It's pretty much both. The final boss is literally a RE tyrant Except now John you are the parasite. I liked the horror segments though, the apartments in the 1st level was a nice little tense moment. Hate the spiky hand fucks that charge at you. Always think I've killed em all but then there's one behind trying to fist you. And the mud zombies can fuck off, literally only serve to eat up sten ammo.

They're aching for Dynamite. I've noticed that some enemies are more vulnerable to certain weapons than others, like you can stun Adepts with Sawnoff

Adepts and the armored police dude are just molotov magnets. Same with brutes and devourers but instead I attach a dynamite to the molotov for that extra spice.

Yeah no joke. Molotov and the napalm launcher really made the final boss and the mutated chopper fights easy on the hardest difficulty. More so the last boss, melts his armor and then feed him buckshot directly in his chest from a foot away.

Well on the hardest difficulty molotov won't kill devourers and brutes instantly but with the tnt combo and like 1 shotgun blast it usually does. It's the only time I used the combo and even then its when the game likes to throw 2 brutes at you at the same time or when there's a devouredr or brute surrounded by 15 jumping zombies.

I've just beaten the horde battle at the church and that took several tries. The riot cops having ungodly amounts of armour meaning molotovs are the only way to effectively fight them is a little bullshit.

I think the train station is the last time the police guy shows up. But it was a pretty kino scene. I like how you can kinda tell the police guy isint imbued like the detective because his jump is alot lower and slower and he dosent throw objects as hard.

It's the only secret in the game that if you miss in the level you can't go back to later in the level. And I guess also the bunker level If you used the soap bar to kill an enemy instead of using it to break the mirror to find the secret in the bathroom.

Oh neat never saw a 2nd one and didint know they respawned. Been a few times where I had the soap bar in hand before a big fight quicksaved and reloaded in only for it to have disappeared. Would have helped to know it respawns.

I slept on the SASG and regretted it, but I couldn't find any use for the revolver. The lever action rifle holds more bullets (11 when fully upgraded) and seems to be more accurate. It has a rapid fire mode but the revolver seems to have one also.

There could be a spinoff or sequel featuring the unknown character who helps the detective in the train yard. But if they do, I hope they improve that character's acrobatic skills. They're slow and have a very low jump.

Part one was one of the best boomer shooters, but I hear this one isn't quite as good.
I don't like the trend of maps getting bigger and bigger. You see it in quake map packs - people like making their sprawling levels with 700 enemies and 47 secrets, but something like coffee quake with 5 minute levels is much better.

Could work if the policeman also gets imbued like the detective did. You also find a note in the later levels where the head priest guy explains that the tears to the other reality or whatever are all connected like tunnels and thats how the cult was moving around. So you could have a 2nd game where the policeman is trying to destroy either what remains of the cult or its new leader who found another way to bring "the will" into the world.

on game note I really like the axe in cultic. one of the few times melee weapon feels powerful and good to use in a FPS game. With the slow-mo upgrade its great for scouting out rooms to by peaking in and out of them with time dilation

kek. just played city of the damned apocalypse (doom mod), as it got a remaster, a few days ago. Its got the Blood inspired survival horror down to the T but goddamn kept switching back to the melee weapon expecting to see the axe which to cleave heads off. The pitchfork aint really cutting it, despite being throwable

double barrel has greater burst damage with double shot. Regular shotty is a must have against the final boss though. It cleaves through it as hard as the slam fire grenade launcher did for the boss of ep1. where you didn't even need to jump off of the starting platform

You actually play as the cop again for the train yard level. The detective's train pulls in and he's pinned down by a ton of cultists then it switches to the cop's POV and you clear the cultists out of the train yard and switch tracks from up in the tower so the detective's train and continue to where he was going.

Pretty fucking KINO.
