what's with normies and their apathetic, tasteless approach towards vidya? can you blame big producers for releasing the same game over and over for 20 odd years, when the average dumbass in the street will still buy it? the problem doesn't lie in the companies, but in the customers which are too meek and stupid to know better, to WANT better.

People usually only have one or two main hobbies that they actually care about and everything else they just interact with on a surface level.

Sure, i care and know a lot about vidya, but my taste in music or anime or books is absolute shit to anyone on /mu/, /a/ or /lit/.

Normalfags will tailor their consumption around what they think is being enjoyed by other people.
The industry has tried to take full advantage of this by allowing normalfags to drag the core audience down to their level, whereupon the company can then use the core audience to keep the normalfags invested in a vicious cycle, because with nothing to play and no substantial audience playing older non-normalfag games, the core audience is continuously driven towards the normalfags.
The Xbone notably failed at this, since it just gave a full normalfag presentation to the core audience and the subsequent desertion of the core audience also resulted in the normalfags leaving to the other normalfag consoles.
Normalfags want what they are told to want.

>The problem doesn't lie in the companies, but in the customers which are too meek and stupid to know better, to WANT better.
The problem still lies with the companies, because it is marketing and big publishers that form the bucket that keeps us penned in with the crabs whom we pull back in with our very presence and who pull us back in by forming a much larger base of consoomers.

>the problem doesn't lie in the companies, but in the customers which are too meek and stupid to know better, to WANT better.
The problem is both. Publishers are complacent with making slop and not expanding the medium. Average Joe is complacent with slop because he doesn't know any better.
Which is why-
I want 300 dollar games.
I'm serious. I will happily pay 300 dollars for a game that's worth it.
Let me explain.
Average Joe doesn't give a shit about how shitty a game is because Average Joe doesn't know the difference between a good game and a shit one, he has ideas, but for the most part, he doesn't care. I know I'm right, because idiots buy Madden and Call of Duty every year, even though they're pretty much the same game with maybe shinier graphics.
The reason why they don't care, is because they don't pay 300 dollars for them. 80 dollars really isn't that much money, especially for something that you'll get hours worth of entertainment out of, but 300 dollars? That shit better be good.
I know what you're thinking "But anon, they'll just make the same game, nothing will change!" WRONG! 300 dollars is a lot of money for a game, and when Average Joe sees that price tag, he's going to say "Shit that's a lot of money! This BETTER be worth it!" and if it's not, they're not going to buy it again the next year.
If that's the case, one of two things will happen. 1) Better games will be made to warrant that price tag, or 2) the industry collapses, and the indie market fills the power vacuum.
I know, a lot of indie games suck, but there's some really good ones out there, more importantly they have new ideas, ideas that need to flourish.
So yeah, 300 dollar games, let's do it.

IDK people are starting to turn on taylor swift and rap music in general. Zoomer men are losing all of their aesthetic power as well as nobody even wants to appeal to them anymore. I am actually relatively optimistic about normies having some taste again like how it was in the 90's.
>>
>>722681789

>what's with normies and their apathetic, tasteless approach towards vidya?
Most people have limited time to play vidya.
Most people have limited time to look for vidya.

Most people would rather pick up a generic but somewhat fun game that will give a decent experience, over looking thru the trashbin and maybe finding an excellent game 1/10th of the time. If they're just going to buy and play one video game this year, then they're willing to go with a generic garbage experience as long as it's regularly fun over picking up a dozen games in hopes that one will be better than average. They don't have time to learn all the different genres or the minor differences between subgeneres or to play thru hundreds of games to determine exactly what sort of games they like more than others. They just want to spend their money and play a video game.

It's not surprising that they're more attracted to the AAA games with polished visuals and voice acting and generally passable gameplay. It's not surprising that they don't bother with Indie Pixel RPGMaker Adventure or with some wildly niche core mechanic in an unusual game that requires three hours of youtube tutorials before you can start understanding the mechanics.

It used to be goyslop but even without the kike paranoia it's true that they gave us lower quality products and everyone loves it. Easier games, paid content of stuff that was in the game before. Same game but more expensive being re-released. This is all slop.

pop science can be used to educate normies on topics they're too uninvested and ignorant to care about, yes that is a positive. but on the other hand, pop science discredits the authority of the scientific community and turns them into fame/clicks gloryhogs that throw integrity down the drain for the sake of notoriety. the nobel prize dealt the crippling blow and now channels like kurgewhatever are here to finish the job. not to mention the heavily politicized and often non neutral stance of most of them.
