>>722698937The Choir sends out bugs to look for Weavers, could do it for other reasons too or he just happens to have ancestors who weren't Silk infused or maybe some people are just more naturally immune to it taking over
>>722698937>but the haunting is from the citadel injecting silk into its subjectsNo, it's not. When GMS arrived, she spread her silk across most of the kingdom and put a little bit of her silk into most bugs, connecting them to her and the bugs also passed it down so it kinda became a part of them. This connection to GMS is what caused the haunting.>but haunted bugs don't start raising until Hornet shows upThis is complete nonsense. The haunting began waaaaaaaay back. It's why the Weavers fucked off.

>>722699539Silk probably has a stronger connection to the Weavers because she personally uplifted them so maybe it was easier for to exert pressure on to them than it was for the other bugs until they started injecting more silk into themselves, I get the feeling the Citadel has been running as we see it for a reasonably long time that she can't have been mindcontrolling them the whole time
I'm at 99% and fought all the bosses outside of the abyss.Do the mementos, relics and materium count towards completion? I'm missing 1 relic, 4 materiums and these mementos.
>>722699995No, anon, you're misunderstanding the whole situation. The haunting isn't a deliberate mindcontrol on GMS's part. She wasn't mindcontrolling the bugs when she infused the bugs across the kingdom with her silk, she just connected them to her and maybe instilled a desire to worship in them. The haunting began after the Weavers sealed her.

>>722704935Maybe her ultimate goal was to force Hornet to be Lace's servant/silk backpack so she'd be able to leave Pharloom

Seth's not appearing anywhere after I killed Nyleth. Did I fuck up by accidentally leaving her for dead last? Her icon even disappeared from the map because I had 3 hearts already.
Pharloom? Shouldn't it be NEARloom?
>>722704935I admittedly have different standards for Silk as a character, because she's clearly meant to be a Radiance stand-in for the story, so by contrast her character has a lot more to read into than Radiance. While Radiance just has her hatred shown through the infection, Silk has that similar rage contrasted more with her motivation to keep lace safe, her control over bugs is shown to go beyond just mindlessly attacking others, and the contrast between how much she wanted to bring Hornet down with her to lending her power to Hornet at her lowest point. I deride Lace because she's competing with Hornet's character arc in Hollow Knight, which was simple but was tangible. Lace has no real character arc that's easily read, which only makes Silk's own character arc more poignant despite it being so simple.

>>722713654esikson
>>722713585>First Singer
>>722708505As far as I've pieced together, the Conductors are trying to keep Pharloom functioning after locking up GMS and they desperately need more silk. They can't use GMS' silk since a) she's locked up in gay baby jail, and b) she would mind control them. And yet, because of the need to have the Chorus operating 24/7, they need more silk to keep the city copacetic. So they send out members of the Chorus to kidnap Weavers to milk for silk in a vain effort to keep the city functioning. GMS is obviously still capable of creating more silk and creating more Weavers, so she'd have 0 reason to send out the Faithful to kidnap 1/4th or 1/8th weavers.

>>722709785Nigga the pogo hits ABOVE Hornet with Longclaw. The Silk has seeded deep into this kingdom's shells, generations deep...No wonder Pharloom's bugs proved such easy prey for that haunted thread. It had only to seek for itself to reach them.GMS didn't infuse the bugs with silk, dumbasses did it to themselves. That's more classic vassal shenanigans.
>>722715917From what I can tell, they did so long after GMS had been sealed. They were prey for The Haunting because they were trying to extend their lifespans to keep the Chorus going and accidentally polluted every other living creature in the kingdom making them easy prey when GMS' prison started falling apart. Did the Conductors know they were keeping GMS asleep? If so, why did they want that?I just can't remember.

There are surely other moths out there that decided to fuck off when the kingdom fell. The Seer is like those darkies that are old enough to remember Rhodesia and just sit around in the fallen Zimbabwe wishing the white men would come back and rule the place for them.
>>722715917NTA but>Also, the Weavers didn't leave because of the Haunting, they staged a falseflagThe Weavers that left were the ones from Weavenest Cindril and those ones left long long before any of that, but they did leave because of GMS, as per the Rune Harp you find there:>"Flee, sisters. Flee until your strength exhausts, so far you may escape at last her silken sight. To start anew, to sustain, free of web and service eternal."This dates from the time before the Weavers ruled, they weren't one unified group, there were factions trying to solve the GMS problem.Eva for example seems to have been an attempt to replace her with a God of their own making.

>>722717731AFAIK, he knew that Radiance was going to be mad, but he thought he could still win the fight. But then some of the bugs, like the Traitor Lord, started siding with the Radiance and turned the tides of the battle. Radiance more or less returned bugs back to nature by deleting the mind that Pale King had gifted them while also turning them into infectious zombies that spread the mind-deleting marmalade. It's more akin to what's happening in Africa right now where civilization is collapsing, causing refugees who flee to other countries causing them to collapse. All the natives are returning back to their pre-colonial tribal states

>>722717662You're looking at it the wrong way anon. We know GMS is the one kidnapping weavers, that's a fact, it's outright stated. >>722718206Thanks for the tip
>>722717891>The Pale King told them he'd be able to throw hands with the Radiance when he took over. It's not their fault that he's more bitchmade than the queen of floof. He did fight the Radiance off when taking over. That's how he ended up building up Hallownest. But she came back with the Infection, and the Traitor Mantises deliberately infected themselves and betrayed Hallownest to side with Radiance. >no no, ACTUALLY you won't all die because I failed to live up to my own hype, you'll just lose all your lands and be exiled to the ends of the Earth where none will likely ever be able to see you ever againThey weren't exiled, they just left the fallen kingdom like how the Weavers left Pharloom. Even if she's upset at the Weavers that would still piss her off.
>>722718443I can't say that I know because I'm still beating Hollow Knight but my fight against the, well, Hollow Knight, was basically pogo jumping on him since he had lots of horizontal attacks.

>>722718295The Cradle was being run by the Conductors too. That's GMS' prison, and it's why you need the Threefold Song to access it. Only Conductor Ballador knew his part of the Threefold Song by the time of the game, and thus only someone with the blessing of the Conductor could've brought the cages up to The Cradle. You could say they would come in from above, but the Choir goes through Blasted Steps rather than through Nameless Village. They were obviously heading for The Grand Gate which would've brought them right past High Halls where the Conductors are.

>>722718017scene plays the same (body goes "behind" the bridge) also yeah the bridge gets destroyed anyways on act 3
>>722718295The counterpoint is that there's no logical reason why or how she would be able to. Why would she even be after weaver-spawn? She doesn't need silk, she literally is Silk. Even if she did, the Haunting lets her control bugs instinctually, but she's not conscious enough to give them such detailed and written instructions. Even if she could, the bugs that were sent out to capture Hornet and the rest went far outside of Pharloom, way outside the range where Silk would be able to control them. The Conductors being behind it just makes more sense.

In the current vanilla end where you just go slap Grandmas shit we can see they fuse, but maybe we are supposed to understand that one as a fusion with Hornet coming out on top. >>722720350There's a reason it was cut, though. Obviously did not fit with the story.
>>722720150Sure they would. That slave caste did all sorts of shit. You can read the Oaths of Fealty, they sent tons of stuff as tithe to the Citadel.Pause to consider, we meet 3 weavers (apart from GMS) in Silksong. First Sinner, Widow, Eva. Not a god damn ONE of them is enslaved to produce silk. We don’t meet a single Weaver held in captivity in the Citadel hooked up to some silk production machine. You got the goddamn Unravelled living in 10 foot trash pit of waste silk in a hole at the bottom of an abandoned surgical ward, but I’m expected to believe silk supplies are so tight they need to capture Hornet to hook her up to some sort of milking machine?Nah. GMS wants her Weavers back. She’s salty that she got Parent Trapped into the big sleep and she’s planning to come back and ground some motherfuckers over it. She’s a God, the idea that a Weaver in eighth part isn’t “really her child” doesn’t track. All weavers are her children. Hornet is MAYBE an exception just because her other parent is a different Pale Being.
I do not understand why GMS needs Hornet. Even Hornet at one point says she has no ideea what the monarch wants to do with her lmao. Why exactly is she necessary? To witness her waking?
>>722720317>And the Bell Beast too. (BB had to have recently been silked in place since she's still very much alive when you free her)Does that mean GMS trapped bell beast there (and gave her a silk heart) to help Hornet on her journey to the cradle?

>>722720354The context of that quote was getting the silk heart from Lace so "A child born loyal" is referring to Lace
>>722720452 I agree. I think it should only serve as insight as to where Team Cherry’s head was at with several of their endings. While that variant of bad end got cut, I think it was probably cut because it rehashes effectively what you get out of the normal ending. The majority of the information brought to light there is still essentially in the game, just not in that way.

>>722706372But it's not like Hornet breaks the cocoon she just challenges it to a fight.
>>722721015 Yeah, but I think anyone who played game 1 should understand how this occurs. Sealing gods is a shit plan. It didn’t work on Radiance. It didn’t work on GMS in the Cradle. It didn’t work throwing GMS in the void. Sealing gods is a shit tier plan in the world of Hollow Knight.

>>722721127Shit tier plan in the long term sure, but for the short time those bugs got to live the good life
>>722721127>It didn’t work throwing GMS in the void.It would have worked eventually. That said the void isn't a seal, it devours gods, it doesn't seal them.
>>722721239 That’s the crux of the fuckup that groups like the Weavers or characters like the Pale King revolve around. They settled for the “Works for now.” Until eventually it didn’t work for shit, by then their options are either die, submit or bail.
>>722721363 You are right, yeah. The Void isn’t a seal. However I’d argue the retarded fuckin Snail Shamans don’t actually care about that and used it like one anyway. The idea was probably supposed to be that she’d die, not cocoon herself under the void sea me waterlogged with Void. It’s possible the Void couldn’t overpower GMS because she was holding together said cocoon to postpone Lace being absorbed by the dark, since GMS quietly uses herself and her cocoon both as fuel for Hornet’s post fight escape.
>>722721228Why do you say that? From what I gather, the Weavers used song to put her to sleep, that’s what the Conductors, choir, etc. were for. When the Weavers fucked off, the Conductors realized they were stuck, they had their foot on the proverbial landmine so they couldn’t move an inch. They had to keep the song going, even though the ones who wanted them to do it had all disappeared, because they knew how royally fucked they’d all be if GMS did fully awaken. As society deteriorated post-Weaver-exodus, the song weakened, and the bind on GMS weakened. This enabled her to create her new silk children, and those children (namely Lace) oversaw the further weakening of the old order to help her fully wake the fuck back up.They were bringing her Weavers and keeping them trapped in cages. They had an “enemies closer” approach, nobody was gonna come back around and strengthen the song again. Weavers were brought and bound via pins into servitude, like Widow, or kept fully chained like Sinner. The bells would be deadened, the gates would be sealed, new pilgrims barred entry, and the ones who remained would be forced to support the awakening because they now relied entirely on GMS for life because silk was the only thing keeping them ageless.
>>722721604I think the idea was that her power was running out, but pharloom would be dust by the time that happened, which is why Hornet's rushing to fix it now. The snails were hoping that it would be instant, not that the whole kingdom would be destroyed with her
>>722721750>the Weavers used song to put her to sleepProve that one and I'll believe whatever else it was you wrote
>>722721152bro... you're map markers...?
>>722721604It’s difficult to tell because void is void, but I always assumed when you see GMS in the void cocoon, she’s mostly black not because of the void, but because she’s threadbare. Her body is a giant silk spool and it’s almost entirely empty when you get down there; she looks “bound” but all that silk is her using her own body to generate the cocoon. She’s dying down there, giving her life force to the last drop to try to keep Lace in a protective bubble. The void is absolutely winning.
>>722721887I can’t prove it, it just seems to be heavily implied. The society we find is the one the weavers constructed, no? They’re still remembered, the society is still silk-based. You think the entire hierarchy of their society is named for a chorus, with Conductors at the top holding a sacred melody, and their holy soldiers being Choristos, Choir Clappers, etc., because they WEREN’T building all of Pharloom up around the need to perpetuate a gigantic society-sized lullaby? What’s the alternative, that the Conductors themselves made ALL that shit up only after every Weaver left? That… doesn’t make sense. Why would the Conductors, who don’t know dick about silk except via secondhand knowledge, concoct a plot to sing GMS to sleep from whole cloth and then rebrand society around it IMMEDIATELY as the Weavers left and GMS was waking up? There’s no sensible continuity there.
It's baked.
>>722721887>Hornet: You speak of the Citadel? Its former function has failed, but I can still sense its purpose, some. It is church and cage both.Mask Maker: Aye. Devised by your ancestors that monstrosity, and their wicked, clever minds. A system, or a web they'd likely call it, a way to keep their mother sealed in slumber, and themselves free to lavish in their false rule. The citadel has systems like the conductors, valutkeepers, and architects to KEEP GMS SEALED. That's the reason it was created. And I shouldn't have to tell you that conductors (conduct the song), vaultkeepers (who keep melodies), and architects (who keep the machinery running) have to do with song
>>722722162So your whole plot point is based on a naming convention
>>722722263Yeah, basically. And the fact that the entire city is built atop a gigantic organ, and all of the locks are based on musical bells. It’s very deeply ingrained in their entire culture. The game is called SILKSONG for fuck’s sake. The song is like the entire plot. It keeps GMS asleep. The song faltering and weakening is how she awakens.
>>722722382>The game is called SILKSONGOk you know what that convinced me, I just, I can accept a lot of the bullshit in this game like musical gates and whatnot but actually singing to keep someone asleep is too much
Is Wanderer better at parrying since the attack is faster?
So why are some fleas retarded?
>>722723303They're so fluffy that they're basically indestructible. Evolution never had to grace them with intelligence as a survival mechanism.
>>722723182yes, decently often you can just mash through multi-hit attacks>>722723303they're all retarded
