ITT characters that should've never ever existed
Out of all characters I know, this one would be the one who deserves existence the least

Orbot and Cubot already had shades of this: they were created to serve as slapstick aides/people for Eggman to bounce off of, but instead mostly ate screentime to say a lot of nothing. Sage's purpose is humanizing Eggman and giving him cute moments, which is going to run contrary to efficacy for some scripts. She's also really fucking boring and is buddies with Sonic, which makes her a bit of a pain to write. Her first game did an awful job with her, so future games are either going to ignore her or have her ineffectively tag along and distract from the point of any given interaction.It's not like you can't get good use out of her, but the specific way she's designed narratively means she doesn't even work like Tails does for Sonic, where you can just ignore him when a story doesn't need him or even have the character do whatever. She's the bad kind of satellite character in a series that's already really bad at handling satellite characters.

For one you're assuming she'll be forced into everything when Metal Sonic, Orbot and Cubot haven't been for long stretches of games. For two, the generic Badniks and Egg Pawns have no higher programming and in Crossroads he treats the Egg Pawn like the mook it is.
