Silksong or Hollow Knight, which game is better?
>>
I had post-great-game depression after HK, but not SS
I think it's because I found SS very frustrating a lot of the time
>>
>>722663643
Lol u should get good
>>
theyre both around a 6.5/10, albeit the reasons for each differ slightly. i know this is /v/ and no one plays games, but id suggest you spend your time on better games. if you really think there are worth talking about 24/7, i think r/silksong might be more your speed.
hope this helps!
>>
>>722661860
Hk, not even close. Ss is an overblown dlc.
>>
>>722661860
HK: 6/10
Silksong: 0/10
>>
>>722661860
Hollow Knight. Silksong is mechanically flawed.
It's still a 8/10, mind you.
>>
>>722661860
I consider them the same game. Silksong really only makes sense if you play it as a continuation of HK but asking which is better is like asking which chapter in a book is better. They're part of the same whole and I think Hollow Knight is better because of Silksong, and Silksong obviously can't stand without HK.

Exactly this. I beat HK twice, the second time after all the DLC.
I shan't be returning to Silksong.

heh, nothing personnel

The one you enjoy more

Hollow Knight is better. It’s balanced and paced a lot more coherently than SS. SS has better movement, animations, atmosphere, art and music but it falls short in almost every gameplay aspect.
>>
Hollow Knight is much better than Silksong.

I just requested a refund for Silksong. I'm really not enjoying it.
>>
I'm a bit late and started ss today. It seems much harder on the start than hk
>>
HK has better ambiance and since it's a lot more compact, you get blasted with great content back to back.
>Kick False knight's ass
>Kick Hornet's ass
>Get treated to the Mantis Lords, one of the best fights centered around literally nothing but jumping and dashing
>Get treated to Soul Master
>Get treated to Dung Defender
>City of Tears, Crystal Caves, and Deepnest still evoke the feelings they did the first time you got there
>Absolutely KINO finale

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Silksong for the 70 something hours it sucked out of me, but replaying HK shows it was a better game-experience. Silksong is too spread out, the music's more forgettable, the backgrounds aren't as detailed. The entirety of Act 3 is "That part" for Silksong.

You're trying too hard
>>
>>722661860
Silksong is better in literally every way.
>>
Hollow Knight was praised for its worldbuilding, it's atmosphere, memorable bosses and it's charm. It developed a devoted, autistic following because of those things. Its major criticisms were slow movement and lackluster combat.
Silksong on the other hand made movement and combat extremely fast and indepth. However, the worldbuilding was a less interesting rehash, the atmosphere was not as immersive with a worse OST, and the bosses were extremely boring with 2 or 3 exceptions.

And btw for people who claim the music is just as good, it isn't. Choral Choir is the only somewhat memorable track in the entire game. Whereas in HK you have
>Greenpath, City of Tears, Soul Sanctum, Crystal Peak, Nightmare King Grimm, Path of Pain, Sealed Vessel, etc
I can't remember a single fucking OST from Silksong, especially not a boss track, besides Bellhart and Choral Choir and mostly only because you're in those zones so long.

It seems obvious to me that HK was an original idea with love and care. SS is exactly what it is; a DLC turned sequel. The only new ideas come in the form of movement and combat. They kept adding zones and zones and zones to the point where tedium overrides fun and you wouldve had the exact same experience if they cut 1/3 of the game out.
Everything else is Dirtmouth-but-weavers.
>Remember worms? Here's fleas
>Remember the pale king? Here's grandmother queen
>Remember how hollow knight went into the abyss to beat the secret boss?

If team cherry ever does decide to make another game I hope it's an entirely new IP. SS completely missed what made HK so popular in the first place and I would be hesitant to go into yet another bug-game if we're going down the dark souls plot recycling hole

hollow knights best aspect are its bosses, which, some filler and disappointing ones aside, are some of the best boss fights in modern gaming

one of the worst aspects of hollow knight was how shit the knight felt to move around, which made exploring the fuckoff huge map and just getting from A to B very tedious

silksong improves on movement massively; hornet is much faster and more agile, and as such getting around is much better

however, silksongs bosses are a huge letdown compared to hollow knight. the overall ratio of good:bad fights is much worse and even among the good fights, there's nothing that comes close to hollow knight's best

so the games are kind of inverses of each other. HOWEVER, while silksong does have better movement, it fails to ever really utilise it. there are no seriously challenging platforming gauntlets (the games platforming sections are relatively simplistic and highly repetitive with regard to their trickiest jumps) and not a single bossfight requires you to approach it any differently than you would with a hollow knight moveset. clawline helps for closing gaps, but even that has limited utility in boss fights, because - since the bosses are still designed like hollow knight bosses - youre encouraged to stay close anyway since they teleport and quick dash so much. the moveset feels at its best in gauntlets, but that alone isnt enough to stop one of the games best aspects feeling sorely underutilised.

therefore, hollow knight is better. they both have their flaws though; ignore reddit fanboys who tell you otherwise

The worst Silksong Boss is better than the best Hollow Knight Boss.

I'm not going to finish Silksong.
Why did hornet get an abortion in-game?
>>
>>722661860
Silksong is so much better this isn't even a competition. On a whim 2 years ago I dusted off HK after not playing it for 3 years and easily did a steel soul run. Didn't even need quit out strats because the game is so simplistic that even rusty no death was not a challenge. The same can't be said of silksong steel soul. I can't see myself being able to come back to silksong in 3 years and easily completing a steel soul run.

>>722661860
2 different games with different feels for me.
But I do prefer SS.

Silksong is the better game
Hollow Knight is the better experience
>>
>>722661860
Atmosphere and content - HK easily.
Gameplay - actually SS.

You find it in Bilewater than if you talk to the witch in the Shellwood she injects it into you. After you suppress it it becomes one of your crests and replace Bind with tape tentacles

>>722668597
Sherma gives her the bugs
>>
>>722668835
Oh, I've been to Bilewater but nothing like that happened.
Sounds dumb.

>>722668847
Who?
>>
>>722668627
I think Silksong is the better game and the better experience. I enjoyed HK when it came out but I didn't think it was anything special just a particularly big Metroidvannia. So I didn't really care about Silksong, I was one of the people meming it as vaporware. But actually playing it's everything I thought the original should be. Like the original feels really hollow in places, while Silksong feels like every place that the original would gloss over is a real place with unique enemies and bosses and quests and then some.

My refund got accepted for Silksong even tho I had like 20 hours in the game.
I think they're getting a lot of refund requests for this game.
>>
>>722669294
>It's well hidden.
It really isn't, I stumbled onto it completely by accident (from above) when I wasn't even trying to go to Bilewater.
>>
>>722668907
The pin attack is awesome and it has three blue slots. It would be my favorite Crest if not for the Rape Tentacles replacing bind being kind of awkward to use since you can very easily be interrupted
>>
>>722669617
Well I had to look up a guide because I couldn't be fucked going back to bile to check kek.
>>
Hornet's controls and skills feel better to use, but going through shitty gauntlet roadblocks, shitty gathering quests and sniffing the lost nigga quest over and over is boring as fuck.
>>
>>722663643
Completely in reverse for me.
