For me the TR remasters are better than most demasters out there by virtue of keeping and allowing you to play with the original graphics if you want to, meaning they double as ports in a way. I love the contrast and moody lighting of old Unreal Engine 1 games. Something about the photobashed textures on low poly environments, wrapped in per-vertex lighting creates my favorite aesthetic in games.It's kind of like how movies looked when they were a mixture of real footage, miniatures and matte paintings... there's this tactile beauty to everything that got lost when they moved to CGI. The same thing happened to games when they moved to PBR.
