3 is a pretty close match, but unfortunately neither games are exactly what i remember
>>722656165>The Suffering>Xbox 360
>>722656361ain't it backwards compatible?
>>722655970alan wake? altough never playe dit.
>the one section I remember most was walking past crime-scene tape into a large open tunnel, basically a sewer, wherein a loud roar can be heard. That's not much intel to wotk with anon. Doesn't really ring any bells
>>722656641if it's any consolation, i didn't really expect it to be found. i've kinda accepted that it's very likely that this was just some indie game that never got popular and was just forgotten about.
>>722656689Well, have you checked a complete list of all 360 releases to see if any name rings a bell?
>>722655970resident evil 5?
>>722655970Silent Hill Homecoming has a sewer level, and there was a roar preluding mini boss fight
>>722656689Dead to rights?
>>722656831unfortunately doubt i'll remember. i was so young, i just popped a disc into the tray and hoped i'd like the game, instead ended up shitting myself and terrified for the night>>722656847no, this isn't it>>722656896this was super close visually, but again not quite it. i remember it being a direct level change from outside into the main big room the moment you cross the threshold of the door>>722656949not quite :/
>>722655970Could it be The Darkness? I didn't play it but it's a gritty Xbox 360 game. There's also some obscure vampire game for the 360 but I'm not sure that was horror even though it had dark aesthetics
Maybe one of the saw games?
>>722657482Not third person but that was one of my guesses. Great game where they were trying to push the limits of the 360. Jenny dying was crazy and the revenge felt so good. Fun fact: when you’re at her house you can watch that old movie in its entirety with her on your lap and enjoy girlfriend simulator.
I have a similar request to OP. I played this game around 2001 and it was a flying arena shooter where you controlled a dragon of your choice, there were several to choose from with different stats. And you were flying around arena shooting other dragons. When I tried googling it I only found Panzer Dragoon, but the game I'm searching for was structured more like Quake 3, just flying, there were still pick ups around the map, and you played for score.
>>722655970Arkham Asylum's killer croc bit?Try asking chatgpt for help that's how I found one of my childhood games.
>>722655970The Suffering? Maybe Condemned?
>>722658295Just saw you mentioned condemned, still though, possibly the suffering. I can barely remember the game myself.
>>722658219not quite this one, but i was floating around the idea that it may have been a Lizard area in one of the Spiderman games. i don't think it's likely, i remember the disk enough to not think it was a spiderman game, but time hazes memories so it's always possible
>>722657809I actually remember getting that game from a PC game magazine but I dont remember its name.
i haven't played them but maybe resident evil 4,5 or 6?
>>722655970The SufferingObscure
>>722657482Vampire Rain?
>>722657809>>722658523Sounds a bit like Drakan: Order of the Flame multiplayer.
maybe the saw games? 1 or 2?
>>722657284>this was super close visually, but again not quite it. i remember it being a direct level change from outside into the main big room the moment you cross the threshold of the doorNTA but have you considered, anon, that your memory might not be as accurate as you think? Especially if you just played that part once and immediately switched it off. We all tend to mix some things up and overestimate our ability to recall.
>>722658835i'm absolutely certain of what i remember. if i'm misremembering, i might need to be tested for dementia, because the memory has been in my head for about as long as i can remember. it's really frustrating for me, because i can remember it so vividly, but i just don't have an adequate method to communicate it
>>722655970Like the other anon said 'Vampire Rain' is the only other contender you haven't answered on yet. Otherwise you'll have to say more. I'm watching this thread now and want to know too.
>>722658992Fair enough anon. I've had some things I've been certain I've remembered a certain way only to see that they were different, and that's just normal, not a dementia thing. But I hope you're remembering accurately and are able to find what it is.>because i can remember it so vividly, but i just don't have an adequate method to communicate itMaybe write down some bullet points, try to remember some more things, and write down some more? Rank them in order of certainty.
>>722655970Spec Ops: The Line?
You remember how the MC looked like? How the HP bar was designed? Anything at all?
>>722659317unfortunately not Vampire Rain either. at this point i'm doubting it was a game that ever really got any notoriety, could've very well been a local/indie project
Alan Wake (2010)?
>>722659725i remember the MC was male. could've been police or fbi but definitely some kid of fed. no health bar from what i remember. this specific scene played with a wide cinematic view, not just behind-the-back 3rd person. initially was relatively sure of Silent Hill Downpour, but i haven't seen anything like i remember. at the very least it's very similar
>>722655970Were you playing on your sisters save files or is it a new save?
Inb4 its fucking legendary
uuuh Dark Sector?
>>722660014this is the one piece that's perplexed me; this part i genuinely don't know. i'm pretty sure it was a pre-existing save, because i don't remember any dialogue or cutscenes beforehand. i just remember being outside, then crossing police tape, being inside, taking a few steps, then being howled at
Hijacking this thread to find a game I also got scared of: I remember it was a fixed camera game like Resident Evil and it had a really scary section where you walk through a dark factory? It may be on the PS1 or PS2
Alone in the Dark 2008?
>>722655970>walking past crime-scene tape into a large open tunnel, basically a sewer, wherein a loud roar can be heardThis is Silent Hill 5: Homecoming
>>722660257that's what i keep hearing but it's not what i remember. in SH5 you drop into the sewers and have to walk through the tunnels to the miniboss. i remember just walking into the sewers and immediately being screeched at
>>722660135>I remember it was a fixed camera game like Resident Evil and it had a really scary section where you walk through a dark factory? You can give us more than that, anon.
>>722658339>i remember the disk enoughCould you maybe draw what you remember? Even vague shapes and colors would help. There might even be some database of all 360 disc designs online so that might be your best bet.
>>722655970Condemned
>>722660257(samefagging)I see someone has already suggested this and you shot it down. Consider:The character just got out of the army and is still wearing most of his uniform. IIRC the health car only appears when you take damage and disappears soon after. The immediate preceding area to the sewer level is a police station which has no easy savepoints, and is in fact a run-away-only-option section. The roar in the sewer section alludes to the boss (which is a bitch of a fight and not helped by the game being broken) well before you actually encounter it. SHV released on the 360. I'm 100% sure this is the game you're looking for.
>>722660213I thought this game was cool but people absolutely shat on it.
on my phone rn and i'm definitely not an artist, so mind the awful art, but this is what i remember. a single taped off door leads directly from the outside into a large open room. once you step into the room from the doorway, you're roared at by something. i remember it being very loud; it wasn't a howl or a yell, it was definitely a roar. the room was dim asf, the only light was coming in from a grate above the middle of the room. it didn't have a piss filter like some of the other game's i've seen, it was a lot more grey than yellow/green. the camera angle was about the same perspective as my drawing, i remember the MC entering frame from the right
>>722661060This is a perfect description of the SHV sewer boss fight
>>722661197This. Watch it on youtube.
>>722655970obscure?
>>722660854>people absolutely shat on itAnd rightly so
>>722661060>rn>asfdo your own research you dumb fucking retard zoomer
>>722661197>>722661343it's not. i specifically mentioned walking into the sewers, not dropping into them from a manhole cover. and again, there wasn't a cutscene. in SHV, the entire process of entering the sewers was a cutscene.
>>722661479it's 3am in hawaii rn, suck it from a straw
>>722660538That's all I got t. 5 year old brain glancing it on a screen for a brief moment
childhood gamenesia thread?does anyone know some SNES game with a crash lookalike? I think stage 2 was an auto scroller in a road, kinda like that contra 3 level
>>722661525Consider again that your memory may be faulty when it comes to those specific details
>>722655970this picture reminds me of In Cold Blood but i don't think it's what you are looking for
>>722658724Nah it was some other vampire game where the protagonist is recently turned or something
>>722660135Could it be Nocturne for PS1 and PC? It is a RE clone (one of my favs RE clones btw) and it has a factory area preceded by a warehouse area https://youtu.be/HakQyCTR_fY?si=SYOX2ftFQ49dFz9H
Consider also that SHV was a very broken game with all sorts of bugs. It's entirely possible that the cutscene got skipped because of a bug or the save was fucked and momentarily showed a section of the preceding police area before loading the boss fight area. IIRC, the autosave right before the boss fight still required you to walk into the room. Like I posted earlier, I'm 100% sure you're talking about SHV.
I have one.>90s RTS>somehow i ended up with a demo for it, cant remember where it came from>graphics similar to age of empires 2>was medieval fantasy but had a dark theme to ir>the one map you could play was always night time and it looked like a desolate wasteland with dead trees>pic related kinda resembles it>you could only play as human in the demo but you were against monsters>im pretty sure the enemy used minotaurs, ghosts and skeletons
>>722661990it can't be VTMB, unless you're a turbo newfag
>>722662340warlords battlecry 1, 2 or 3?
>replying to some zoomer faggot who's trying to start a le lost media arg because he's addicted to YouTube eceleb video essay slop
>>722662382Nah it's not VTMB either, it was an obscure one.
>>722662000Damn, this is basically impossible to find on PS1. The PC version is abandonware at least.
Honestly sounds kinda like early on in silent hill 2 just before you get the radio and bit of wood
>>722662340Tzar: Burden of the Crown
>>722662437>obscureit'd be pretty funny if Obscure was the game you're thinking of
>>722662407This. These threads are usually this lol
>>722662536Ah no I found ithttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_(video_game)Cheers!
>>722660135I'll drop martian gothic down as a potential, but that's got a lot more memorable shit than a dark factory, like the floating corpse that comes to life and attacks you if you try to go past it
>>722655970
>>722662450Lol yeah luckily I still have the OG cd for the PC version. Anyway, just get it from here https://www.myabandonware.com/game/nocturne-bgz if you wanna play it. The patch works just fine
>>722660038
>>722662671oh hell yeah that's another childhood fave of mine (I'm the Nocturnefag), featuring undying zombies lol that particular scared the shit out of me
>>722662635what the hell is this even
>>722661795help
>>722661525Maybe you just skipped the cutscene as a kid.
>>722662635not the game i'm looking for, but i do think i actually owned a copy of this game, so good shout
>>722655970It's very unlikely to be Constantine video game, but it could be.
>>722658219bro, imagine not knowing Batman
>>722662692Already downloading it, thanks anon. It looks great.
OP lost. Silent Hill Homecoming it is
>>722656531Theres no part like that in Alan wake. Maybe a dlc but not the main game.
>>722664225enjoy it anon! the main character is so cool, I wish they would remake this game. just fyi Nocturne was made by the same guys who made Bloodrayne and it (Bloodrayne) features various references to Nocturne. btw, there's also a Nocturne spin-off: Blair Witch project vol. 1. You play as one of the characters from Nocturne and features its same gameplay. Vol 2 and Vol 3 are also available but though the gameplay is always the same, the cast is completely different and has no references to Nocturne.
>>722665201Actually that sounds familiar, I think I downloaded it years ago and never got around to playing it. I'll just have to make sure I do it this time
OP won. Silent Hill Homecoming it isnt
>>722662676>AI is even stupider than /v/never thought I'd see the day
