What video games have the most bitchy, annoying female characters?
>>
In this era of girlboss "don't you mansplain things to me!" era, I'm sure there's plenty, but I don't play them to be able to say. The only one off the top of my head is Dragon Age: Veilgard, from the threads here. In the threat of a world ending destruction, the blue girl still demands giving lectures on non-binary over figuring out the problem, as well as treating everyone else like shit in the name of tolerance, while the player seems forced to play schoolyard nanny for her so everyone plays nice.

Is it time for our weekly off-topic WoT thread?
I used to hate Nynaeve but now I realized she's about the only woman who can get shit done in the books, probably because she doesn't give a shit about the Tower.
Aiel woman can stay too.

Nynaeve is based. Even at her worst, her behaviour makes sense once you realize she's being such a shrew because she's intentionally trying to stay angry all the time so she can channel, because she's terrified.
>>
>>722661804
Veilguard was shit and Taash is the worst character Bioware ever created, but she's nothing like what you wrote. Stop assuming everything retards write here is fact.

I read this literally only looking for a reference to the meat grinder, and I was not disappointed. That is the single most memorable scene to me of the entire series.

I mean there are plenty of times where Nynaeve is just a raging bitch for basically no reason as she's not being threatened, but yes she at least has an established reason for why she needs to be so angry all the time except when she breaks her block then she's just a cunt[/spoiler.
>>722662038
While I doubt they would ever make another WoT game after how much the show bombed, it's really tailor-made for a 4x game.
>can pick any one of the major countries to play as
>initial goal is managing your faction to political/economical/military success, ala Civilization
>Aes Sedai/Darkfriend events can forcefully sway you one way or another, maybe armies across the ocean/Aiel incursions as well
>at a certain point the Dragon is reborn, you have to choose how to support him and prepare for the Last Battle
>Beating the game once unlocks the White tower as a faction, which goes all-in on the political espionage aspect of the gameplay as you set up puppet states to support the Dragon
>Beating the game as the White Tower unlocks The Foresaken, which have no home faction and are trying to undermine everyone in preparation for the Last Battle
>>

I stopped reading when Rand goes full retard.
The first thing he should have done was to dismantle the Seanchan but no. He's too retarded.
>>
>>722660957

>>
>>722662562
>>722662241
There's a few scenes which are pretty peak for the series.
>Rand experiencing his ancestral memories during the trials at Rhuidean or whatever it's called
>Mat casually killing the Aiel False Dragon in battle during the battle for Cairhien
>Nynaeve beating Mogheiden in a battle of the Source while realizing to any non-channeling outsider it looks like two women just standing there staring at one another
>>
>>722662634
Rand realized not only that he needs the Seanchan during the Last Battle although I can't even remember what they really did during it, he can't just go around nuking entire cities/civilizations that disagree with him without losing his humanity and succumbing to the Dark.
Although for that brief period when Rand DOES go full autism-mode and abandons his emotions briefly is some of the best parts of the later books, where everyone realizes just how fucking awe-inspiring and powerful Rand really is.
>>
>>722662872
Oops you accidentally forgot that the show reconned the fact that non-channelers can't see magic.
>>
>>722662038
This chick activated something in me. I knew at that point I'd finish the books.
>>
>>722660957
I think even with Egwene in competition Elayne steal the 1st place of most annoying bitch ever
>>
>>722663063
>although I can't even remember what they really did during it
They provided a large, well trained army and vastly superior officer corps to what any of the other nations could really provide. There was only a handful of generals who were even on the same level as the better Seanchan leaders tactically and they ended up being compromised by Hessalam.
In addition they simply had better trained, better equipped troops. Not levies but an actual professional army.
>>
>>722662562
>It never hit that same note again.
>>
>>722663063
>how fucking awe-inspiring and powerful Rand really is
That scene after he leaves dragon mount, shows up to the blight border, and proceeds to smoke like 10,000 shadow spawn with every possible offensive spell ever Absolute kino
>>
>>722663306
Yeah I figured they were just the majority of the armed forces of the Light but it's been a while since I read the last book so the details are a little fuzzy. All that particularly sticks with me is Mat achieving superior informational control by thinking with fucking portals.
>final few books just drop that several major characters, including the top-tier general of the Light, are darkfriends
I understand it was probably planned from the beginning and I just missed it but it did feel like a bit of an asspull.
>>
>>722663282
No way. Elayne had her woman moments, but compared to Egwene and Nynaeve she's an angel.
>>
>>722662537
Good thing it was literally the only screen adaptation we'll ever get especially because of how badly they fucked it. It's almost like they should've made the show for the people that already enjoyed the series instead of the retarded masses.
>>
>>722663523
They weren't darkfriends, they were under compulsion.
>>
>>722663525
If only Elaynes story wasn't mostly shit and I like the books
>>
>>722663403
Rand really just got to play with all the cool spells
>Balefire's someone so hard that the past few hours of their actions are reversed and half the cast is brought back to life
>Ribbons of fire that just skewer people's hearts and brains for an insta-kill
>Deathgates to nowhere vacuuming up entire armies into the void
Meanwhile everyone else is like
>uhhhh bigger fireball
>uhhh more lightning
>>
>>722663063
>Rand realized not only that he needs the Seanchan during the Last Battle although I can't even remember what they really did during it, he can't just go around nuking entire cities/civilizations that disagree with him without losing his humanity and succumbing to the Dark.

THERE IS NO NEED FOR THAT
Rand can just teleport. Teleport to Tuons room and Compulsion her. There is no way Tuon can break free of Callandor powered Compulsion. That does not work? Then use Choedan Kal powered Compulsion.
If not Compulsion, then KIDNAP TUON.
And thn kidnap the rest of the Seanchan high Lords and then put ADams on them to show that Damane and Suldam are both channelers. Entire Seanchan retardation falls apart. This is not difficult.

I think even RJ got his brain fried from being in Vietnam to the point he failed to see alternatives.
>>
The only real interesting chapters are Rand and Mat, everything else was boring filler
>>
>>722663525
M8 Elayne gets a large portion of her nation's army killed because she had a woman moment and got captured by the forces of the Dark.
>>722663578
I can't even begin to list all the things the show did wrong but I think the worst affront was making fucking Elayne have a gay relationship with Avinhadra or whatever her name was. You took what was almost a Platonic ideal of the friendship between two women and made it about sex, which is not only offensive to people who read the books and understood that they were like sisters to each other, but also erodes the idea that two women can also experience the close bonds of friendship just like men and thus undermines the fucking point of the show.
It also didn't help that the casting and makeup for Avin was fucking AWFUL, she looked like a fucking meth-addict you'd find on a downtown street corner.
>>
>>722663786
>Rand can just teleport. Teleport to Tuons room and Compulsion her
Rand doesn't know Compulsion, and even if he did, he wouldn't use it.

>Entire Seanchan retardation falls apart.
He doesn't WANT the Seanchan society to fall apart. He wants them to be a stabilizing force so there's not absolute anarchy in the power vacuum that's going to exist after his death.
>>
>>722663786
Sanderson cleaning up this slop was just trying to plug as many plot holes as he could before shipping an ending.
>>
>>722663864
Rand and Mats PoVs are the best, but honestly the only PoV is consistently hated was Egwene. The rest are fine.
>>
To be honest, being the only male in Tar'Valon surrounded by thousands of bitchy Catholic school girls (Aes Sedai) who hate you but also like you would be pretty cool.
>>
>>722663786
As >>722663947 said Rand doesn't want to just employ Compulsion to win the Last Battle, as that would entirely de-stablize the world in the wake of his victory and lead to mass war and essentially break the world anew.
Part of his overarching goal is to make sure the nations he has backing him aren't about to start backstabbing each other the second they achieve victory. Sure you can hold a gun to someone's head and make them do what you want them to do, but what's going to happen when you're no longer holding the gun?
>>
>>722663947
>Rand doesn't know Compulsion, and even if he did, he wouldn't use it.

>I wOnT uSE MiND cInTrOl To rEmOvE SLaVERy bUt I WiLl bUrN pEoPle TO dEaTH

You know someone is a retard if they make decisions like that.

>He doesn't WANT the Seanchan society to fall apart. He wants them to be a stabilizing force so there's not absolute anarchy in the power vacuum that's going to exist after his death.

>I want a society of black people to keep slaving their own population.

What did Rand and by extension RJ mean by this?

They've got Warders to fuck, unless you're a 10/10 gigachad physical specimen you can't compete.
I honestly can't think of an average-level character (not amazingly attractive, not physically or strategically gifted, etc.) in the books achieving any sort of success. I guess that one riverboat captain who shacks up with the Seachan woman kind-of qualifies?

I admit I missed the part about abolishing the Seachan's practice of enslaving channelers, but we're talking about a fundamental pillar of not only their culture but also of the army you need to fight the Last Battle; I don't think there's enough time to enact that level of cultural shift before the shit starts to hit the fan.
It's basically a moot point though as the majority of the Seanchan empire in their homeland collapses through civil war and Darkfriend interference, or am I just making that up?

Kidnap every person in charge. EVERYONE.
Make a re-education camp.
Create mind control or mental linking weaves that link peoples mind with each other. Crate shared memory pools where everyone can access others memories.

Deprive people of food.

Only let out the ones that completely understand other peoples viewpoints.

Under famine and exhausted, they would all break eventually.

You're right. Semirhage assassinates the empress and their entire homeland descends into anarchy and civil war.
Part of Rand's treaty is that anyone found able to channel must be given the option to be sent to the white/black tower before they can be collared in Seanchan lands, and Tuon agrees to that.

Berelain uses sex and her looks to achieve what she wants because she knows she's a 10 in a sea of 7's. But when she meets another 10, and not only isn't just attracted to him as a means to an end but actually is swooning over him like every other woman in the series, she drops the whole act and approaches him genuinely.
Jordan was quite the freak but as a whole sex is a pretty big plot point in the series and Berelain is just another example of this.

Yeah I generally enjoyed Berelain, she's not just a 10/10 Gigastacy but also a component ruler honed through years of dealing with an outwardly hostile and much larger neighbor.
The fact that Mayene is like literally next to the Aiel Waste never made sense to me. Unlike Cairhien there's no mountain range block access and seemingly no bad-blood between the two, and yet there's nothing in the books about Mayene trading or establishing relationships with the Aiel?

I'm mostly worried about the last books since I know Sanderson wrote them. not that I hate him or anything (I listened to the original Mistborn trilogy and thought it was alright) but I really like RJ's style, for lack of a better way to put it
>>
>>722665349
The Aiel have no ports and kill/sell anyone aside from a handful of traders who enter their lands, and those traders are required to be guided by Aiel who watch the passes through the dragonwall. Remember when Rhuarc interrogates Hadnan Kadere how he managed to get so far into the waste without a guide?
>>
>>722665319
I want to say that there were far more mismanaged characters under Sanderson's writing than Mat but now that I'm trying to think of one the only one that comes to mind is the whole Thom rescuing Moraine arc.
At least Mat got to do Mat things during the final battle.
>>
>>722665492
Yeah you really notice when Sanderson takes over, but honestly that's like 12 books in so at that point I mostly just wanted to see the conclusion to the story regardless of who wrote it.
>>
I read a really long wheel of time fanfiction on SB that started as a quest, where the original premise was that the mc was some rando channeler from the age of legends that was fighting the war but got stuck in some stasis box. Basically an Isekai at that point because she has modernish values but also knows how channelling works
Well over time the author kept on making her know more movers and shakers from the AOL like, Selene the bitch hated her guts for contrived reasons, she used to date Sammael before he turned to the dark, shit like that
It got contrived fast
>>
>>722665505
I suppose that's true, there is mention of Aiel fighting the Borderlanders so why would they allow Mayeners in? It just seemed weird that there wasn't even mention of their geographical proximity.
>>
>>722665545
Memory of Light was 90% written by Jordan. Sanderson absolutely butchered the parts he wrote
>Added his annoying OC donut steel Androl
>Turned a bunch of characters gay for no reason
>Literally completely forgot Sulin existed
>Butchered the conclusion of Berelains character arc
>Turned Mat into a marvel character (thankfully briefly, the only part he wrote of Mat was the little misadventure into the time looping town).
>>
>>722665319
Sanderson just didn't really get Mat
Mat is a funny guy, and so Sanderson wrote him like he writes funny guys, as quippy and wisecracking
But Mat's archetype really pulls from that type of guy you see in the military, Jordan was almost certainly pulling on his memories of Vietnam to write him, like he did all his characters. He's much more like Ray from generation kill
>>
>>722665659
>fanfiction
>got contrived fast

I won't lie when I was like 13 or whatever and first started reading the books I did write some cringe self-insert fanfiction about being a channeler with the Black Tower.

>Black Tower.

>>
>>722665492
What the other person wrote is exactly, word-for-word, my feeling about the Sanderson books. As a (non-spoiler) bonus, there is one scene that poked my eye where a character who has gone a dozen books using "Light!" as an expletive abruptly uses, "Goodness!" as an expletive under Sanderson, and it bothered me a lot more than it should have, because it just felt like he wanted to diversify an established vocabulary.
>>
>what should I name this character?

>>

>>
>>722665793
Maybe I was just in such a hurry to finish the series but I don't remember any of that except the time looping town.
I'm not disagreeing with you, as I generally found Sanderson's writing style to be a huge misfit with Jordan's, so maybe I just need to re-read the series again.
>>722665818
Mat's character has a few distinct phases: Pre-dagger, immediate post-dagger, after being severed from the dagger, post memory-fuckery, etc. Sanderson's Mat felt like he was a pre-dagger Mat and didn't really fit in with how Jordan wrote the character in the later books.
Mat being immune to the Black Wind at the end of the series was pure kino.
>>
>>722665818

>>722666019
Shame Rand kinda went full retard about the Tower, I understand he didn't have the time to oversee their training (and wasn't really in a position to train anyone anyways) but just handing it off to a former False Dragon and Foresaken in disguise no I don't care what you say was pretty stupid.

I liked most of the cast in the first 2 stormlight books, which I also think are the 2 next books of his, and to not bother past there

>I think I need to put a few things straight about this whole shooting down an rpg in flight thing. First off, it definitely comes under do not try this at home even if you ARE an expert. Expert is defined as anyone who has tried it once and is still breathing. You see, there aren't many reasons to try such a thing. But when looking right shows certain death coming hotfoot, and looking left shows a crack in the wall that you couldn't scrape though one time in a million...one in ten million...you instinctively make a dive for the crack. Now I was very lucky. Very lucky. I just happened to be laying down suppression not very far from Mr. NVA when he took his shot, so I only has a small arc to cover. Just a quick shift of the wrist. Still, a lot of luck involved. When the pilot asked what happened, I just said an rpg went off prematurely. I figured he wouldn't believe what happened. Even some guys who saw it all from other choppers didn't believe. I heard a lot of "You know, it almost looked like you shot that thing out of the air" and "You were really lucky that thing went off prematurely. I never heard of that happening before."

>One day, we had what the Aussies called a bit of a brass-up. Just our ship alone, but we caught an NVA battalion crossing a river, and wonder of wonders, we got permission to fire before they finished. The gunner had a round explode in the chamber, jamming his 60, and the fool had left his barrel bag, with spares, back in the revetment. So while he was frantically rummaging under my seat for my barrel bag, it was over to me, young and crazy, standing on the skid, singing something by the Stones at the of my lungs with the mike keyed so the others could listen in, and Lord, Lord, I rode that 60. 3000 rounds, an empty ammo box, and a smoking barrel that I had burned out because I didn't want to take the time to change. We got ordered out right after I went dry, so the artillery could open up, and of course, the arty took credit for every body recovered, but we could count how many bodies were floating in the river when we pulled out. The next day in the orderly room an officer with a literary bent announced my entrance with "Behold, the Iceman cometh." For those of you unfamiliar with Eugene O'Neil, the Iceman was Death. I hated that name, but I couldn't shake it.

Point is, they get picked for you. You don't pick your own.

Min is a top-tier tomboy girl but I always like the Aiel that Mat shacks up with as they're moving to Cairhien. Shame about her being a Darkfriend because their relationship seemed to be built on a mutual respect for one another, which is rare in the series.

He intentionally set up a rule where Damane could not be used for sex. But in reality, we know a slave would eventually get used for sex.
All the Forsaken are pretty. When Selene showed up. I know Selene would be evil. I could see the trope coming.

RJ definately gave the forsaken more personality, the good guys are law abiding boring nerds. Especially the White Tower.

Nynaeve is as much a mother to the main boys as she is a sister, I can't even imagine either party harboring romantic feelings for one another.

Mat's relationship with Tuon felt more like a political marriage than anything else. Hell one of the only reasons he pursued her was because he knew he was destined to, rather than any sort of genuine affection.
It's funny because Tuon is the dedicated loli of the series when you think about it. She's what, 16 when Mat captures her and flees Ebou Dar or whatever the fuck city it was?

>>
>>722667482
Nah the next bit is the important bit
>And, to tell you the truth, by that time maybe it fit. I have, or used to have, a photo of a young man sitting on a log eating C-rations with a pair of chopsticks. There are three dead NVA laid out in a line just beside him. He didn't kill them. He didn't chose to sit there because of the bodies. It was just the most convenient place to sit. The bodies don't bother him. He doesn't care. They're just part of the landscape. The young man is glancing at the camera, and you know in one look that you aren't going to take this guy home to meet your parents. Back in the world, you wouldn't want him in your neighborhood, because he is cold, cold, cold. I strangled that SOB, drove a stake through his heart, and buried him face down under a crossroad outside Saigon before coming home, because I knew that guy wasn't made to survive in a civilian environment. I think he's gone. All of him. I hope so. I much prefer being remembered as Ganesha, the Remover of Obstacles.
>>
>>722667890
Isn't Min the main girl? She's the one that's around Rand the most and kept him sane for long enough, while the rest of them were doing their girl power adventures.

Honestly if you were gonna make one of the chosen your sex slave Moghedien is really the best one, she's a massive coward, but also a kinda gothy, all the other ones are to smart, like the blonde one would legit wait hundreds of years for you to let your guard down and have you as a piece of furniture.
>>
>>722667890
Yes. The point was to give each major faction legitimacy through his bloodline. Min goes with Mat to the Seanchan, Elayne in Andor, and Avi in the Aiel lands. Nobody can claim primacy based on having his blood.
>>
>>722668048
It's funny to me that Rand literally fell to Min's sexual teasing after having already slept with Avin AND having been courting Elayne prior.
Min's tight tomboy ass and high-heeled boots were literally too powerful for the Dragon Reborn to resist.

Birgitte is clearly best girl, so write that down
>“The Stone of Tear,” Birgitte said, and Nynaeve’s head whipped around. The woman no longer sounded intoxicated at all. “He says he went into the Stone, him and Juilin, to free the pair of you from a dungeon you couldn’t escape on your own.” She shook her head slowly, in wonder. “I don’t know that I would have done that for anyone short of Gaidal. Not the Stone. He says you gave him a backhanded thanks and made him feel he ought to be grateful you didn’t kick him.”
>It was true, in a way, but all distorted. There Mat had been with that mocking grin of his, saying he was there to pull their chestnuts off the fire or some such. Even then he had thought he could tell them what to do. “Only one of the Black sisters was on guard in the dungeon,” Nynaeve muttered, “and we had taken care of her.” True, they hadn’t yet been able to figure out how to open the door, shielded. “Be’lal wasn’t really interested in us, anyway—it was just to lure Rand. Moiraine may already have killed him, by then, for all we know.”
>“The Black Ajah.” Birgitte’s voice was flatter than the floor tiles. “And one of the Forsaken. Mat never mentioned them. You owe him thanks on your knees, Elayne. Both of you do. The man deserves it. And Juilin, as well.”

>Bitchy
Not really, bitchy is generally reserved for older women. Taash is pretty much a teenager, so any talking back is pretty normal
>Annoying
The most
>Female
Well, she'd argue but yes.

Taash is more annoying because she is just the self insert of a 30-something white woman from LA who thinks that discussions about gender dysphoria and non-binary identifications should exist in a dark fantasy universe that is on the edge of oblivion because of ancient elven gods who want to kill everyone and make them slaves again.

It sorta reminds me of the "Bigot Sandwiches" line from TLoU2, which makes no sense to care about in a post apocalyptic universe. The difference is that was one line and ultimate TLoU was about more than that. Taash's entire character is just being a special snowflake.

Lastly: She is definitely the youngest member of the group yet is the most sexually aggressive by far. The game has a nudity toggle and I am pretty sure it is ONLY for her scene. She is also the most sexual and attempts to fuck you the second you tell her you're attracted to her. She is ALSO, as far as I know, the only character who actually changes dialogue depending upon YOUR gender, which I actually give credit for since no other game seems to do that. My point is, though, is that some weirdo writer wrote a sexual fantasy about a teenage girl that is hyper-sexual and turns out to be non-binary.
>>
>>722667524
All 3 of the girls are tomboyish to greater or lesser degrees, with Elayne being the most girly but still being somewhat tomboy, Aviendera being a literal warrior woman and Min being a classical tomboy
That said, another important part of the arcs of all 3 of them is them becoming self consciously more girly as they fall more and more for Rand
I think Jordan had a type

It's not that they couldn't be used for sex, it was just considered something that well-adjusted people don't do like incest or bestiality (in other words, there probably plenty of people banging their damanes on the dl).
>>
>>722669853
If I can collar someone then that means I can channel. Who cares about women when I can be Gandalf?
>>
>>722670136
The damane collars explode violently when they're placed on a male. There's only the weird three person gettup that works on Saidin, and that goes both ways and eventually the collared person takes over.
>>
>>722665203
what made books 7-10 a slog is that Jordan increased the time in between books from 1 year to 2 years, and since some of the books would skip a character if you liked Matt for instance you ended up having to wait 4 years after one book ended in a cliff hanger for him. And considering what hacks like JRRMartin and Rothfuss have done to the genre that seems really seems like we over reacted to that. Regardless now that the books are all written they're substantially easier to get through and plenty of stuff still happens in them
>>
>>722670249
Idk doesn't one book in it's entirety take place in one day

I also don't like how the ADams don't work cross genders. (Yes I know the domination bands exist but it's a one off).
I guess the BDSM stuff would be too much for a mostly non sexy fantasy world. Like instead of lobiotimising the channeler men , they could get collared to Sedais to keep them from going insane.
>>
>>722671197
Yes. Wheel of Time is great, I've grown to like it more as I've gotten older rather than less. Robert Jordan was an author had had Seen Some Shit, and Been In The Shit. Capitalization intended. And that informs his writing a lot, and gives his action scenes some real gravitas that other authors who have never really experienced The Shit simply can't replicate.

the only book that's still really sloggy imo is Winter's Heart, the previous two have enough major stuff still happen that they're well worth it but Winter's Heart is still definitely the low point of the series given that it's mostly the characters who weren't doing important stuff reacting to Rand's major event of the previous book. But man if I were given the keys to a tv adaptation of the books one of the few major changes I'd make would be to wipe out the Shaido completely at Dumais Wells and just completely cut out the Perrin/Shaido plot cause it does not get ANY better on the reread

This is missing the fact that the Twilight series was 95% nothing fucking happening and all the horror creatures being the absolute lamest and gayest versions of themselves imaginable. You would still have to get by on chapters and chapters of little more than Billy Swan and Elizabeth Cullen doing little more than making moony eyes at each other, while Elizabeth Swan has no real vampire powers beyond super strength, she's a "vegetarian vampire" which means she mainly feeds on animals and she sparkles in the sun which is only bad because it would (somehow) give away the existence of vampires. And the whole time Billy Swan just kind of fucking sits there while the whole world revolves around him and while they keep implying that something MIGHT happen and maybe they'll get attacked by the Vampire Vatican or the werewolves or some combination therein, nothing ever ever EVER happens while you just get to see Billy sighing and making eyes at Elizabeth Cullen and Jessica Black, but not even fucking them because the author is a Mormon.

I'm currently obsessed with using AI to make fantasy stories with myself as the protagonist. Mostly smut but occasionally something more serious.
>>
All the dreamwalking shit got really old by the end. Perrin having an anime "teleports behind you" fight was fucking stupid
Rand almost completely losing it and going insane was great
Mat was a little too goofy at the end, but I can't hate it, he's too cool
>>
>>722674646
>fuck, I love evil women
Thats what I keep saying.
The evil women in the series are the most attractive because they have this unhingedness to their personality.

I got Sudowrite to make me a fantasy story where I'm a young peasant boy who goes into a forest and a (female) cupid shoots me with their bow, which puts me under her spell, and then she rapes me and turns me into her sex slave. I didn't know I enjoyed femdom until this.

I spend a lot of time with LLMs, usually local hosted by my own hardware. I had a similar run recently as a slave to a noblewoman cultist who is several centuries old by then. The AI brought in a black priest who tries to strong-arm her into sacrificing me for being cultless, with an angle I (IRL) thought clever, but instead of speaking for her or arguing for my way of weaseling out of the trap, I kept to the quiet, head-bowed slave act, and the mistress went through an absolute woman moment, risking war with the church, to defend me. It was sweet and very humorous, and I was glad to let her make things happen instead of guiding it.

>>
>>722675853
Good idea, also Ter'angreal buttplug that gets bigger by like a centimeter every day.
>>
>>722675625
It's good, but it requires you to have a somewhat coherent idea of where you want the story to go for it to generate good writing. What's good about it is that it's completely tailored for writing fiction, so you create entries for characters/lore/items, etc. It's also good for memory reasons, it will actually analyse your lore every time it makes new content so nothing contradicts (though it will occasionally make mistakes). ChatGPT is fucking awful for writing fiction because it doesn't hold your manuscript in memory so it will constantly generate writing that contradicts earlier chapters, not to mention it's so painful to edit things.
>>
>>722675853
Speaking of ter'angreal, I found it hilarious how in the books they are these one-of-a-kind artifacts that could take years to figure out how they work, and in the one and only WoT game they turned them into literal ammo you use to Balefire-jump like it's fucking Quake.
>>
>>722675901
Didn't Rand swap to a new body or some shit to dodge getting killed at the end? I literally think I was in a fever state reading the last book, I can't remember a single fucking specifico thing about it
>>
Also add to that Moghedien is so rapable that even fucking Satan raped her a bit using his own personal avatar.
>>
>>722676282
Yes, he ended up in Moridin's body in the end. Which just makes this extra funny.
>>
>>722676053
How much memory does it have? I had a pretty large story going on on NovelAI at one point but the 8k Memory Tokens made it pretty much impossible to keep going after a point.

>>722676282
Yeah, he traded bodies with Moridin because their souls were intertwined because they crossed Balefire piss streams earlier in the series. Since Moridin was such a doomer faggot that desired oblivion, and Rand desperately wanted to live, their souls swapped bodies after getting out of the Pit.
>>
>>722671159
I must say, I honestly liked Egwene. Her bitchiness is endearing, and it was hilarious how they almost crashed before the Last Battle because she and Rand couldn't accept each other. You could really feel that only old flames can bicker like that. "Egwene DESTROYs Tower Aes Sedai with facts and logic" arc was fun too, even if a bit cringy.

Though I also chortled during her death scene, because I remembered how in this very book she was all like "I am going to live for centuries and see your culture crumble!" to Tuon.

Yeah, he DGAF about going mad, so pretty much everything he does with the power is tapped straight from the dark one. He was Ba'alzamon/Ishamael, and completely insane during the first three books, he really thought he was the dark one until Rand actually killed him the third time. He gets a vacation for half the series before the Dark One sticks him into The Moridin body, which is about as tall and handsome as Rand is.

WoT is way better at doing fantasy than Harry Potter and Game of Thrones.

Thinking about it logically, Elan Morin Tedronai was such a brainlet. "Alright, I know the Dark One lost a thousand times a thousand (maybe infinite) turnings in the past, but I swear this one's going to be it, I feel it in my bones, now is the one turning where it makes sense to change sides". Yeah bro, sure.

One is a YA series that got a bunch of hit films and the other got popularized by a hit tv show. HP is carried by a generation's worth of nostalgia and GoT was the first show of it's kind. I doubt most people who have watched either have read the books. Also 7 books is more palatable to most than 14. The biggest issue is that the WoT show is absolute trash and was the series' one shot at becoming a household name

TV shows and movies are what makes shit hugely popular with normies.
Harry Potter had (for the most part) good movies. The books were popular with kids but it only became huge when the movies released.
Game of Thrones was a very good tv show until the last season. No normie read these books.

Wheel of Time had one of the worst tv show adaptations ever made. The people who wrote the show hated the source material and did everything they could to turn it into a girl power fantasy while sidelining the main character. They butchered the plot and they raceswapped characters to force diversity.

The Wheel of time adaptation was unfortunately adapted during the peak of the "woke" era. If it was made 15-20 years ago it would have possibly been a lot better.

1) The first half of the first book being discount fellowship of the ring (because one cunt of a publisher tried his best to ruin fantasy forever in the 60s,) makes it come into its own quite late.
2) WoT has the great slog that forms a massive roadblock to readers who just got past the best part of the series
3) Any adaption has an uphill battle from day 1, since it's fucking gigantic and nobody wants to take the risk of being locked into a failed show. It's what prevented an animated adaption back in the day. Amazon only did it because they were siphoning money for building projects and listing them in the budget.

To contrast, HP is an easily digestable Dahl style series that expands with its audience and got a fairly decent adaption, and ASOIAF rode the wave of edge fantasy then got an adaption that only started to suck once it had pulled in normalfags that didn't care until it went full retard.

Sanderson just sucked. There were still some good moments but the dream world teleporting fights, his new Asha'man OC who takes the spotlight off all the guys we already know, Mat's big change in tone at least in TGS, bloodknife terangreal. Just all bad. I think Talmanes fighting the Band's way out of Caemlyn was the only time I was fully on board.

I struggled through the second season to see if the first season was a Covid casualty and that season finale was the final fucking straw for me, Rand using the power to kill the Seanchan blademaster instead of the sword, Egwene freeing herself from the a’dam relegating Nynaeve completely irrelevant while Elayne wasn’t even in the fucking story, Rand big duel with Ishamael in the sky being reduced to fighting him on a pillar WITH FUCKING HELP from Egwene and Morraine having to ultimately save the day, don’t think any adaptation has ever left me that literally furious before

A lot of his success boils down to fantastic timing. He continued to be a workhorse when a lot of fantasy authors just stopped working for absolutely no reason, which made him one of the few big names that actually had new releases.
This put him in good stead when the publishing industry decided to implode, since he genuinely is a lot better than the vast majority of "fantasy" authors being pushed nowadays.
He also benefitted massively from the audiobook boom, since he's seen as great value for money and good narrators can smooth over a lot of faults.

The 'any slaver can rape someone else's slave on the road' seems like the sort of rule that would lead to a lot of death, and a large economic loss since most people would leave slaves at home. My wife could not understand why I was so fucking upset that they just had Rand nuke this guy with the One Power.
At this point in the story Rand is still actively resisting channeling, and actively fighting against being named the Dragon Reborn. He doesn't want glory, or power, or anything like that; he just wants to go back home and forget all of the chaos he has found on his journey. His decision to face the Seanchan with just a sword is a representation of all of this resisting, fuck Rand even notices the guy has a heron-marked blade and practically shits himself as his own heron-marked blade is from his father and Rand doesn't even know if he can stand toe-to-toe to this guy, but he still refuses to channel.

In most cases, it goes something along the lines of:

They're writing this slop with AI now?

Isn't 'everyone gets their job back after the strike' a standard bedrock union demand?

There's an easy way to cope with the series, anon.
It's called I have won again, Lews Therin
Seriously, it explains the entire thing perfectly.

>WoT series is my favorite GOAT books
>literally never seen a second of the shit globohomo show
>all the good memories and visualizations of the books intact
Feels good. Why anyone who read the books would willingly watch that trainwreck of a wokeslop adaptation is beyond me. You had to know there was literally zero chance it was going to be good as soon as the casting dropped.

Literally every single piece of information I've heard about how the show depicted anything from the books, from the main cast to the girlboss Aiel, sounds like a complete raping of the subject matter.

>It wouldn’t, conquering and bringing nations in line was a major part of the prophecies he had to fulfill in order to unite the world for the Last Battle

I can have my Rand teleport into the castles of these kings and Naruto talk no jutsu them. Or pull them in tellarranrhiod.

I guess RJ just wanted the story to be edgy

Idiotic strikes that screw over their lower members in favor of the top few percent is a proud SAG/SWG tradition anon, just google how the Hollywood strike screwed over writers and read the write up on it, the fact that it’s ai generated makes it that much more ironic

>>
>>722692525
playing doubles advocate, it seems more like Davis always wanted the show to be the way it is now, but previously had to work within the mandate of making a show people might actually want to watch.
>>
>>722692701
Pretend the show doesn’t exist, it’s up there for some of the worst adaptation of existing material ever made. Plus it’s been canceled thank god

RTD has been extremely open in his interviews that he’s more interested in pushing his faggotry message than actually writing good material now

Read the books.
Though keep in mind that they were originally published under the del ray mandates, which required every fantasy book to rip off tolkien before it was allowed to come into its own

Del Ray wanted everything fantasy to follow the Lord of Rings format, it why fantasy as a genre was in such a dumpster for about 30 years, fortunately Jordan said fuck it and started doing what he wanted to do about half way through the first book
>>
>>722694548
What's the Lord of the Rings format?
Farmboy gets tasked with a great quest to save the world, assembles a party, and off they go?
>>
>>722693921
You should lick her butt and run away before she notices and turns around.
>>
>>722694913
It was a very shallow approximation of lord of the rings, i.e it always starts off in a small village, a wise character visits and disaster strikes, the main character and some plucky friends go off on adventure, the heroes get split up and ultimately the hero wins.
Usually once a series got off the ground they got some leeway to be creative.

I read up to 80% of book 1 before I lost my phone. Does RAT actually get a harem, or is it a "harem" in the anime sense ala dense mofo mc despite 3 girls throwing themselves at him? Last I remember the main cast got separated, and he was stuck with the moralistic woman while his love interest was in a different group.
>>
>>722694913
Partly, also wise elder magic user(Gandalf/Moraine), old grizzled sword wielding ranger type(Aragorn/Lan), corrupting magical item(one ring/ruby hilted dagger), being pursued by dark forces(Nazghul and Orcs/half men and Trollocs ),etc. If the story has non humans they’ll be your big standard elves and dwarves, etc

Starting with Sword of Shannarah, which was a blatant Lord of the Rings knockoff, Judy and Lester Del Ray spent about 30 years heavily promoting anything that was close enough to LotRs as it sold well as paper back trash novels, it’s largely why Fantasy has such a bad reputation for so long

>>722696139
I always used to find it funny how far goodkind crawled up his own ass, but I assume he just got a massively inflated ego from being deemed good enough to break out of the del ray mould.
It's possibly an even worse indictment that the publishers gave so little oversight once an author got momentum that they allowed shit like the demon chicken or moral clarity to pass.

Full Harem. They’re all happy with it, though it takes a while to smooth things out since one of them was originally trying to wingman for her friend and ended up fucking him first.
That said, the first few books have a running joke about each of the three boys thinking the others would know what to do about women they’re attracted to while dropping their spaghetti.
>>
>>722696965
>moral clarity
???
>>
>>722687692
Wait, Loial came back in the show without any explanation?
>>
>>722698930
There’s an infamous scene where a group of pacifist protestors get slaughtered and Richard’s only thought is how their lack of moral clarity was no match for his sword.
In context they were deliberately trying to prevent him from stopping the villain, but it’s a case where they were very clearly written in just to be killed rather than provide any genuine conflict.
>>
>>722699358
I'm almost curious to read that bit now, it sounds like a nice counter to the constant "you can't kill the villain (but you can slaughter henchmen) because then you'll be as bad as him".
>>
>>722667993
Genuinely, this one quote is the reason I started reading Wheel again after abandoning it two books in as a kid. Absolutely chilling.
>>
>>722699312
Yep, and he came back from being stabbed by the dagger you typically don’t come back from, and then the fags killed him again in season 3 so the actor could go do broadway shot lol
>>
>>722700147
It's up to Season 3 already?
>>
>>722693740
I was a little lost in some places on first read. I understood more a second read.(I waited a while before doing a second read, so I wouldn't get burnt out on it)
>>
>>722700453
It's cancelled already. But yeah, they got 3 seasons pushed out before they were cancelled. Which I called all the way back before Season 1 was released. I said I was sure they already had a few seasons under contract, and when they're done, they'll get cancelled. That's exactly what happened.
>>
>>722700453
Been over for a minute, they promptly cancelled it after that, apparently they flat out killed off Siuan and Morraine so they were literally fucking up the source material right to the end, hilariously without Morraine it means the Dark One literally won in that timeline lol
>>
>>722687507
To be fair, it was heavily implied that Verin was Black Ajah at the end of the second book, because she flat out lies and tells the boys that Moiraine sent her to assist them when they set out after the horn, which is contradicted at the end of the novel.
>>
>>722701018
>>722701090
I thought it would never get cancelled cause it was Amazon's first huge fantasy series and Bezos' baby.

> without Morraine it means the Dark One literally won in that timeline lol
Remind me why? It's been a decade since I read the books.
>>
>>722699358
Goodkind's Randish bullshit becomes as intolerable as the leftist power fantasies later on
>>
>>722701390
Without Morraine the Dragons Peace falls apart meaning the last battle hits with the Nations a disorganized mess, Rand and the White Tower are actively at odds against each other, the Seanchan are not only not involved in the fight but are actively waging war against several nations, secondly Rand doesn’t have a second woman besides Nyneave with enough mutual trust whose available to link with him meaning he can’t use Kalimdor fully without losing control of it meaning he can’t win the fight in Shayul Ghoul
>>
>>722701390
The fact that it got 3 seasons upfront is a testament to Amazon's insane spending. Typically series don't get picked up for multiple seasons, unless their first season performs well. The fact that they began production on season 2 before 1 reached air, told me that they were throwing money at the thing.

But even so, the numbers don't lie. If they were getting watchers, they would have a season 4. They didn't meet Amazon's metrics, and so Amazon pulled the plug.
>>
>>722701390
The first season was made so they could siphon money from the budget to build a Czech studio. I assume similar shenanigans happened in the other two and when they stopped needing a front it got dropped.
>>
>>722701090
>Dark One literally won in that timeline lol

Show got cancelled. Meaning the Dark one absolutely destroyed that timeline.
>>
As soon as Jennifer Salke aka we have Kathleen Kennedy at home got fired I figured there was no way it was getting a 4th season, Rings of Power would probably also get cancelled but apparently they have to pay the Tolkien estate insane money if they cancel it early
>>
>>722702149
>Rings of Power
these people are so shit at writing women they make Sauron the reasonable one in the duo
>>
>>722701760
>leftist power fantasies
I thought that series was infamous for being a right-wing libertarian power fantasy
