Why can't we get cool sci-fi suits?
>hey i remember checking out kamen rider>i enjoyed decade that was pretty cool>2009Woah buddy
you were saying?
>>722733859>i enjoyed decadethe show itself was a horrid mess but Decade himself was cool
>>722734729I don't know how they made a pink barcode a god tier design, but they did.
>>722732610Lack of creativity in the industry.
>>722734852I fucking hate Type Formula. It's SO UGLY and if it weren't for Tridron Drive would easily have some of the worst suits of the later half of Heisei's Riders.
>>722734829his performance helped a lot too I thinkused to hate how he looks before watching the show myself and it slowly grew on me.
>>722732610The difference between Western and Eastern futuristic, scifi, cyberpunk and fantasy is similar to our martial history. In the West it's all about technology, there's no secret movement that makes you the best, you become the best through technological advancements and a will to fight. In the East it's about knowing "ancient" movements that releases your inner (Chinese/Japanese/Korean) chi shi whateveri, this is intrinsic to your race that foreigners can't learn. In the East they believed their race to be a martial race with hidden secrets only they can perform. As a result, our military fantasy is completely different. In the West we have more grounded designs where even if they decide to go with magic, they still try to rationalise it as not being nonsense. In the East they just put anything together and it works because culturally they want to feel martial and don't need to justify the ins and outs, it just is.
>>722732610The west in the 2000s essentially mainlined army propaganda to get access to military Intellectual Property (such as being able to show actual military hardware, much like sportsball games being able to use real players) and funding, which meant that they needed to run everything past military consultants who ended up ruining everything they focused on, which was usually the protagonist and their faction.Hollywood movies also did this a lot if they needed to show any military shit.
>>722732610Me on the left
>>722734829
>>722732610It's beginning. First one that's globally streamed. You can bet more will follow.
>>722734980Nah. Go watch some mecha or toku. The tech is so advanced it becomes magic. Even in cases like having Newtypes in Gundam, they're worth fuck all without technology to take advantage of.
>>722735678Fujimi best boy.
>>722735723>mechsThat's the point, they're technological but they physically don't work.No matter how cool a mech is, there's no scenario in which they serve any purpose ever.Titanfall used mechs and their justification is shit too, the idea that they was used by farmers and mostly for civilian use doesn't hold up.
>>722735890Oh you're one of those "um the tanks would just shoot the legs xDDD" fags.Lmao. Carry on, then, retard. Carry on.
>>722735890You say that like western sci fi isn't lousy with power armor, walkers, and mechs too.
>>722735935No it's just that tanks work by using the terrain as cover and firing over huge distances.A mech is a giant piece of metal that can't hide behind a 3 metre hill and repeatedly take pop shots. If mechs was viable, they'd exist. To believe otherwise is to believe that enemies who have nukes to kill each other, are purposely deciding not to pick the best option possible.Mechs are they are alone are cool. But the difference in mindset is in the West more grounded technology is favoured.
>>722732610The one on the right is fucking stupid and anyone who disagrees has shit taste>hurr I wanna look like a goofy bug
>>722735935mechs are cool but there's no reason for them to ever exist IRLThey're a giant target with massive weakpointsAnything that makes them "fast" or "hit hard" can be put on far smaller vehicles like jet fighters
>>722736109But the left can't have a cool night fight scene. It should also have strips that glow.
>>722734729People just had too high of an expectation back when it aired and wanted ALL the old actors to come back as cameos to the world Decade visits, which just isn't feasible.
>>722736294Why would you assume I like the left one just because I called out the right for being shit? The left one also sucks, but that's because it's boring instead of outright shit
>>722736521But would it not be cooler if it glowed?
>>722736484Fair enough. I'd rather have them do original shit than what Zi-O did and retroactively ruin the older riders by doing shit like making Eiji a bitch that works for the dad he hates or completely ruining the ending to Blade.
>>722736071>e is to believe that enemies who have nukes to kill each other, are purposely deciding not to pick the best option possible. That's a bad example, since we have nukes irl, but haven't used them since the 40s, despite having plenty of wars since then.
>>722736556Not really? Glowy lights can't fix boring designs
>>722732610>Why can't we get cool sci-fi suits?40k
>>722734980This is, kids, how you talk out of your ass without knowing shit about the topic you're talking about and making youself look like a complete buffoon>chinks and Japanese are the sameRetard>In the West we have more grounded designsPicrelated is a grounded design in question
>>722736775
>>722736071>mechs can't exist in media because they can't exist irlGet out of this thread, retard
Realistic and grounded western suit design btw
>>722732610>555 >sci fi
>>722736796>Picrelated is a grounded design in questionIt makes sense actually. That armor is designed to tank planet busting punches from the Hulk so naturally its going to be extremely thick and bulky so that Tony isn't turned into paste when he gets punched.>>722736874Literally nothing wrong with that suit. Especially if its bullet proof.
>>722736758It would be less boring. You could do a vein and blood thing. The left already looks like muscles, so it should also have nerve and vein details pulsing with energy. That rad theming could make it cool.
>>722736109the left one is fucking stupid AND fucking boring
>>722734695That shit always looked like bulkier BMX gear
>>722732610>uses tokusatsu as an exampleany /v/ examples? This is like comparing pirates in Assassin's creed black flag to One Piece characters
>>722737218Wouldn't Toku be the better example though? Since Toku at least needs to actually fit a guy which limits how wacky you can get with it compared to games or anime getting to pull all signs of fuckery.
>>722732610Which one is meant to be the cool one? They're both shit.
>>722736910>at armor is designed to tank planet busting punches from the HulkGrounded, uh?
>>722737274still apples to oranges and you know it.Crisis and Kamen Rider are going for completely different things regardless of if both technically fit a human body or not. Raiden's suit also fits him before he got robocopped. Also Kamen Rider is not /v/
>>722737424>Also Kamen Rider is not /v/Climax Heroes, though...
>>722737310
>>722737457fine i concede
>>722736071>No it's just that tanks work by using the terrain as cover and firing over huge distances. That's just artillery and there's no reason you can't find an occluded spot for a mech to sit, tanks work by offering good mounting points on a moving platform for weapons and shaped armor.A mech just runs up against problems with creating viable limbs that are armored, since they are articulated levers sticking out of the main body and something like a leg needs to move the entire weight of the armored leg each time it takes a step followed by lifting the weight of the mech, which also means that the feet need to adequately spread out that force on the ground. The main design flaw of a mech that reverts it back into a tank when eliminated is the use of long, heavy, articulated levers to do things, rather than compressing everything into a nugget, therefor the thing you mostly need to ignore for the mecha genre is the square cube law.
>>722736775For me it's old timey diving suits in spess
>>722737768or you can just do what AC or Gundam does and have skyscraper size robots which gives plenty of room for articulation. or maybe even artificial muscles like with evas or metal gear ray
>>722732610This fucking thread has been made a hundred times. What answers or reasons are you looking for that haven't been fucking brought up in the 20 million threads about this?
>>722734964Yeah the actor was really good at his role, something that a lot of neo heisei riders just weren't.
>>722738450
>>722737768>That's just artilleryYes, that's what tanks are, mobile artillery.
>>722738330I would assume that you're ignoring square-cube law at that point anyway.
>>722732610I prefer left.Right looks like plastic and spandex.
>>722732610
>>722738682>Yes, that's what tanks are, mobile artillery.Behold. A tank
>why not both
>>722737164It just works.
>>722737424The fact there's two fucking JoJo characters whose main fucking gimmick is using bubbles is so goddamn stupid, but Caesar's still really fucking cool.
>>722732610Is that lame power rangers shit on the right supposed to be "cool"?
I just know that Decade is behind this thread.
>>722737543Truly the PEAK of Rider designs.
>>722738695which one? If we are talking about evas and ray then it is artificial biology. Moreso in eva's case because they are basically heavily armored, cyborg clones. Saying that evas and metal gear rays ignore the square cube law is like saying humans ignore the square cube law>durr how does thing in the picture hold itself up with those skinny legs? Square Cube Law suggests he should just collapse onto himself like a pile of bones and flesh.if you are talking about ACs and Gundams then I am pretty sure that they use study frames and skeletons which hold together internals which one their own don't break it from the weight. same reason you can have an aircraft carrier on land and still have it be filled and have aircraft loaded onto it.It's not like Gundams are particularly top heavy either or that AC doesn't have weight distribution limits.
>>722739297As long as you're not a grape-flavored cuckold incel, yeah.
>>722732610Japanese sci armor look like some shitty low budget kids cosplay
