Lob had memory-based gameplay. Its fundamentally skill-based. If you learn all the threats and events you can micro-manage everything and get perfect outcomes every day with no variance.
By contrast, in Library, there's RNG everywhere.
In the late games stages, you can have an excellent deck tailored to the encounter and play perfectly and still get screwed over.
But I think the worst feature of Library, BY FAR, is the system they used for entering receptions.
I don't mind needing to burn books for cards, that's fine, even needing to reserve the books to open up the reception is fine, but you shouldn't need to keep feeding books into it to replay it.
Where are the books going?
If they're being taken then repeating the reception makes little sense, as why would anybody come back to get copies of the same book they already have?
It just creates a ton of unnecessary grinding.

Anything Purple and higher is limited in the number of copies you can get anyway and clearing an encounter two or three times should get you all the cards and key pages. You also drop more books if the opponent has higher emotion level when you kill them. The clashes and emotion coin mechanics are a little obscure but they are mandatory to engage with lategame.
Index has good cards, but they are food for any decently built PT, which you definitely have access to by then.

If I played LoR from the beginning with what I know now, it'd be an extremely different experience.

Absolutely not, the game being a gacha takes several thousand hours of gameplay if you want to keep up with the character releases, and before any retard comes and cries about this, it's a very documented thing in every gacha game and limbus is no different, said hours of gameplay will be filled with repetitive gameplay that is entirely carried by FOMO, so your entire experience with the gameplay will be monotonous indifference done daily or weekly only to buy/roll for characters that will be power crept in weeks~months, this was especially horrible when i waited for the Walpurgisnacht night event(once every 3 months but it took half a year last time because the devs are incompetent) only to be rewarded with 2 subpar characters, both of whom will definitely be power crept before they earn their value.
All of that is assuming the story is even worth it which it absolutely is not, the story has multiple problems the characters constantly act in nonsensical ways and the dev is an incompetent writer who clearly has certain troupes that he keeps falling back on which makes the overall general writing repetitive aside from the specific problems i already mentioned. Know that you'll get new content/story every several months or so, so basically you're being edged for months only to be greeted with the most ass gameplay and rewarded with the most garbage writing. If you really REALLY want to play the game I'd recommend waiting for it to be finished in 10 years so you can beat it in a 100~200 hours, the average limbus player who joined day1 is easily 3k+ hours in and that's on the lower estimates, all the content the game has does not under any circumstances deserve that much time, if i joined today I'd beat it all in 50 hours or less easily and that's assuming I'm taking my time reading slowly, but because of the slow update cycle you'll have to play for several weeks with no content or story.
