Part 2 came out recently and no one even noticed Did you like it?
>>722663508Is the level design better than the first episode? I spent half the time there pixel hunting for headshots.
>>722663580Maps are huge but not as detailed. There's forced spooky segments.Eh, it's alright.
>>722663580It has some great maps, but also it has 2 big maze like maps which are not really good. Seems like dev is going to add auto-map with next update to fix any confusion on them.It seems this chapter really tried to explore its horror part: mansion, cargo ship and etc.
>>722663508So what's with a story? First game hinted that it was some interdimensional parasite, now it seems like some cosmic power.
>>722664069It's pretty much both. The final boss is literally a RE tyrant Except now John you are the parasite. I liked the horror segments though, the apartments in the 1st level was a nice little tense moment. Hate the spiky hand fucks that charge at you. Always think I've killed em all but then there's one behind trying to fist you. And the mud zombies can fuck off, literally only serve to eat up sten ammo.
>>722664421>spiky hand fucksYeah, they are annoying, especially the buffed one.
>>722663508Yes, I'm aching for more spooktober games
>>722664421>And the mud zombies can fuck offThey're aching for Dynamite. I've noticed that some enemies are more vulnerable to certain weapons than others, like you can stun Adepts with Sawnoff
>>722665436Adepts and the armored police dude are just molotov magnets. Same with brutes and devourers but instead I attach a dynamite to the molotov for that extra spice.
>>722665821Setting things on fire is extremely effective in this game (hell, it literally melts the last boss) but you can't do it every time or else you'll run out when you really need it
>>722665940Yeah no joke. Molotov and the napalm launcher really made the final boss and the mutated chopper fights easy on the hardest difficulty. More so the last boss, melts his armor and then feed him buckshot directly in his chest from a foot away.
Is TNT and Molotov combo worth it? Seems like molotov is enough to kill anything big.
i played part 2 and i didnt care for it as much as part 1.
>>722667646Well on the hardest difficulty molotov won't kill devourers and brutes instantly but with the tnt combo and like 1 shotgun blast it usually does. It's the only time I used the combo and even then its when the game likes to throw 2 brutes at you at the same time or when there's a devouredr or brute surrounded by 15 jumping zombies.
What happened to police guy after train station?
>>722668008he appears later to save the protag
>>722667975I see, I've only played it on Standard so my experience is different. Nice to know, tho
Whom the detective was looking anyway? Seems like he abandoned his assignment and decided to fuck cult up in a rage momentum.
I've just beaten the horde battle at the church and that took several tries. The riot cops having ungodly amounts of armour meaning molotovs are the only way to effectively fight them is a little bullshit.
>throw TNT to the juggernaut>he kicked it back to me
>>722663508yea its good. the train is great. I think most of the butthurt comes from the end of episode 1 which alludes to visiting the otherworld dimension instead it felt like an expansion to ep1>>722664069its both and never cleared upon>>722665436the armored minions like beefy cultist, chainsawers, armored cops and the big monsters are all vulnerable to fire. While they take shitton of ammo otherwise. in fact molotovs feels slightly OP with how powerful they are
how many chapters this getting? 3? not playing until it's out of EA
>>7226684912It was the final one.
>>722668491for now two is the final one. the ending is also very final for the detective
The fact that it often stutters and switching between fullscreen and borderless reduces this is maddening.
>>722668686Never happened to me
I'm going to spoiler this deliberately but you can find one of the crystal skulls, the one that perma increases health, in the other dimension mall. Where you have to find the ghosts to get out I missed it like two times in a row since another secret is in the same place in the main world
>>722668798Yeah, missed that one too
>>722668051I think the train station is the last time the police guy shows up. But it was a pretty kino scene. I like how you can kinda tell the police guy isint imbued like the detective because his jump is alot lower and slower and he dosent throw objects as hard.>>722668798It's the only secret in the game that if you miss in the level you can't go back to later in the level. And I guess also the bunker level If you used the soap bar to kill an enemy instead of using it to break the mirror to find the secret in the bathroom.
>>722670375>And I guess also the bunker level If you used the soap bar to kill an enemy instead of using it to break the mirror to find the secret in the bathroom.Level has two bars, plus one in the bathroom respawns after a while.
>>722670469Oh neat never saw a 2nd one and didint know they respawned. Been a few times where I had the soap bar in hand before a big fight quicksaved and reloaded in only for it to have disappeared. Would have helped to know it respawns.
>>722663808wasnt cargo ship in the last chapter as well? dev loves boats
>>722668798The train level also has secrets that if you miss you cant go back for i forgot about that one.
>>722668337Oh brother, this isn't even the hardest fight where you get ambushed by waves of enemies
how about no
>>722672047is the protagonist 2 feet tall?
>>722672082
has anybody used god mode to swim at the bottom of the near infinite seeming blood pit? Whats at the bottom of it?Its in the swamp level caves. The one you have to pass through in order to activate power to the switch that opens the gates to the actual swamps>>722670469>>722670682one bunker hidden secret is in a off branch sewage pipe outlet at the start of the pipe platforming section. It has the keycard that opens the elevator doors that seem to be out of order at first
>>722663508Cool, 20 more years and the game might be finished
Is it any fun?, i have a policy of not touching incomplete / early access games.
I slept on the SASG and regretted it, but I couldn't find any use for the revolver. The lever action rifle holds more bullets (11 when fully upgraded) and seems to be more accurate. It has a rapid fire mode but the revolver seems to have one also.
>>722673150it's ok
>>722672082You can crouch super low in this game. It's more like crawling using your knees and elbows but much faster.>>722673093>>722673150It's finished. The dev said there'd be two chapters and now the second chapter is out. $20 for a good 15 hour FPS seems like a good deal to me.
>>722673305>>722673424oh, so this one completes it then, alright will look into it then, thanks.
>>722672990I think it just starts looping after a while. I remember seeing the same wall texture repeat in same geometry
>>722671528I've beaten the game and this was the hardest fight. Don't know, what are you talking about.
>>722668656unless he destroys hell, dies and then ascends to heaven Im not sure any ending could be definitive
>>722663508maybe because its a separate 10 dollar purchase and not an actual update
>>722668656There could be a spinoff or sequel featuring the unknown character who helps the detective in the train yard. But if they do, I hope they improve that character's acrobatic skills. They're slow and have a very low jump.
>>722663508i dont play games that arent finished. still waiting for hrot too
>>722672990It's Severance easter egg Pretty neat
>>722673964Nigger, that's literally the cop from interlude. He doesn't jump as high because he wasn't affected by the will.
>>722665109this just came out and its pretty fun
>>722674096>what if we put resident evil on the 3do
>>722674039Really? I was thinking that cop died for some reason.
>>722663508I'm waiting for a sale.Part one was one of the best boomer shooters, but I hear this one isn't quite as good.I don't like the trend of maps getting bigger and bigger. You see it in quake map packs - people like making their sprawling levels with 700 enemies and 47 secrets, but something like coffee quake with 5 minute levels is much better.
>>722668236He was investigating multiple murders and missing people. Cops pulled him out of the case so he went to investigate by himself, got fucked up by the cultists and thrown into a open grave. Them he survived and decided to share the love.
>>722673964Could work if the policeman also gets imbued like the detective did. You also find a note in the later levels where the head priest guy explains that the tears to the other reality or whatever are all connected like tunnels and thats how the cult was moving around. So you could have a 2nd game where the policeman is trying to destroy either what remains of the cult or its new leader who found another way to bring "the will" into the world.
>>722673798well yeah. its implied the detective is tied to the supernatural so as soon as someone opens the connection again he will rise from the grave>I LIVE..again on game note I really like the axe in cultic. one of the few times melee weapon feels powerful and good to use in a FPS game. With the slow-mo upgrade its great for scouting out rooms to by peaking in and out of them with time dilation
>>722674257happens all the time, same thing happened with Ashes 2063 where Afterglow was way bigger, to its detriment
>>722674257In chapter 2 the only big map I think is the fairgrounds one.
i just started it and beat the first two levels, holy shit are they bigi feel like you can also easily tell it's a one man team. the levels (both parts) can get somewhat repetitive
>>722674486but afterglow is universally praised as the better entry. But its mute point as Ashes Hard Reset is the best. Walkers character and the supernatural goes great together in the setting
>>722674484The weapons are amazingThere are so few FPS games where both the melee weapon and the first pistol are useful throughout the entire game
also on another note, the soundtrack for these games is great
>>722674538apparantly there's other map guy.
>>722674824putting left over health into the health back at half the value is also a innovation way more boom shoots need to copy
Regular shotgun vs double barrel?
>>722674214After the interlude you see where the cop's final battle took place but there's no blood or body where he blacked out.
>>722674484kek. just played city of the damned apocalypse (doom mod), as it got a remaster, a few days ago. Its got the Blood inspired survival horror down to the T but goddamn kept switching back to the melee weapon expecting to see the axe which to cleave heads off. The pitchfork aint really cutting it, despite being throwable
>>722675389Yeah, I just rewatched the fight and I guess I thought he died because the explosion at the end knocked him out.
>>722675107>>722674824Go and play selacoNOW
>>722675260double barrel has greater burst damage with double shot. Regular shotty is a must have against the final boss though. It cleaves through it as hard as the slam fire grenade launcher did for the boss of ep1. where you didn't even need to jump off of the starting platform
>>722673964Do you see who helps you?
>>722675532the tranny flag color scheme usage is a turn off though
>>722675451You actually play as the cop again for the train yard level. The detective's train pulls in and he's pinned down by a ton of cultists then it switches to the cop's POV and you clear the cultists out of the train yard and switch tracks from up in the tower so the detective's train and continue to where he was going.Pretty fucking KINO.
>mutated chopper
>Full auto FG is worse then StenWhat gives
>>722676439>laughs in slam fire china lake and molotovs
I kick every toilet to destruction. No cultist may shit in a civilised manner on my watch.
>full upgraded chinalake for final boss>only used Sten and auto-shotgun
